"Throw" humans/elves a bone.

This thread is made as a request to allow humans and elves to learn from gargoyles the throwing skill. Humans specifically have the joat bonus to every skill. So I do not see why we can not have modified throwing weapons added that would "fit in the hands" of humans and elves.

The above image states that "Protectors of Britannia.Humans have adapted to their environment, improving many beneficial traits and abilities."

So this got me to thinking, why not add something as simple as a razor ring,Princess Xena style, for humans and elves. Surely the human blacksmiths would have seen the gargoyle throwing weapons and created a similier weapon. Here is an image of what I would like to see added.

I'd prefer some throwing weapon that are more down to the earth, like throwing daggers and throwing axes. Leave the exotic stuff to the exotic races.

So something like the shurikens we already have but instead of just a way to poison, will do direct damage instead?

Are you asking to have humans and elves throw from an RP standpoint? Cause I would have to disagree. However if you wanted a change so that throwers actually had some choices for equipment then I would be behind you 100 percent.

I want throwing to be available to humans and elves with some new throwing weapons as a razor ring. Why would you be against humans/elves having that skill available in an RP sense?

No razors for humans, just add Javelins, this will add the right difference between garg and humans ;)

1 handed javelins are needed to be balanced with throwing, maybe with a higher damage than boomerang since will requires a stack of it like arrows :p

also they can recycle the spear animation to do that :D

Maybe, but I was hoping for a ranged attack that would not require me to tote alot of arrows/bolts.

Then no one would play gargs, unless im missing something else that they are usefully for.

If throwing was added to humans and elves no one would play a garg any longer. I only use my garg for throwing and occasional imbuing. Heck, with soulstones I use the same char to do both roles. Gargs don't have the selection of artifacts that humans and elves do (to include faction arties). Though I understand your RP request, I think a soul glaive on a human will breakdown the differentiation that makes us play gargs in the first place.

The RP part for me would be secondary to the utilization of a throwing weapon for those that do not wish to play a gargoyle. EA/Mythic has pretty much made all the money they will make off of the SA expansion. So not as many people will play as a gargoyle. So what? As long as we keep playing, and paying,I doubt the Devs would care which species we play.

*nods* Yes, but, this would open up a whole can of worms all over again with regard to elven equipment that humans can't wear.

I understood what you wanted, not a bad idea in and of itself. I just wasn't sure of the motivation behind it. And, yes, no ammo cost at all is very attractive. Remember though you are trading ammo cost for some "rules for engagement" that do not exist with archery.

I think a human using a soul glaive and the multitude of arties (including faction) availabe to these races would "throw" balance out of whack in PvP and would be overpowered in PvM.

There are work-arounds to elven equipment limitations such as joining a faction and buying the earrings. If you have the gold to spend, imbuing is also a good limitation-buster for the most part.I do have a thrower garg in my character "stable" so I am familier with the different rule set for throwing ranges and such. I guess I would just like to see a human/elf option to the skill.

If the Developers did allow for open use of the throwing skill for all races,I would not want the same throwing weapons that are already found in the game. As I stated before, the "npc blacksmiths" would see the gargoyles with the throwing weapons and would make a similier type weapon.

btw if they add throwing to human they also have to add archery to gargoyles...

but I think it's a bit hard imagine a gargoyle with a bow while is jumping up and down while flying :D
Maybe crossbows for gargoyle so they can use archery, but no bows... bows requires a position that can't be obtained while flying :D

I would like to have a 40 ssi bow i could use on my thrower.. more equivalent artifacts for my garg that humans/elves currently have...but I don't... cause I choose to use a garg.

Differences are good.. embrace the diversity of UO!

That sounds fair,as long as the bow counts as a two-hander that requires archery skill to use effectivly. I do think the Devs should have made a smaller,"modified",throwing weapon for non-gargs that has the SA expansion.
