Ok,someone asked for a poll.
Not a vet reward at all???You forgot one option...
Just saying... it should be an option. Not a vet reward at all???
Yeah, I thought about it, as I've never been one to think super cool, extremely useful items should be exclusive. If it was a low-end younger year vet reward that would alleviate much of the disparity though.Just saying... it should be an option.
Truly... take my opinion as it is. That Shard transfer thing will likely never effect me. There are no other shards for me.
Pay to Win is never good for a game. They should just allow people to "age" their accounts for $9.99 per month...
I'm just saying people don't understand the difference anymore between a few years here and there...Pay to Win is never good for a game.
I tend to agree with that statement as well. Especially since I'm sure there are a good percentage of players with 14 year old accounts who bought them or were given them. How are those account holders any more loyal a customer than everyone else?I'm just saying people don't understand the difference anymore between a few years here and there...
No, it's already been established that the shields are account bound and so are the tokens that that particular shield creates. This would really depend if the tokens gotten could be used by others with no age check.
Well, Messana has already stated unequivocally that the tokens generated by the shields can only be used by the owner/character that placed/locked-down the shield. This would really depend if the tokens gotten could be used by others with no age check.
Personally I hate the concept of vet rewards. My current account is at 10 years (sold my original account long ago). How am I supposed to talk people into playing? Eventually they find out about the vet reward program and I have to say "well, you have to play for 14 YEARS before you can get that particular item." Ridiculous.

They do make money from selling them, they are called Character Transfer Tokens. They could have made money selling them... Just saying.
I think at this point in UO's life, it's a really bad idea to up front tell potential new players that these are items you will NEVER be able to own.And I find it normal that someone who's had an account as active for 1, 2, 3, 4 years etc. cannot possibly expect to be eligible for the same type of reward as someone else who's had the account as active for 14 years.
Never said they were something that was needed to play. I'm not even making this exclusive to the 14th year stuff. I think anything over 5 years, at this point, is unachievable by a new player. Not that I think the game will be closed by then, but to expect a new player to think "Only 7 more years and I can get a _______" is insanity. There is a fine line in this type of system between perk and detriment.Veteran rewards are perks. They are not something you need to play - the game is completely playable without them.
lolyou decide to not play the game because the you'll never get the best veteran reward you are doing it wrong.
Do you know that at 10 years 48 months is all that you missed paying for? If you want to spend the $480 dollars on transfer tokens who is stopping you? That is 24 transfers that are not restricted like the shard shield transfers. The same goes for 1 year "vets", if they want to spend $1690 on UO items i'm not going to stop them.I think at this point in UO's life, it's a really bad idea to up front tell potential new players that these are items you will NEVER be able to own.

Is this true? I knew they were gonna be account bound, but only the character that placed the shield????Well, Messana has already stated unequivocally that the tokens generated by the shields can only be used by the owner/character that placed/locked-down the shield.
Based upon the screen shots of the Shard Transfer Shield in another thread, it's clear that the shield itself is non-transferable & account-bound.
So, as is, these can only be chose, placed and used by a 14th year account.
Well, I own two 14 year accounts and I don't appreciate you reminding me how much I spent.Do you know that at 10 years 48 months is all that you missed paying for? No, i just tested it...you can re use on another character on the same account. Though it didnt give me another token i was able to click it and get the message i had to wait a month at least...Is this true? I knew they were gonna be account bound, but only the character that placed the shield????
can u imagine a first year player thinking...wow.....oh ..wow in 13 years time i can take advantage of those awesome xshard token freebie shields....yahhhhh roll on 13 years.....cant wait...yahhhh yahhh after ive shelled out $1000 dollars i will ACTUALLY get the best gift ever made...most usefull gift ever made14. It's an incentive for the younger accounts to keep plqying. No 1 year account should get it. for the simple fact it IS the greatest reward ever given.
*Sigh**sighs*
Its not for the community for heavens sake, its a bloody VET REWARD.
Why cannot people just accept this already and stop with the damn moaning.
