Just a note on the brand new 4th year vet reward “Seed Box”.

I would just like to say, on the behalf of all my fellow plant growers… this new 4th year veteran reward is super-duper cute!


I had a good look at one today, unfortunately… I don’t have one just yet, as I figure out where to take a reward pick from my youngest account, but I will surely be getting one. If you haven't seen them yet, they look like a wooden sorting table, with legs you would find seed packets in at your local garden center. Table, not a standing rack. And not really a box, for that matter. My little plant growing mill doesn’t have a lot of room… but I sure do want to have this guy so everyone can see, just I have to figure it out before I make my pick. hehe.

Inside, there is a large gump that turns the seeds into what looks like seed packets in little section. They even show the color of the seeds inside. I didn’t do an extensive test on my friend’s seed box, but I can see that 500 seeds, of any kind, is not even close to what a plant factor or hobby grower would need. A drop in the bucket! You will still need a container just for keeping your seeds sorted in a bank, like I have for all these years. Biggest advantage… no need to use poppy dust to ID small collections of particular seeds or ant seed quest seeds. That gets a big thumbs up alone!


Whoever on staff who did the graphics and designed this little beauty? I want to send my love and kisses and thank you for doing a great job. Just like those all too hard to get plant beds… we gardeners finally get some love.

I've been excited about the seed box since they first mentioned it and definitely plan to choose it when the opportunity arises. I hope they soon fix the account age updating problem... I only need to age one more month and then I can claim it!

True, it would have been nice if the seed box had been made available as a first year vet reward. Still, as some have pointed out, its main appeal is not needing poppy dust any longer to identify seeds... it won't save much space for the really serious growers. Gotta love the graphics, though!

Serious growers already have tons of poppies dust, so if it doesn't save space I don't see the point.

Some players don't hunt the creatures that drop that particular (poppy) seed. For them, it's quite a convenience.

so does it count as 1 lock down when full or 500 lock downs ? Maybe i missed it but know one has answered that question yet...

I think they get enough of our money every month. In fact, the older the account, the less you should pay... if I had anything to say about it. hehe.

But look at some of the more decorated houses you come across. It's not uncommon to see several 2nd year vet reward banners, that have been around forever. All together, I have like 12... maybe 16 of them. Every toon has an ethereal, 3rd year and up. Every vet dye tub, I have 3 sets of them. Not to mention all the cool little higher up things. I mean... I sure didn't cash in every vet pick for these, but people sell them all the time.

More stuff should be cratable... not cash out of our pockets.

I love the box. I hate that i wasted so much time to get poppie seeds & dust.

They don't store much tho. Only 500 seeds will go in. It's still a must have for any gardener, even tho sometimes the seeds seem to be bugged. I had 2 stacks of identical seeds which wouldnt stack outside the box but do stack inside the box. Sometimes the seeds i remove say just "peculiar seed". Can't even use the poppi dust on them anymore. Besides from that its all fine. It saved me alot of space since i could bin all my poppies.

I believe it's the triple barrel cacti that seems to make a new stack of seeds every time you harvest a plant.

I mean, it seems they all do it to basically just 2… the cacti plants seam to be the most trouble. Well… not any more.

I also don’t think the poppy dust will sell any less. People will still need it who don’t have accounts old enough to get this vet.

I've heard the seed boxes were coming but didn't know they were already here on four year old accounts .. so I chose 3 and am dying to get at them and fill them up to see how they work. I have so many seeds .. hope they do help with storage and orangization.

The tables stack but block. I took a screen shot with one open and nothing in it yet. This is going to be interesting!!

The boxes sound interesting, but I have too many seeds (over 11,000 on Siege alone) to really take advantage of them. I've never really minded killing wisps to get the seeds to get poppy dust either, so I can't even see getting one of these for that purpose either. Nice idea, I guess, but not all that practical if you're seriously into growing a variety of types and colors of plants and don't have tons of unused vet rewards.

Three?! Oh, how I wish I hadn't taken all my vet rewards every year and saved a few! If my account age ever gets unstuck, I'll be able to choose two. I'm torn, though... sure would like the teleport tiles as well. I may have to settle for one seed box.

I still have not understood once full (at 500 capacity), for how many items does it count.
Does it count for 1 item ? For 5 ?

Also, how this container handles "stacks" of seeds. Do stacks take 1 slot of the 500 available?

I wished they also did a Book for Treasure Maps, along with this seeds box.......

