The items that give good points are mostly unattainable for a lot of players. I would like to see loot from monsters provide more points than they do now.

I've dropped several bags of monster loot (about 40 or so items) and gotten less than 600-700 points per bag.

If not for this clean up, then for the next one - please make monster loot more valuable when turning the stuff in please.

Maybe it is a matter of what you fight.

There was a thread i can't find anymore here in the forum with some indications.

Anyway you can go for:

Miasma paragon box gives like 1.4k points each and with a scorpion slayer weapon/spellbook it goes down pretty fast;
Dark wisps paragon boxes, 600 points each or something, in wisps' dungeon (ilshenar);
Dark guardians in doom are also a nice source of points, because you can get lots of low level treasure maps;
Bottles of ichor give 200 points and spiders in Underworld are full of them;
Power Crystals from golems/minions and alike grant 100 points;

Then there are the artifacts but for those you need to group with someone unless you like to play the sampire or whatever.

Granted you need some work to make up the points (in a honest way) but it is not that bad. Imho the items are not worth the effort.

even a new player starting today training a new gargoyle thrower could obtain point easy. Those void orbs that drop pretty common are worth 200. I've gotten alot of paragon chest didn't even bother opening from trolls to demons anywhere from 200 to 900 points.

here are a few options to generate items for points;
  • fishing up MIBs (100-1k pts)
  • hunting miasma for their chests (1.1k pts)
  • items from treasure hunting (100-1.5k pts)
  • niporailem the thief (epiphany armor is 100% drop 1k pts)
  • champ spawns (scrolls and artifacts drop 100-5k pts)
  • the new items in shame should be worth a decent amount of points.

most of this stuff can be done by a new player/small group.

i'm sure there's a other options out there too.

Wait till TC1 goes live to all shards. The loot is worth way more points then the loot you are getting now.

There are plenty of things you can fight to get items that will give you a decent amount of points.
Just go down the list of items that are still obtainable and find whatever it is that works for you to turn in.

I know of at least one thing you can kill (but wont say what it is!!! except that its not a peerless or champ) that will give you 9k points in about a half hour.
There are other things that can probably give more, possibly even double that if you have the right type of character.
You really just need to search for the right monsters.

Don't think just because a bunch of dimwits trashed their very old Christmas items and other gifts/rares that you can't still earn well over a million points from items that are still obtainable. The more time you put into it, the more points you will get. I could have farmed up well over 15 million points since the cleanup started, but I got the things I wanted most and decided it was time to work on my other character's skills and suits.

You can get plant dye enough for an entire suit, for very little... You can use leather dye, or get tokuno dyes for cheap.

If you want the status of having a suit dyed with the newest leetest color of dye, then perhaps your priorities are a little off.

Mine ingots for a day, and see how many points you get... its a very nice return... I just trained up mining on a new char and turned in all the colored ingots... LOTS of points

Because the mysterious world of RL has held the lion's share of my attention until this last week, I've literally just begun turning anything in for spring cleaning.

In a Good News/Bad News/Good News format:-

Good News:- After 13yrs or so, it's high time I had another spring clean. My once heaving secures & lockdowns are already thanking me.

Bad News:- Spring Clearance means I have incentive to empty houses and close down accounts I've only kept open solely for house-holding. I'll be closing at least one, and probably two, of three live accounts.

Good News:- I've only just barely scratched the surface and am well over 2m points. Yay!

Even if I never spend a single point, I'm glad of the incentive for clearance & closure of unused accounts. Thanks, Devs!

While i'd have prefered them to show a bit of creativity with new phases on the Clean Up (dyes are ok but soooo dull, would like to see something more original) at least the new items they're introducing aren't game breakers.

We don't need these dyes to play this game, well i don't at least.

But I'm probably talking to myself lol. People MUST have these dyes it seems...

I'd advise strongly against letting the team know the extent to which Clean Up events may reduce subscriptions....

Anyway as to the main topic of the post....Clean up events are held, as far as I can tell, to help turn hoarding into a viable playstyle, as so many other playstyles are.

Periodically you are in essence rewarded just for hoarding.

(Of course there's also the thing about reducing information on the server loads, thereby turning the events into "stuff sinks" as opposed to "gold sinks.")

If you do not hoard, then your having the space is its own reward.

Take me for example. I deliberately don't hoard. Which means I'm almost left out of these events and I'm fine with that.

I had just enough stuff to almost get a bless deed. I received help from a friend (thank you Malag's player, or was it Marty's player? Malag I think) which put me just over the edge.

By happenstance I found some other pointed items that were just enough to buy a Queen Dawn robe.

