Wow, we never started the Christmas Gifts THIS early.

So I assume that means no Thanksgiving event. However, if it just involved turning the giant turkeys on for the third year in a row, I'm not sure it was missing much.

The Halloween event this year was the weakest yet. No offense to GrimmOmen, who did a fantastic job on the pumpkins, but I wouldn't blame the hors d'oeuvres chef if I went away from a banquet hungry because there was no main dish.

It was refreshing to see the pumpkins get a decent overhaul this year after years of the same-ol-same-ol, but there wasn't even a Halloween Quest, and trick or treating was a spot-on re-run. They couldn't even be bothered to rehue the candy or give them different labels.

Halloween is a jackpot for fantasy adventure -- for goodness sake, its a celebration of eldritch spirits, monsters and dark powers. It's a limitless mine for this genre. And we couldn't even come up with a simple "run to point A, get macguffin B-C, and kill the foozle" quest along those lines?

The Christmas gifts look to be lame once more, but it is interesting how they make them in such a way that volume is no longer a factor -- i.e., there's no real reason to shard trade any more if there's only 6 variations of the gifts.

Sure, Holiday Events are the icing on the cake for this game, but it seems like the icing is awful thin lately.

Considering that 2 radio stations are playing Christmas music 24/7 now I am not surprised by this move at all.

BTW, the icing is also low-cal ...

No giant turkeys please. Ever notice how nobody complains about the halloween garbage being sold in stores as early as Aug. But alot gripe about christmas stuff in Nov.? I would rather have christmas stuff to look at early than all the ugly halloween stuff which our neighbors will probably leave up till christmasrolleyes:

I love All Hallows Eve.... much more than X-mas and it's mass commercialism that has destroyed the true meaning of Christmas. As it is now Christmas has become an extremely depressive holiday for a great many folk. Stress filled and depressing. But the truth of the matter is folk spend more and businesses want to attract that kind of spending... So they start it as early as they dare.

Where Halloween is more about fun than anything else.

Not sure why people complain about early Christmas content, unless they're full of hate or bound by bad credit history. Stores began to stock Christmas items as early as July due to the economy. But anyway, the SoT book sounds pretty nice to me. Hopefully we get more books in the future.

I know of some stores that started xmas early in the summer. I went to to Lowes to get some more Halloween deco. It was already gone and had the Xmas stuff up and this was 2 weeks before Halloween.

The US Thanksgiving day is not a world wide holiday where Xmas is mostly ( not all countires) recognized. So I could imagine if I was from another country playing a game with a holiday I dont know of or understand. Just location of the game itself makes up the holiday schedule.

I do know most of the Japanese holidays but that was for UO purposes to farm shards lol.

LoL @ Uriah.......My hubby calls christmas "cashmas" he is a scrooge. I do not look at christmas as to how many gifts I can get or give I could have a really nice christmas with no gifts in the picture at all. For some it is all about how much money they can blow on thier kids. Looks like a toy store blew up in thier living rooms. And Halloween is becoming that way to no more just buy a pumpkin and carve it and hand out candy. Now its all about how much spooky stuff you can get in your yard... blow up spiders life size witches that scream and the plastic graveyard look the never ending fake cobwebs. And this year at my husbands work place they had a costume and pumpkin carving competition and the company handed out little trick or treat bags with candy in them:coco: These are adults he does not work in a nursery school. Its a factory. No he did not enter either thought it to be stupid also. So the mass commercialism is in halloween to.
