that may have been true but the recent TOS seems to spell out that you cant sell accounts at all now, and there doesnt seem to be a way with the new account system to do so anyways. (unless you create a master account for every account you play, or only have one account, but either way multiple master accounts is against the TOS also....)I think you can still buy and sell accounts they are just wanting you to use their account transfer program which in the past was around $30 if you could find anyone that knew what it was, and by doing this it wipes out all the old owners info and counts so that they can't come back a year later and try to reclaim the account. Which does happen more often then you would think.
Either you or Electronic Arts may terminate your Account at any time without further obligation to the other. . . IF THE SERVICE OR YOUR ACCOUNT IS TERMINATED OR CANCELED AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING: . . . YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TRANSFER, SELL OR ASSIGN ANY CHARACTERS OR ITEMS TO ANYONE ELSE . . .
sorry... but...

do not pursue this avenue unless you wish to learn the truth about Ultima...
Ya I'm with ya on EA stopping accoutn transfers I'm just wondering if anyone knows why. IT seems like it would only up EA revenue. I can't seem to see a downside to it.Terms of Service:
congratulations ... YOU got it in one ...
No idea what your trying to say here. It doesn't make any sense.
The UO TOS doesn't say that you cannot sell your account. In fact, it explicitly says that you can sell accounts:Terms of Service:
The clause quoted by Syrius applies to a different case: you are not allowed to sell your account after it has been terminated or canceled. If I'm reading this correctly (but I'm not a lawyer...), you should still have the right to transfer an account that is active and in good standing.Any assignment in violation of this Agreement is void, except that you may transfer your Account to another person provided that person accepts the terms of this Service Agreement.
Implying that you can sell your account if you get express authorization by EA.Unless expressly authorized by EA, you may not sell, buy, trade or otherwise transfer your Account or any personal access to EA Services, Content or Entitlements, including by use of auction websites.
bit jumpy are we ?ACCOUNT IS TERMINATED OR CANCELED
You claim to have worked as a volunteer who had special code which could fix duping, black holing, and speed hacks, and yet you seem to have missed the years and years during which the OSI sanctioned account transfer process existed. You then call someone who evidently knew about this program a "N000000b", which is silly because the fact of the matter only changed with this latest move to the new billing system.Fayled likes his men with muscles and not much brain, hence he likes to imagine me like this. I'm glad you think I deserve a thousand words !
I am rather the Bal-Lem, the winner of the end game.
And if you have no idea why EA prohibits account selling, you are a noob... thats what I am saying it's making lots of sense.
It's evident you aren't familiar with the system which was in place for years. Here's some reading material:I can see several reasons to not want account transfers...
1.) Someone sells an account but forgets to remove the account info - (Identity theft issue).
2.) Someone sells an account for cash or gold, then calls EA to claim the account was hacked and provides account key/other details to reclaim it abusing EA's systems to pull a scam.
3.) Someone sells an account and does not tell their friends. New account owner grabs runebook to friends houses and cleans them out.
I am sure there are other reasons...

Account transfer existed for years.

Pardon Tazar. I was referring to EA sanctioned account transfers.I can see several reasons to not want account transfers...

Was this agreement for sanctioned account transfers or what Tazar is referring to (see above quote).Well, regardless of whether you can sell them, you cannot sell anything on Stratics for currency. This relates to our fansite agreement and recently confirmed by the developers, themselves.

It was a great system.
I am familiar with the official account transfer system... but I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of transfers were done without that system which lead to my concerns above. If more had used the official system (which was always poorly advertised so that few knew or could find the details when needed) we might have seen a lot less scams and thefts in game.Pardon Tazar. I was referring to EA sanctioned account transfers.![]()
Well once they add the unlinking back in it should be easy for us to do it without their service.Ya I'm with ya on EA stopping accoutn transfers I'm just wondering if anyone knows why. IT seems like it would only up EA revenue. I can't seem to see a downside to it.
I'm good with the transfer fee and prefer it for a safe transfer. I could understand on any other online game where this might be an issue since most are just money/item/level grinds. Which is how they get you to stay on and play the game. UO is a different beast though. You cant make up the years....Well once they add the unlinking back in it should be easy for us to do it without their service.
But in general, videogame companies loathe the used game market and they are all working towards either discouraging it, or charging you a fee to transfer it to somebody else.
