Battle Chickens.....

So I was reminded of this system. which is fairly large. Your raise and breed chickens for the purpose of fighting.
My buddy reminded me that we started on this when SA launched. We went and got our battle chickens and made them fight. Eventually one died.
Am I missing something here?

Were the battle chickens bonded before you let them fight? If not, once they're dead, they're gone. If bonded, I think they can be brought back to fight again another day.

A friend and I run a fortnightly chicken battle night on Europa and yes one will die, That's how you figure out which bird won. If bonded they take about 3-5 minutes of training to regain the lost points so it isn't a big deal.

Sorry guys. I meant whats the point. or is there something more to it. This seems like a fairly large system that was put in place and seems no different other that time consumption to buying two bunnies at a stable and fighting them.
My only guess is....
Can these things get very powerful?
Like is it a way for someone without taming to own and control a powerful beast? Other than that... i'm lost.

This..I don't think the OP is referring to your average run of the mill chickens...

The Battle Chicken Lizards are a new breed...very cool though I have yet to own one I do have an egg that needs hatching

Pretty much, you can tame, breed, raise, and keep looking for the color you wish your chicken you want. Then you to get to train it up and start a fight club or something. Really the raising the chicken from the egg, and get random colors to the one you want is what makes them different. A near little system and just adds another small thing to the game is all.

Wish they could come up with an extremely rare color for battle chicken like maybe pure white like the cus or something, coz I've pretty much gotten all the colors there is for the battle chickens with my 50+ coops n then stopped breeding as there isn't any chicken tourneys on my shard to look forward to. Just a thought..

To the OP no, your not missing a thing! Battle chickens are not over powered pets to be owned and operated by untrained tamers. The purpose of battle chickens is the same as any other beast within UO. to tame, train and command your pet. with the exception being that instead of settin hours at a spwn, hopin for just the right color or combination of colors. you can do it at home with your coops that take no stable spaces.
then you need to gather some friends and make a small wager and let the fun begin!!!

There is also the enjoyment of frying your eggs.

I never went full bore into the chicken lizards...gave up after a little over a month and I got 0 battle chicken lizard eggs.
