if you give gold to a protester that is a hireling, the protester will take your gold and become your hire

anyway for now u can just feed the protester then hire him and dismiss to get him to respawn

Not a bug. I played this on Test for a while.

You can turn the protestors into peaceful citizens if you give them food, clothing and/or gold.

The Angry Rioters are supposed to be arrested. To arrest them, get a rope from the box of ropes (it shows as a box with 0 items in it but if you double click it, it will place a rope in your pack). Go and double click the Angry Rioters (not the blue protestors). That will 'bind' the rioter (like unto a pirate) and they will follow you. You take them back to the Guard Captain to get loyalty to that city.

Fires can be put out by double clicking them. Garbage can be "cleaned up" by double clicking on it. This also gets you loyalty.

I think Angry Rioters can also be killed, but we are not *really* supposed to kill them until the guard captain tells us that the jails are full - at that point, you can take the rioter to their home town (I'm not sure how you know which town, I didn't get that far with it on Test) or kill them.

The important thing is to just choose one town to be loyal to.

well here it exactly what happened

1. found "angry protester"
2. dragged fish steaks on to him

at this point I didn't check to see if he was still "angry protester" so I gather what you are saying is the "angry protester" has the possibility of going away?

3. dragged gold to see if he would take gold, became my hireling.

If you drop exactly 1k gold on them, they stop beeing angry and change back to their "profession" title - you need to wait aprox. 15 sec till they turn..

So after you droped 1k you can go on find new angry protesters or fires, garbage to clean and rioters..

i am still waiting to see a any raider the Guard Captain speaking off - and i searched all Moonglow for one yet...seems like this is the next stage or will be guided by EM's...i hope not since i always got no time for Em Events because of work ;(

Maybe in that instance it just didn't refresh right away and actually turned back into a hireling? Hence him becoming a follower after you gave him gold.

Giving gold works, but I switched to fish steaks and got the same results. :)

The original poster is correct, it just hit me too. Yes, if you find an npc that reverts to a hireling when given 1000 gold / enough food, he'll take the entire gold pile if dropped on him when he has done so.

The same goes for the grey, arsonist protestors; they are will take the entire pile of what ever you drop on them.
