Petition to the EA gods

First, let me begin with thanks. This month marks my first year playing UO and I have enjoyed it immensely. I have particularly found pleasure spending my game time as a pirate. NPC ships, player ships, and all things High Seas. I have found a good time, as well as a good income at sea.

I know you are busy doing whatever it is gods do up there in the cloud -and you receive many prayers from both the devout and the unbeliever, but if you would be so kind to hear my supplication I would be grateful.

I was hoping that with your god powers you could create a moongate for the sea. What I am after is a way to travel to and from Trammel and Felucca while on my ship. Perhaps the Serpent's Pillars could be enchanted to cause this effect by uttering a magic word or two?

Thank you for listening to your humble servant at sea.

What a great idea ! That sounds like good way to run from the player pirates ! LOL

Well, I assume it would operate with the same combat rules about fleeing combat. It's only fair that it would.

My main point is not having to unload and reload a ship when going to fel or tram. Also , the passage would lead to felucca propper, not T2A

That would be a really cool idea, hopefully they will hear you and grant your wish

OK,
To expand and clarify a little,

-If the current Serpent's Pillars are used, a list of specific spoken word commands (like doracron and sueacron) could be employed to make the passage from trammel to felucca, or tokuno and all of the combinations therein.

-I do think passage to T2A fel should be only possible from the fel pillars.
*So if you were in trammel and wanted to go to T2A fel you would go to the pillar in tram, say the
magic word and you would be transported to the corrosponding pillar in fel. then you would have to
go to that pillar in fel to get to T2A.*

-fleeing combat rules would apply to the pillars in fel. If you are flagged they wouldn't work.

-a pillar would have to be placed somewhere in tokuno of course.

-I like the idea of using the pillars because they already exist and might be less intrusive than creating a
new device in another location.

Let me understand this. Say, a lone player is on a ship with a few nice items and then all of a sudden a ship with four reds approaches. You say he should just sit there and get killed and looted? How easy is that for the pirates? How dumb is that for the lone sailor?

Here's a thought. Make the seagate be one-way. You can travel "to Fel" but not "from Fel". Would that be easier?

No, fleeing combat rules would not apply in that case. If you are attacked in fel you can still recall/gate etc. If you engage in the fight however, you then cannot change your mind and run away.

If you were on a boat in fel and you were attacked you could still go through the passage, but only if you don't engage the attacker. (hit him, cast on him, or fire a cannon at his boat)
Non combatants would not have to worry about the fleeing combat rules

Also, I hardly think the serpent's pillars would be camped by pirates. As it is now, when you use them it deposits you in a random location in a very large area around the pillar. A pirate would have no idea where you would appear.

Also, for what it is worth, it is my experience that most pk players would have no interest sitting around on a boat in the middle of nowhere waiting for the odd fisherman to pass through. how boring is that?

Last, like you have the choice not to go to fel on land based moongates, you would still have the choice not to go to fel on a sea based one.

That's common sense, and it is how it should be.

Re-read. The poster I quoted seemed opposed to your sea moongate idea because s/he feels it would be a means for a player to flee Fel if under attack.

That is not what I said I said I was not held to pvp rules if I am a victim. I fish In fel and I would use that if I were attacked!

as long as you remain a victim and don't fight (hit, cast, shoot cannon) you can flee all you want.

I think they should bring back the concept of moonstones and obviously they could apply it to ships

just put a timer on it to it useless as a way to flee a battle. pretty simple.

I like the idea of being able to sail between tram, fel, and tokuno. It sure would make me free to keep fishing quests rather than dump or complete and not accept new ones.

Good idea but it wont work. All you have to do is place a ring of ships around the pillars in Fel and block them.

Simple solution to that is to make it a no parking area like the floating dock and Magincia docks. After 5 minutes a boat with no one present gets teleported away.

I seriously doubt the pvp community would be interested in camping two serpents pillars with enough boats and characters to keep the boats from being teleported. It would make yew gate fighting seem exciting, if not more interesting.

I stand corrected, with apologies. Unfortunately, what we type here can be read and understood so many ways without audio for expression. Good luck on your fishing. I will soon venture in Fel to treasure hunt. Oh, what fun...

That should make it work, and be more appealing.

The Moonstones was brought up. So bring them back and in a half dozen colors. You find the stones only on the shard they ferry ships to. So want stones to go to fel with your ship, then have to farm stones in fel. The waters of that land would have a spread of general areas you get ferried to based on the color of the stone. So if you want to pop in the waters center top of tuko. Then need to farm a stone in tuko of the proper color. Players would have to figure out how the colored stones apply to what location of that land. Like the pillars you would pop in at random spot in that general area. Stone have a casting time like spells do and subject to the same rules.
