Cave-In at compassion pass - Blackthorns Castle destroyed, burnt

Went thru compassion gate to head down to try out my parry on Golems, ran south thru the rats to the little feed-thru cave, entrance is covered over with rocks and boulders.

Use a crystal portal and say "Ilshenar mint.' That will teleport you to Ver Lor Reg.

I was Thinking the entrance to the gargoyle mining camp was near Honor - which way, north past the liches, south, or what, I've been searching, not finding much. Not sure where a portal is, or even what it would look like (never used one). Is this on all shards?

Found it, north of honor, just a few steps.
The opening leading to the east section there is blocked.
Heading south from the city (intact), the opening to the S section is blocked.
Get thru the blocked area (teleport), and that section leading to the eastern half is blocked also.
Once your in the east section,OMG, looks like an explosion - castle buildings are gone. Burnt vegetation. The berry trees have no foliage. Many of the Juka lie cold and still. by who's hands?
While the castle walls, and other, are gone, there's invisible barriers that can be walked on, that also block anything moving too much, some doors still stand (functional at that), but golems are here, so I'll be back.
You can leave towards Compassion, but you'll have to teleport the last step
Where's our LS reporter to get pictures, and the story?

why are you getting so far ahead of yourself... quite obvious it has to do with the coming story arc... look at the spoilers post.. read some of the recently released fiction..

I would just wait for the coming publish and release of the new shard wide live events..

And the other golden question... how many years will it take the staff to rebuild/replace this landscape? 3-5 years? More, maybe? Remember Maginica.

That’s only fair if all the other towns are added together vs. Loona! Otherwise... the small and meek towns that people forget about may fall victim to the Maginica curse... like Buck’s Den, Serpent’s Hold, Minoc. What did they do to spread evil? Nof’in!

1) On Test Center, you cannot teleport to the other side of the rock barriers anymore. Probably the areas will be blocked also on production servers when Publish 74 goes live.

2) The "invisible walls" are a typical side-effect of a map change in the client: currently, the old castle walls are still there on the production servers, they were just removed from the client map files. The invisible walls should disappear completely with the Publish (but it won't matter much due to point 1...)

3) If the area is blocked off completely, it will be impossible to complete the "Patience" Quest Chain for the Spellweaving spellbook started in Heartwood, because the only spawn of Exodus Minions in the game is inside the Exodus Dungeon. People will have to complete the "Discipline" quest chain in Sanctuary to use Spellweaving

4) Little bit of trivia: now the area is similar to its original appearance, before Blackthorn's Castle was rebuilt there for the LBR expansion.

on TC1 I couldn't make it thru. In the map I could tell that the castle is still gone. Since it's only blocked on One, I think they clearly meant it to be found - get that interest level up and people talkin' - talkin' about UO.

Makes me wonder tho, and maybe I missed that part of the story arc history, but, Why did the Juka pick Wrong in the first place? It was clearly a Brit settlement. Wrong now just happens to be the next revamp. Who cleared the Juka from the dungeon,and now they're dead at the castle too? not even mentioning vaporizing walls and such (at first i thought the dev's probably got drunk and were just having a little fun the other nite).

I'm thinking that the title of the fiction posted yesterday is a bigger clue than people realize. "The Awakening." What has been sleeping in Ilshenar that has ties to Blackthorn, the Juka, and the cyborgs? What might be angry at their failure after it woke?

I think we've been getting vague hints of this since toward the end of the Virtubane arc...

The pre-LBR pack... we couldn’t get into Ilshenar as the staff was trying to force 3d on us. I remember trying it and having the whole computer crash on me. Such joy and fond memories! So... I never saw this area without the black castle.

One thing is for sure... it was some fun hunting, for awhile... until I got to be good with a tamer and a big dog... then the dog would somehow slip through the floor to go after monsters that were out of reach. A hugely flawed design... or something, but I’m sure for non-tamers it was still a great hunting ground. What I used to do most was hunt the golems out of the south side small building, hope for paragons so I could get rare gears. Guess that’s all gone now.

This area was also some prime savage hunting. Guess that’s ruined now too.

I’m sure Juka City is next... that one north north-east of Honesty.

For such a big land... that’s really got some amazingly large wasted space, I honestly can't understand why these settlements never had population before LBR. The Mere went to that crypt north of the black castle... and that ruined town near Sacrifice.

The thoughts of not being able to hunt the juka's in the area is a little unsettling to me, as is not being able to go to Exodus Dungeon. I hope it is closed off on Test for something other than making it perma closed.

I checked out the other spawn area... not that its set in stone, seeing this is an upcoming publish thing, but the "Juka City" is still populated with no damage... and the spawn is in the thick jungle area. Very hard hunting area.

Good point, and that won't do imo. They need to remove the rocks from the Desert area going towards the Power Plant. They have no bearing on Blackthorns Castle area. Can still keep that area blocked off and allow travels to where the Exodus Minions are.

After all, critters can still pass thru the rock slides easy enough....

Here's the 2 structures I mentioned out front of Garg city, now removed:

Exploration shows the Meer Catacombs are untouched. "The Catacombs were where the Meer race chose to await the return of their ancient enemy, the Juka. When Lord Blackthorn and Exodus altered the timeline, the Juka and their fortress were transported away. The Meer created the Catacombs close to the former location of the Juka fortress so that they could meet the Juka upon their return." I did not see any dead Meer, or rather, the corpses are missing. What looks like coffins there in the Catacombs, What's inside them? Dead, or Sleeping?

I thought maybe there was an art tile ID mix-up, or something causing the wall/floor tiles to be now transparent, doesn't explain plants and trees, or the structures

Absolutely right! Thank You! They are partial dupes of the houses on both sides of my own. (duh, i thought they looked kinda familiar). I'll leave them, maybe it can be fixed.

Have you tried going into the option settings on you paperdoll and set the house caching to 0 and then logging out. That usually fixes the phantom house problem.

This appears to be particular to Atlantic.

On GL there's been similar things, similar goings on that hint at the realm splintering, at deep and potentially long-lasting economic issues, and even to a degree regressing from a more modern, more Renaissance-ish environment to a more Middle Ages-ish environment.

Yeah, the Crux are Atlantic specific. I think most shards have some type of shard specific guard and are all headed in the same general direction with the upcoming event. Should be fun

What would be nice is if they dragged all the former Bane Chosen loyalists (like me) into it somehow with minor bonuses for taking picking a certain loyalty and an NPC trying to rally the former Banes to whatever cause.

These NPC guards are also at other banks... so you know. Seeing how weak they are, don't count on them helping any. lol

I died in Exodus dungeon trying to complete the spellweaving quest and you can't pass through the rocks as a ghost, nor was there a wandering healer. I think the only way to get out is to use the physically stuck option or have a friend come to your rescue. Just FYI.

Upcoming tamers might hate that blockings. Or is there another ridgeback spawn anywhere? I guess you could farm tribal berrys at savage spawns at southern tip of the swamp south of destard? (I know there were differences on some shards when the war orcs vs tribals ended and they had different spawn locations depending on the end of that war. But that is sooo long ago ...)

The invisible walls around the burnt castle look like the old walls are still functionally.

Ah ... and while we complain .... that castle was the only ingame place for Betrayers. You (or at least me) sometimes need to take a picture of them for Elwood. ('The Collectors Quest') Not to mention that those Betrayers were the only mobs that had a guaranteed power crystal in their loot.

I hope so! I`d love to be sittin here still reading about the imminent death of UO and what will be comming out for 17-18th year rewards. rolleyes:
