Never really been succesful in UO post AOS, but just returned and would like to see what's going on in Shame and am hoping to get some shiny items out of there :)

I've got these skills at the moment:
115 Sword
115 Tactics
102 Parry
102 Healing
100 Anatomy
85 Chivalry
34 Busido and training...

GM Archery, Focus and Lumberjack in Soulstones

My gear:

Mace and Shield Glasses
Leurocian's Mempo
Violet Courage
Leaher Arms with 97 Luck, 5 Stamina Increase, 12% reflect physical damage
Leather Leggings with 7 Stamina Increase and MR1
Stormgrip
Conjurers Trinket / Primer on Arms Damage Removal

Bracelet with +5 swords (not used atm), 6 dex, 2 int, 9 HCI, 100 luck
Ring with 6 dex, 43 luck, 8 HCI, FC1, 6% Lower Reg Cost

Soles of Providence
Crimson Cincture
Conjurer's Garb
Quiver of Infinity (what does the damage modifier actually do?)

Museum of Vesper Order Shield
Soul Seeker / Righteous Anger

Stats: 120+11 str, 125+22 dex, 10+10 int / 115+10 hp, 147+12 stam, 20 mana
Total Resists are 70+, 58, 70+, 44, 65
Luck is at 1060
Char is human

So far I can kill the stuff on level 1 and 2 of shame with ease even though I only deal around 25 damage per hit, but when I go up against the casters (fire/water elementals, evil mages) my healing is insufficient.

So what to do with this char? What gear needs an immediate improvement, and what would be the best items I could go for in the long run?

Is dropping healing and going Vampiric Embrace basically manditory nowadays? And why does everyone have 120 bushido? You'd only need 50 for honor and lightning strike was nerfed, right? What good is Evasion if it only works 30% of the time?

I also might need a better weapon. Any recommendations?

Regarding luck, is it not-done to put luck on a melee char nowadays? I need luck to get the shiny loot in shame, right? Or should I not use a warrior, but bring a mage to Shame instead? Or go throwing, that sounds fun too. Still have one of those around but he'd need an even bigger gear overhaul I think.

I trained bushido to 50 and started honoring stuff, the damage output has increased by 200% or something. But I still need to get a decent weapon.

Currently training Necro, am at 85 now. How to get the vamp scroll?

Still would like to have all of the above questions answered.

You are asking a ton of questions and there is a ton of threads in warrior forum around answering these.
Suit building for pvm dexxers is more or less the same for all templates ( except 4/6 chiv casters maybe ). Focus on high stam, hp, 100 di, up to 45 dci and hci, 40+ mana and lmc if you got room.
Stamina and mana leech on weapon, di and ssi as required, hld and hla next.
Study suits at luna bank, with enhanced client you can see all equipment on a player.
Find a full necro book on a player vendor or a scribe to make you one.

Soulseeker really sucks these days compared to imbued weapons, except for special purposes.

No it’s not mandatory to drop healing. Most people do it because its much easier and you can take down more things.

Thanks for the help.

I'm considering to go after the following

115 Swords
115 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Parry
100 Healing
99 Necro
84 Chiv
50 Bushido

763 skillpoints, thus I must get 43 out of items. Planning to use a broadsword and shield, so I can get some mods on there to make up for the missing mods on jewelry which are going to be taken up by skillpoints.

Are there any important downsides to having only 50 bushido besides not being able to use evasion and lightning strike? Does perfection build slower or something? I guess with only 265 points in martial skills, special move mana cost is only lowered by 5 and not 10. How big a deal is that?

The luck question is still important for me.

Yes there is a huge disadvantage to leaving bush where it is. One your two key spells are gone. 2 your parry chances are going to suck, both with a shield (which is bad with bushido) and without. It will also lower your damage in whirlwind attack and some specials. Additionally honor will go up much slower. I would either choose to GM it or drop it all together.

Are there any valid alternatives for honor to get the kind of damage output I need?

Well if you don't mind throwing it all at the end and getting a spell channeling weapon you could use WOD with spell weaving. For pvm it’s a bit rough but the chiv temp does still work in pvp. Well at least to an extent. With 120 Chiv and the right gear and EoO I think you could be hitting your damage cap. It might be a bit more difficult but it is possible.

I'm only interested in farming Shame at the moment, and I'm definately not interested in PVP.

Getting rid of bushido and raising Chiv instead sounds appealing, as I prefer to use a shield for the mods and bushido forces me to go 2h in the end.

Well the difference in one handed vs two handed with bushido is not that large. If you go the one handed route you can chug. I do agree that it’s a bit rough not getting the mods from the shields. I have been able to work around it and can show you some suits that do. But its more expensive and harder. I still keep my shields and am trying to come up with a temp that I want to use them on, but so far I really like my bushido or it requires spell channeling which negates some of my nicer shields.

well you do have another option: drop parry raise bushido....

I was running the standard sampie template a couple of month ago and exchanged parry for healing...never looked back...

there are some downsides though: you need more mana for specials like armor ignore and of course you get hit more often...

advantages: you can heal and leech :) plus since you have no parrying you can use the shields from shame without fear of damaging them.....

for shame i run with a hammerpick and a shield, combined with woodland armor, mace & shield, crimmie, tinker legs, ssi cloak, 10ssi + 5ssi bracelet ring, giving me 60ssi with 180 stam, 70 int (a bit low but works) and can spam AI almost cont. at 1.25-1.5 hits a sec. Damage to the vortexes on lvl 5 is around 175-189.

whats important: you need 40 LMC without parry

skills:

120 mace
120 bush
100 tacs
100 ana
90 chiv
100 necro
90 healing

Thats whats so nice about UO you can really adapt your playstyle to your char and specially tune it to YOUR needs.

Happy shameing :)

hmm....maybe...but then would load up parry....with healing alone, no parry and enhanced bandies would be close but i think worth a try..
