Wow, we never started the Christmas Gifts THIS early.
So I assume that means no Thanksgiving event. However, if it just involved turning the giant turkeys on for the third year in a row, I'm not sure it was missing much.
The Halloween event this year was the weakest yet. No offense to GrimmOmen, who did a fantastic job on the pumpkins, but I wouldn't blame the hors d'oeuvres chef if I went away from a banquet hungry because there was no main dish.
It was refreshing to see the pumpkins get a decent overhaul this year after years of the same-ol-same-ol, but there wasn't even a Halloween Quest, and trick or treating was a spot-on re-run. They couldn't even be bothered to rehue the candy or give them different labels.
Halloween is a jackpot for fantasy adventure -- for goodness sake, its a celebration of eldritch spirits, monsters and dark powers. It's a limitless mine for this genre. And we couldn't even come up with a simple "run to point A, get macguffin B-C, and kill the foozle" quest along those lines?
The Christmas gifts look to be lame once more, but it is interesting how they make them in such a way that volume is no longer a factor -- i.e., there's no real reason to shard trade any more if there's only 6 variations of the gifts.
Sure, Holiday Events are the icing on the cake for this game, but it seems like the icing is awful thin lately.
