No need to YELL AT ANNA !! to get your point across...

Hmm, clarify one bit for me tho... when you are risking not having fun, do you have fun while you risk it ? If that is so, how do you convince yourself the unfun is stronger than the fun meanwhile ; at the end ?
My point is that if you enjoy a certain type of play then you don't risk anything because you are having fun. You can get more pixels to replace whatever you lost. it's no big deal but if you don't enjoy it then it is a risk.

Sadly there are those that believe that loss of their pixels, is tantamount to "real" physical and mental anguish, thus not to be tolerated in the slightest.

Since accumulation of said "stuff" appears to be the core of the game as the years have rolled on, then that's only to be expected.

*shrugs*

When the game no longer felt like a "game", that's when I called it a day. Too many folks preoccupied with their "stuff" and their own self-importance in a pixel world.

Often makes me wonder... did the game change the people, or did the people change the game...

A couple of hours? I solo baracoon spawns in 30 minutes, rikktor spawns in 45 minutes...and this is on siege where anything I wear is lootable so I can't fully deck out my armor and carry multiple weapons. With 2-3 people you should be able to do the entire spawn in 15 minutes, tops, 10 minutes if you're suited for pure pvm.

If most are playing wow also, it's unlikely they enjoy UO anyways, the games are so radically different that you can't even compare the two, wow is basicly the ultimate level based grindfest, may as well say they didn't enjoy UO so they started playing Call of Duty instead.
I'm actually learning the so called "endgame" in UO so it takes me longer than someone who is playing for years. I didn't play this game since 2000 and only recently started (4ish months).

I can see how much harder UO is for a truly NEW player though. I play with some and they have trash templates as they only recently started this year.

PvP was forced upon you prior to Trammel era and I was actually not that bad at it, but never liked it much. You just had to PvP almost all the time. It seemed silly and inferior to games like Quake back then, when you could frag away and have a good deal of fun.

When they created Trammel, they did the right thing back then. It saved the dying game which suffered a huge population loss due to PKs and griefers. But from what I understand, they began to gradually add the need to go to Fel from time to time to please the dwindling PvP crowd.

The only problem that prior AoS everyone was 7xGM in exceptional armor, carrying pots, bandies and reagent bags. Right now PvM and PvP are so different and most PvE temps are sitting ducks in PvP. Take tamer-bard or sampire for example. They can't do squat in PvP but are very strong in PvM. Defeating one is easier than beating 5yo child IRL.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

My pvm Sampire does just fine at the Yew gate. He is ofc not my first choice of pvp character but depending on stat-loss or who is playing what account in my house I use him.

To simply enjoy a little pvp or hold your own at the gate the type of template is much less important then having the experience and nerve.

And make no mistake about it. The big difference between pvm and pvp is that it takes nerve to really pvp well. Assuming you are a vet.

It takes no nerve at all to pvm. Boring and predictable. Strap a heart monitor on any vet pvper and you wont see a blip no matter what you are pvming. And the pvper will for sure be dropping that monster as fast or twice as fast as any non-pvper.
The truth hurts. Deal with it.

I'm surprised this topic is still being discussed...

All shards are already Basicly "Trammel Only" the only thing i could see that Trammies would get effected by, is General Chat, from pvp.

We (pvpers) have been running out of places to fight since tram came out, aside from the 2 fel spawns that came out with the SA Expansion.
(I didn't include fel corgul, because its only one person/group at a time, and you cannot be raided)

With that said, someone name something that was Nerfed for Pvp reasons, that effected Pvm. I cant think of one thing that has been nerfed in such a way.

How about we just concentrate on keeping the shards we've got populated and open?