And, really, that's more than I could have reasonably expected to get, because I am not a hoarder. If you're not a hoarder then complaining about this is like complaining that your fisher can't get t-map loot.

If I misunderstood your post somehow I apologize.

Yeppers... I'm doing those and a few others, getting up to 25K points an hour of play time, about 10,000 more points if I turn in the gold from that time. It looks like the turn-in isn't going to end, so I can save up for the items I haven't got yet.

Sure, THP may not be happy unless someone dumps a 100K point item on him, but some people are never satisfied.

Eric: Find a spawn your comfortable with that drops points of some type and work it.

Doing a medium level Ish spawn I have farmed over 1 million points since cleanup started..far from the best point per hour spawn, but it fits my play style so I am having fun.

No, you may not be able to buy everything, but games are supposed to be about choices......you make a choice, and based on that choice you get an outcome.

Life: almost impossible for a lot of players

I saw these dolce & gabanna jeans for like 1800 bucks the other day. I tried turning in like 60 pop cans at the recycling center, but still I'm NOWHERE NEAR able to afford them!! I mean seriously, $1800 x 7days (so I have a different pair for every day of the week), that's like $12,600!! This needs to be addressed; next season pop cans really need to be worth more for turn ins.

Sorry, that was really d-bag-ish and uncalled for. But seriously, try to keep some perspective. I'd sympathize if it was some functional thing that gives some people a major advantge over others, but it's JUST DYE. In a couple of months some new color will come out and these dyes will be totally forgotten for the newest hotness.

Well I've got myself some bless deeds and I'm afraid the prospect of even more dyes leaves me somewhat underwhelmed so I have all I want from the present clean up.

Do we need more dyes?. I have 10 different Dye tubs locked down this includes the odd ones like the old black reward one. I have a full set of 10 Tokuna dyes with 50 charges plus odd partially used ones. I have a number of each of the 10 one shot dyes from the second phase of Tokuna and a few of the 3rd round one shot ones.

At the time of the introduction of the makeable dyes I didnt bother to make or get any at all. So I repeat do we really need more dyes?. I certainly aint going to buy any.

Bah you have no imagination! Dark guardians in doom drop maps. Take a sampire with radiant scim, take along 5 pack mules. 2 guardians spawn for each critter and person in room. Park your critters NW corner of room and every 20 seconds 12 guardians will appear. hit whirlwind and kills them most of the time before the gas can even effect your critters. If it does simply cleanse by fire. I've found you average about 200 points per map so thats 200 X 12= 2400 points every 20-30 seconds. Then count the fact that you'll be pulling in 360 bones every spawn. (how much are gold skulls worth?) Thats just one way to make points quick. Just need imagination

BTW you could fill up those 5 packys in an hour which nets you 625 maps and approx. 18k+ bones which translates into 125k points in maps and 18k points from bones (turning them into skulls).

What sever do you play on where this room will spawn every 20 seconds?
I myself hunt in that room of Doom with the Dark Guardians. I play on Chesapeake and the room will only spawn them again 60 seconds after the room resets. I use a Blaze of Death, EOO, and WW attack with a ton of LMC. I kill up to 20 Dark Guardians in 1 or 2 WW hits. But that's only once per minute. That turns into 20 t-maps and 15k gold per minute. I make more than 1M points turning in (trashing) the t-maps alone, and have made several M gold.
I personally like the ability to farm items for the clean-up, but also feel that it's abusing the event. It's supposed to be a cleanup event, and I feel that items should have an internal variable that saves the date and time it was spawned into the world. If that date and time is after the launch of the cleanup event, it should be worthless. The turning in should be specially placed chests, or converted trash barrels in homes. As to not accept newly created items and not to destroy items worth 0 points.

I have been focused on merchant ships. I average about 8 -15 ships per day.

A slow day I get around 30k points and a busy day I will get around 55k points.

All I turn in is top three ingots (agapite, verite, valorite)
Barbed leather
copper wire
ship cannons
smugglers chests with liquor

That's it Just those items alone render all those points.

I take all the wood to the vesper museum to get chuckles hats to sell on the vendor.

The other items I either use or sell.

I didn't have anything of value to turn in when this started.
I have turned in roughly 1.9 million points from doing only merchant ships.

p.s.
I mine the hell out of saltpeter and make my own ammo. I also sell surplus ammo and it makes good money.

Actually I play on napa and just tested it, about 30 seconds. I'm sure you are aware that you have to keep moving around to get them to pop. Yeah it might be a little cheesy, but would be kinda foolish not to take advantage of it no?

I do think some items are still missing though. Can't even tell you how many times I've seen useless BODs lying around on the floor. Whyfor we can't turn these in?