I was VERY much surprised to see released the Scrolls of Trascendency Books (when SOTs can already be binded together so, this book was not much of a real priority IMHO...) and still no word about a Treasure Maps Book.........

As far as a codes store item. Want them to spend $25 on UO? Making $25 of purchaces wont do it. More like spend $100 on UO to see $25 of it used on UO. The way things are now looks like Star Wars will be fronting us some money back. Till the return exodus from another failed gamble.


With good system of sorting and few Dust never was lost on seeds. Just lost interest due to the fish pie factor. Way to much effort for for less effect and range of effects then a little alky bottle. More the plants need more the alky/fish pie effects. Have the hearttwood enhancing random mod style of 7 possiblities and 2 of them cool.

The plant colors are there. Blue for invis. Bright blue for dex and so on. Ther is no balance issue when an alky can by a mixer, bottle and few regs to make a dex potion. Takes over a week to get that first fruit or pedal. Balance would be the same effect from plant growers without weighing so much, LOL. Make them not stack to slow down corpse looting and prevent hoarding. Production could be added to the Cooking skill. Sure it wont slow down fish pie production. Had hp regen pies on a vendor for months now 100s gp less the the seafare crap cost me. Guess it is because they don't stack.

Thanks for the sneak peek at the seed box. I am contemplating getting one for a character on a different account to use. The warning gump states you can't transfer it to a different shard, but isn't clear whether you can give it to a second account on the same shard. Is this possible, or it account bound?

If it can be moved about with items in it then I could see the shard borders having issues with the transport of produce goods.

Holds only 500 seeds in any combination. Basically it holds 500 stones worth of seeds. And weighs as much as number of seeds.

Another account can secure in their home and use. Box has security setting. Not sure if account has to be four to use not having any that young.

Put 121 bright green snake plant in it. Said 121 seeds and 1 unique seed.

Still no labling for the different types of Bonsi. Still no telling difference even between the common bonsi.

Box can be released and moved in backpack while items in it.



Short: it is a useful way to sort and identify peculiar seeds. Or newly looted bogs seeds. There is no real storage space to be saved here. Bigger the stack the less that can go in it. I still will keep my living collection of plants with there same seed type on them. Just nice having that library of living plants to X pollinate with.

I just did a rough count of my seed bank and we are talking over 62k seeds. I had to laugh real good, because if I were to use these new seed boxes… we are talking about 125 of them. lol. No way you really need more then just the one and keep your normal seed bank for the bulk. I was honestly hoping our seeds would be included in the current clean up, but… they didn’t.

I also agree that they could sure do more with plant resources. Back when the plant system was new and we started off with the 2 or 3 we had at the time, they said they would make more in time. Still, the baskets and dyes forced me to open vendors just offering colored plants for this. Everything else is for décor.

As far as “Warpig Inc” comment… they want more money, let them bring in new customers. Don’t punish us. I mean, if you have gobs of extra… PM me and I’ll help you figure out some outlets. hehe

Be easier and cost less to target vet players returning then enticing in snot nosed new players needing a quick shinny gaming fix win. Really how many new aged gamer could sit and play solitairy for a few hours without bursting into twitching fit. It is the older players returning and dragging their new old friends into UO because the weather sucks to bad to go golfing. To much of todays market of new players cannot deal with the grind or that fact it will take years to play catch up.

Playing around with the box little more. Should of made the 1 space soul forge a 4th year vet reward. Replaced the seed box for the forge on the sea champs as a loot drop. Seed box just is not that useful to suck up a vet reward choice. It does have a target market and could of breathed some new life into an old tired part on the game. Even as a recipe

I sure love my seed box. I not happy about the limit at 500 seed but it's great to sort and name the seed.
I do know I have to any of some kind of seed, 100+ of some of them so it don't work well with the 500 limit.

Okdoke… I finally picked one up a new seed box from the vet picks!

I actually warn people not to waist their picks just in case we get situations like this. In fact, when I first caught wind of these new vets coming with the publish, I also thought it was all for year 14 and nothing else. I was happy to see I was wrong. My oldest account is a year away from getting the house to house teleporters. I’ve been rubbing my hands waiting for my turn since they came out. Beg, barrow, and dealing to get sets to hook up houses in the town and networks of other connected establishments. What makes me laugh is that by the time I get them for myself… I’ll no longer need anymore. I also had collected all the ethereals I would need before my account was 36 months. hehe. Always think ahead!

