Major Major bug in loot system for new Shame

Warning!

Being "in form" at the death of a major Boss in shame has drastic consequences for named arti items in your pack!

Actually dieing in form may be the culprit, sorting this out now.

*edit- General chat now reporting more transformations from people venturing in to the dungeon in a luck suit yesterday, banking regular field suit and logging on this morning to find the suit in the bank changed. Holy CRAP!*

At time of transformation:
Guildy was in lich form.
burning corpse was gold hued
items were in a bag, in the pack
changed after looting the MOB corpse
some items changed right away: chuckles hat, Heart of the Lion *AoF- is being worn and did NOT change, he had put that on already* Leurocians Mempo, robe of the equinox, vesper museum turn in order shield, and royal guard survival knife.

THEN after changing to human form, he watched a crafted leather sleeves spined w 137 luck, and bleu set ALSO change while in the bag.

There were no imbued items on the character, so no idea if that would effect outcome in any way. But crafted items are not immune, at least not if carrying an exceptional label and char name.

In shame, named items including:Heart of the Lion, Bleu set, chuckles hat, robe of the equinox have after looting a burning corpse while in form, been converted into items from the new loot system.

also worth noting, this burning whatevers corpse was gold when it died, might have something to do with it, trying to put all pieces of the puzzle together here.

no all luck items, for a test *edit-of no luck loot vs luck loot*, were brought to dungeon in a bag. Bag was open on the guildies screen in his pack, and he just starts screaming in vent while we are looting the corpse "WTF!? WTF!?" watching the items change. In the bag in his pack.*while in Lich form*

I have a conj garb, and mantle of the fallen on my toon right now. Hoping as long as it stays equipped it is safe. *crosses fingers*

WoW's GMs would return all of the missing/improperly-transformed items, and do it accurately because they have individual data on players' gear. They wouldn't need to do a server revert.

Mebbe UO will need to revert though... or, SHOULD, let's say that. I suspect they don't have the data they need to do individual item restorations efficiently.

It sounds like the item situation just became very mixed up.

Someone else mentioned that the "regular" suit (full of artis) they had banked while they went to Shame was all changed to regular armor when they pulled it out of the bank after visiting Shame in their luck suit.

I was just in Shame a bit ago and have not noticed anything wacky with the suit I have on or the banked sorcerer's suit, luck jewelry set, virtue armor cloak and some virtue armor pieces, plane shields and sword I had in the bank on the same character. Took all that stuff out and put it at the keep though in case it's a bank issue. (Doesn't sound like it is though.)

I'm not sure if this second person whose banked suit ever went into another form in Shame. He might have said he was on a peace tamer but it was getting a bit confusing (for me) to keep track of everyone and what they said. Clearly a problem though. Hopefully the people that lost stuff can get it back without a revert, but if that's what it takes, I'm okay with it. Just means I have to re-collect a ton of Christmas stuff off a bunch of chars and turn it in again. No loss for me there but time. Hehe.

Heheh this is almost funny. Almost.

See, the player bank is kinda part of the player like another inventory. It's not far out in left field that some function could incorrectly parse through both the player inventory + the bank contents in certain conditions. So yeah ... if someone wanted to do shame and be... safe from item transformations.. you could uh, put all your stuff in your house... but I think that would be a waste. I'ma guess they will not want to keep this server state if some players' banked items have had code hit them that was meant for a different function (such as generation of magical properties on loot).

No idea if it will necessarily change to a lesser item, I think some of the items that resulted are titled. But that really doesn't matter. Its the fact that things continue to change, once looted, or in a char back pack as opposed to on a corpse. Not to mention it makes old loot system items that are rare and subjects them to a process that makes them vulnerable to loosing all desirrable properties, names.

Hey wow, had they rolled this change out to Origin before the Phoenix armor tickets showed up?

Well, I took screen shots of my tamer's suit pieces just to have proof (if only for myself) of what they look like RIGHT NOW. Not terribly inclined to screen shot every individual piece of armor, jewelry and weapons she had in the bank that I parked at the keep though. Hoping she will be okay because I was only in Shame for a little bit this morning and didn't touch anything related to summoning stuff for the next level or get much further than the first flame ele at the start of level 3. Moused over the altar on the 2nd level but that was it and she only has 2 "Crystal of Shame" in her pack. (Curiously, though, they are not reflected on her loyalty gump. It says she has 0 dungeon crystal points for Shame. I guess possession of "crystals" in your pack must be different than "crystal points." More reading to do to clear my confusion.)

That's the funny part, well, no there isn't anything funny about it, but this all happened RIGHT AFTER a GM left us and we had performed summons to demonstrate this problem, and they left to report the issue.

I have just successfully replicated the bug on TC1.

I used a character in a full luck suit - In my backpack I took a bag and filled it with all the Doom Artifacts given to you by saying "Give arties". I went into Lich form, fought a regular Air Elemental on Level 3. I hit it a couple times, and then let it kill me. When I went and looted my corpse, everything that was in the bag was now a regular shame loot item. (orny, aegis, AoF, inquis ect ect all changed).

I tried it in Vamp Form and no form(didnt seem to work tho requires more testing)

That may be one way to effect the change but it is more wide spread than that.

*more* that would not explain the transformation of the surge shield in a tamers pack inside a pouch.

From what I've been told, it's any "old" item in a sub-pack (second pack from main), which is also part of the situation. Is this the case, Viquire? From what Promathia said, seems to be the case. I was unable to replicate it as I wasn't told it required Lich Form and death. I was told it happened just from walking around with items in sub-pack, but I couldn't get replication that way.

Ed: scratch out form, only a sub-pack and death seem to be needed, hm. Perhaps it has to do with a certain level of the dungeon? Except I'd think all parts of the dungeon are on the same sub-server.

One guy said he banked his "regular" suit and went to shame in his "luck" suit. When he went to the bank afterward, he said that the items in his banked "regular" suit had turned into other, lesser pieces. I believe he did say that the banked suit was in its own separate bag/box in his bankbox.

death does not seem to be required. All items that experienced this problem to my knowledge were inside a container inside the pack.

It looks like character copy from Origin to TC1 is currently disabled. Seems like you may still be able to character copy from some other shards to TC1 though. I checked on Napa and TC1 was selectable, whereas from Origin it was not.

Every time Ive had it work , it has been on 3rd level and the items that changed were in a separate bag.

Ok, I got it to work by not dieing. Had a bag of artifacts - Was in level 3 for about 20 minutes - nothing would change. The minute I LEFT the dungeon through the front entrance, EVERYTHING in the bag changed to shame loot.

And guys... EVs alway attacked anything and anyone in their vicinity... cast yourself a earth elemental if you want something under your control.

You guys got used to the tramellised version of the EV, perhaps it was meant to be restored to the way it was...

Well hopefully it is an easy fix for the devs, maybe there is an issue reading the code for these items, thus turning them into random loot of the same kind.