What about aquarium decorations and fish? Yeah I'm a hoarder so I have a whole stack of old dead fish bones and decorations from when I ran my aquarium. Whyfor can't we turn these in?

And finally, I have a whole chest full of old spring cleanup deeds. Please, please, please get those made available for turn-in!

thanks - Els

I solo slasher

Sometimes I solo about 5times in a row, net about total 35k to 50k points normally. If luckily, they drop the afs, and the berseker scythe together which is 15k points.

If i open my brother's PC and use 2 characters, i usually net about 50k to 80k points if luckily sometimes.

Solo 1 slasher takes me about 35mins to 40mins nowadays.

And if you have an okay luck score, krakens drop rope quite often, and each piece of rope is worth 1.6K points.
I've made a fair amount of points just by killing kraken. Enough to pay for two full sorcerors suit and four scrolls of alacrity.
I must add that I have been playing for 5 months only, as I am a rather new player.

Yes, it's almost impossible if you expect to do it from straight forward magic items. First it was meant for us to clear out accumulated 'gifts' we didn't want, Christmas, easter, valentines etc
to gain points from hunting look for the other items monsters carry
Treasure maps
power crystals
ropes
etc

The old holiday and anniversary stuff is 99% of what I turned in. Had a lot of it piling up in ticket form from about 2007 across all shards. Dumped quite a bit of it, but did save some of everything. I also threw in treasure maps I'll probably never get around to doing and small pieces of blackrock. Managed to accumulate about 22 million points but it's spread across about 25 shards! On every shard but Mugen and Siege, I got a couple of sorcerer suits and scout suits, a beehive, a few pairs of nocturne earrings, one set of the luck jewelry, an elven tapestry or two, maybe a chest of drawers, and the lily pads. I think I had enough for the horse barding and the virtue tiles on a few shards too. I'm not in the habit of using bless deeds, so I didn't get any of those anywhere.

At first it seemed this way to me as well.. but after actually going through accounts and getting rid of all duplicate gifts and such.. dumping all dungeon loot into one box so My main gets all the points.. Ditto for crab and lobsters.. boots.. shoes.. anything fished up..

I've built up some points.. not the folks that had millions the first day..

But not worthless.. Got some things I wanted.

If you have a Stealther, check every possible Barrel in Shame and loot all the Items out of it - it takes aprox. 10 minutes to be overloaded, bless, recall to bank, drop the bag into it (but first check the items you loot, sometimes there are good items to keep in the barrels...) - for every full bag you will end up with around 750 to 1100 Points (thats the range i noticed yet) so with sorting the stuff and all you will end up with around 5000 Points/Hour easy - if you dont unravel the items, this is an easy way to farm points - all you need is magery, 100% LRC suic, stealth, hiding, Runebooks...i do this since the shame changes went live - sometimes even drop a EV here and there and kill some monsters too, for extra loot..never died yet, dont use any resource, all you need is skills...

Now it depens on how many hours you plan doing that, and how many days
If you play 4 hours/day average 7 days a week and spend all your time doing that you will be able to farm 28x5k = aprox. 140k Points a week - only by looting out of barrels in shame - (if you got lockpicking you can even add the loot out of the chests and boxes down there too)

So, this is another very easy way to get CleanUp-Points...or loot/steal as much as possible wire out of Blacksmith Barrels, and whips of the Ranger Huts...they also give very good points (i think 50 or more each?)

But dont forget: "Have FUN playing the game and getting your Cleanup points" ;)

Not all of the barrel items will be worth anything. Best bet is to take a decent combat character and look for Lower Requirements XX% or anything with a high intensity score. Also the combat character will on occasion get an anti-virtue dungeon artifact which is 1500 points by itself.

Fishing up SOSs are also a good source.

Finally, filling small BODs that net DC-Bronze runic hammers to toss the hammers is also a good method of getting some points (for those who do BODs).

Sure you can get more/better loot from fighting, but i was talking about not fihting, just looting ;)

So i tested this today for almost exactly 1 hour - i average 90 Points/Minute...So doing this 1 hour a day 30 days a month you will end up with more than 160k Points after a month...

I will also check with swoop loot the next days just out of curiousity..

Not bad for non fighting chars...

I usually buy a large bag (bagballs work great) and while I'm killing Trogs I will throw their loot into the bags. When I hit my weight cap I head out, teleport to my house, trash the bagball, pick up another one, drop the gold, and get back to the Trogs. Takes me about 2 minutes (max) and I've wracked in thousands of points (also a few mil gold).

I really just started doing this because I wanted to get the Valor Tile for my house, now I've got a whole set after just a few days (1-2 hours per day).

All this just while training up my Swordsmanship, too.