The best way I was figuring these seed boxes for practical use in large operations some of us have… is like a depository, not actually storage because of that 500 low limitation. In other words… a quick drop-box for when we do seed collection. They add up, so you can just drop them on the box for several missions… then BANG, you have them all ready to go. Cleaned up a big bag full of random rubbish I had setting in a box waiting to be ID’d in a flash, first thing. It also filled up in no time flat. When I collect those special seeds, I go for at least 100 of each before even entering them into the bank.

Well, my account age seems to be finally moving, I finally went from 47 to 48 months today which was a lovely surprise (I have no idea any more where it should be though, as the new EA account management seems to be hiding account history) and my first choice was going to be the Seed Box...

... but that 500 seed limitation is a killer unfortunately! Having slowly bred every single fertile type, and 30 or so every 7 days for Seeds of Renewal to sell, some of my single piles of a single seed are larger than that already It's easier for me then to just every 6 months or so just do a few hours at the Ant Lions for more powder.

I still like the idea of the seed box, but... hnnghh... now I'm agonizing over what to do with this vet reward!

I am glad yall are still workin on a fix for accts. that have not aged in a bit.

Normally 3 of my 4 accts. always age with UO's actual birthday
or at least in late Sept. or Oct.
I always enjoy collecting the newest new vet rewards
on or around UO's actual anniv. and my own sorta in sync
as they are vet rewards / accts aging with UO's anniversary.
Just hasn't happened this yr. at all yet.

This fall only 1 of the 3 accts. that always aged in the fall, aged.
The *baby* 3rd acct. hit 10 yrs old this fall ! YAY !
But my other 2 of the 3 which always aged in the fall,
have NOT aged, [and they are even older] stuck on 167 or so and 155 mos old and should be showing 2-3 mos. older per oldest accts.

So I am not claiming any of the new or old vet rewards yet,
till my accts. that are not aging as they should have, do age.

My youngest 4th acct. is fubared too, ie not aging, stuck on 150 mos.

Someone somewhere on Uhall here, thought post acct. migration,
that 'maybe' accts. are now only aging when they get rebilled.

Well that can not be the case, cuz three of my accts. are billed
@ the same time and one of the 3 DID age in Oct. and 2 did not age which ALSO age in Oct. every year *same billing* all at once, on those 3 accts.

Or maybe it is cuz I did not [MIGRATE yet] ie didn't LINK accts.
in the new system YET...[still scared to go there at all]
but I got rebilled [anyhow] for all 4 of my UO accts.
this past fall, so all 4 of em, they still going strong and active !!!

And yet even without going to/thru the new link accts. migration thing yet,
one of my 4 accts. DID AGE ANYHOW, of the 4 each [got rebilled in Sept. & Oct.] even without my going thru the new acct. migration situation yet.
So go figure !

So yeh lots of us are waiting for the FIX before claiming
any of the new vet rewards at all, or even the older ones,
till our fix for our *AGE* is working properly again.

Figure on claiming a sheep statue or 3- 4, one per acct old enough to claim em, if nothing else, after the FIX that is.

I can't very well claim the spiffy 14 yr. thingie,
even if 2 accts ARE/will be old enough, after the fix,
since I can not go to/ from [Chesapeake ^ SIEGE] at will, anyhows !

I have an account that has been sitting at 167 for a few months now..it is driving me crazy!!! I am glad to hear they are looking at this problem. But I wonder if we are going to get credit for the months we missed or if the broken ones will just start aging again?

Agree with the compliments of the graphic and mechanics of the seed box. Glad I still had enough rewards to claim two. One for dull seeds the other for brights. It would be good if it would hold more seeds and I wonder if it would be possible to add the option of obtaining as many seeds as needed when removing instead of the two current choices of taking all that are stored or only one.

Yeah, hope it gets fixed soon, since I normally become eligible for gifts a couple weeks before Christmas, and I won't be unless it's fixed.

BTW, any thought of making seeds 10 to a stoneweight? After all, a lot of other stuff got weight-adjusted (stone, etc.) and having a seed weigh as much as the plant it produces is kinda silly. If real-world seeds weighed their UO equivalent, that 50 pound bag of chicken scratch from my local Southern States would weigh too much for a semi to haul...

This has been something that has bothered me a long time… and mostly when you think about tiny-tiny seeds. lol. I mean… an apple that weighs a stone, would make more then half a dozen pies… or be way more then 1 meal.

I also had a random thought about this seed box and the way seeds are displayed. If you haven't seen then, they look like seeds in a package when they are sorted. Wouldn’t it be brilliant if they could be removed IN the packet? Would be nice for selling them, if you did such a thing.
