No DCI Included

So I built a sampire/wraith thrower... Basically set it up just like lord god's whammy/thrower template.
No DCI, No parry. I went down to Medusa last night and soloed her no problems in wraith form. So do I really not need DCI and parry to solo peerless, or if I try this with proxy or someone else will I get my face ripped off ? I know slasher is doable, I am still getting use to kiting him. Also Is it viable to run like this in vampire form (with out dci and parry) ? I know most of these questions have been answered but only with, "well if you don't have dci you will die no matter what" but I survived......

p.s I had to drink lots of refresh pots or I would have died, basically anytime she hits me more then twice back to back I have to chug refresh pot and hope for instant launch of soulglave to leach back to full ( curse weapon ).

and somehow I did math wrong and ended up with 66 eng resist in wraith form, its a quick fix though.

For a thrower parry is not necessary, especially if you’re not holding a shield. DCI is nice but if you stay away I guess you don't need it. It’s something I always like to have on there but that’s me. If you can stay away it will not make a difference.

thanks for the response. Yeah I didn't attempt to keep 'making' distance b.c that takes away from me being able to swing at her, and sense she uses bow she keeps dishing it out, but yeah dci really didn't seem to make much of a difference in the fight compared to my friends normal whammy/thrower ( ie no option to go in to vampire form ) with dci and parry. With that in mind I guess Ill try something harder tonight, any suggestions ?? ( besides slasher already did it )

I would try dreadhorn if you make it through that you should be good.

I'll be very surprised if you make it through dreadhorn with 0 dci and 0 parry.

Sampire/Wraith?

Which is it? lol.

I used to play a very similiar style, but I used discord. I couldn't take down a dreadhorn

as a thrower, wouldn't parry do nothing for me anyways ? (besides the reduced specials cost ?)
I've never done DH on a thrower. He hits really hard and often. Even if you don't have parry, DCI would make a huge difference.

He is very fast, and the island you fight him on is pretty small.

Lynk is probably right but that is the test. If you can keep away then you don't need it. If you die then I would put it on. That being said if your fast enough to stay away. The best defense is not letting them get in range I would guess.

Using vamp form and curse weapon dreadhorn should be possible if you are able to hit all the time and keep max swing speed. Cyclone with 35 ssi is probably better here then soulglaive, add 50 hci, hld and tons of refresh pots.
Throwing sampire with spirit speak is nice, but i only have that build on siege and i dont want to play games with dh right now there, so i can not tell for sure.

Ill try it out with a Cyclone with HLD. I was thinking about paroxy as well. I attempt both tonight and post results. Still trying to craft that one peace with the exact resists I need to close my energy hole, about to give up scrap suit and start over. I spent 20k ingots past two days trying to get one peace.

A thrower can't use a shield because there're to hit penalty.
For example, if you hit 100% without shield you will miss 20% with shield (120 parry). And if you haven't parry then you miss something like 80%.

I don't think it's a good idea to use a Cyclone. The damage is so low, range is low and it hasn't AI.
You can get Glaive to 1.5s. It's enough when you do 250 damage per hit. And you will not swing faster because you need to move between swings.

Shows that you know nothing. Cyclone is perfectly fine because it can be used like a melee weapon. With 35 ssi you hit cap at 120 stam and its one-handed. In vamp form and with curse weapon up, there should be enough healing for nearly everything.
Against mobs that do a lot of stamina damage you get more healing from a faster weapon than from a slow one with ai, and dh has low physical resist.
Damage per single swing does mean nothing if you dont swing your weapon at all because you did take a lot of damage. And you cannot outrun dh in wraith form in the early stage of the fight.

Also more hld/hla/hsl procs because of the higher swing speed.

I agree I know nothing. I don't know:
- why must he use wraith form vs DH
- how is he going recast curse weapon in melee with 0% DCI if he has no SC
- what props has he on his weapon

Much more reliable mana leeching - guaranteed on each hit rather than prey to the RNG
Cast Protection (use a scroll; need 0 magery) and you can cast it while being hit
SSI, DI, HML, HSL and either HLA/Slayer depending on the opponent

What does he do with tons of mana he leaches? He hasn't AI to spend it.

I know about protection. But I thought he needs switch to SC weapon to cast it. Also I thought that under protection you cast very slow. And he doesn't leach while casting (few seconds? including switching to SC and back).

Where has he got 45% HCI with such modes on his weapon? I thought he uses Mace&Shield because sometimes he can miss 4 times in a row without HLD... and probably die because he can't outrun DH.

Could you post results?
Sorry I didn't have time to get keys for paroxy and DH this weekend. I did manage to solo prime evil and got mephistist to like 45% before I had to go. Ill try to get keys sometime this week and let you know.

Can you enlighten me on why it would be good for someone to stand toe-to-toe with dreadhorn on a thrower when they don't have DCI? I'm also not understanding what benefit wraith form would give if you're using the cyclone. Consecrate Weapon isn't necessary because phys resist is generally lowest. The only theories I can come up with are that you plan to use the Wind of Corruption and continuously keep CW up to prevent the 100% chaos damage (worst mod in the game?) from being used, you plan to use a lot of Moving Shots, you're saying because DH moves fast you have no choice but to melee it, or you're wanting the curse weapon healing instead of vamp form.

I did say nothing about wraith form in my first post, in fact i did assume vamp form + curse weapon up. I did say you cannot outrun dh in wraith as a response to corwin becasue he came up with soulglaive and chain ai and then you would need wraith.

I use a similar char as the op with gm necro and 70 ss on siege and due to equipment limitations there i use cyclones most of the time. Found that i can kill lots of things faster if i just stand still instead of running around because i get more hits in the same time. Just not sure if that method works against dreadhorn, but vamp form + curse weapon heal a lot if used together and you dont miss.
Protection to get cw casted without interruption.
