Most players have all the artifacts available. Is it time for a new wave of more powerful artifacts to earn?

I said yes just because but honestly they should focus more on skill not items.

Nope, game needs to get back to Skill based vs the Item based as it has become in the last few yrs.

I'd say yes, a revision of doom has been mentioned a few times with new or upgraded arties off of new or upgraded bosses.

Crafting does pretty well for itself these days with armor and weapons. High quality runic made weapons/gear seem easier to obtain. I see more people wearing more crafted imbued player gear then arties by far.. and yes I do remember the days when crafters were unwanted lest to repair (AoS-right before Mondain Legacy).

Let's face it, a few of the revised arties will be for pve mainly anyway (armor of fortune, ring of elements, dragon slayer lance etc).

Don't go hogwild, put out 10 that drop, 3 stealables.

Market wont be flooded for at least a year, then spring(fall) cleanup comes along, offer big points for em and make the list to trade points in desirable. Or make em non pof with set durability like the new spring suits.

This is just my personal opinion but the days of doom gauntlet were fun. The thought of going in, meeting new people, rolling the dice and dying a lot, but big reward sometimes (sometimes not, Bonecrusher).

Just not the same feeling when I'm looking for upgrades via luna vendors :sleep2:

...

They don't have to be more powerful, but a bit better themed would be nice as well as (and I'm sure Grimm is gonna wince if he reads this) unique graphics instead of constant rehued items.

And if you're gonna revamp the Doom ones, do the Minors in Ilsh as well!

No need for anything stronger. Need them muddied down and imbuable again. Throw is some unique weapons and armor with different artwork and two random mods not imbuable for their type. Let us fill in the blanks. Give slow two handers and nonmed armor as arty loot unique named modless with 550 cap. Don't even need to think up names, Let us title the weapon or armor with one time option(sucks imbuers get no recognition like a crafter)

Have a 6 peice armor set armor as a drop. Collect the 6 parts and imbue them. Once the 6 are worn they bond as a set with three random mods when worn.

Blank shields as drops with random HCI or skill count. Imbuer fills in the blanks

With this comes to mind new plant gathering of a sap that locks an imbuable item. Like the books red leaf lock.

Imbuers do get recognition because all items say "Imbued by ....."

No we don't need more artefacts at all much less more powerful ones. This game has become Item driven instead of skill driven like it used to be.

Not living in the past but its the way it should be, our skills should make us powerful not the items we wear. I'm not saying I don't love my LRC, LMC, MI etc because I would hate to lose them but we don't need further dependency on items.

I think we should. Not because I don't care about the skill vs item game play, because I do, but because that ship has sailed. More importantly a rare artifact should be a pretty decent powerful item. Since imbuing most artifacts are now just third rate items only useful for newer characters or as part of a training suit. This doesn’t seem to be the proper place for an artifact that you risked your life to get so I think either a revamp or the possibly of making them imbueable again would give them a value outside of the Clean up events as many of them currently are not powerful enough to get a relic fragments from unraveling them.

The games always been item based to an extent, adding more items won't hurt anything at all..

Years ago it was Vanq weapons and Fort armor, now it's Ornies and Tangles, and don't forget Slayer weapons pre-date AoS by a couple of years starting with all those bows you needed to get modified for your toons to use.

I said yes but I know how this debate will go. Horrible. The UO community is so dysfunctional we don't have the ability to agree on anything new that might compromise what the "haves" already have achieved. A new level means they are no longer in that category.

The fact remains that UO needs another AOS and as bad as that implementation was it was a big content push that provided lots to do. The game needs something for everyone to do and something to bring back old players. New UO players are a fantasy and will be as long as we have 2 decade old graphics running the game.

Why? We dont even use a 1/10 of them but for Spring Cleaning.
And the reason why is?..... high end runic player made imbued weapons/gear is better. With imbueing it made almost all the artifacts obsolete unless your looking for extra skill points (shadowdance leggings etc).

Imbueing shouldn't be the end all which it seems to be atm.

If you can only get great items from crafters... well I guess the pendulum has swung too heavily to the side of crafters.

Actually to make crafting viable again the best items should be only made by crafters. Not loot from mobs.

I would love to see new Artie's... Some even for us low lvl players can use.. What I mean by that is even though I can go and tackle some of the big bosses I would love to be able to fine some while say mining or countless hours of hacking on tree's.. Not to say I would want them to just fall into my pack like candy BUT would like it to fall like the Virtue Armor sets would fall into your packs.. Just a thought.. Oh yea one more thing.. WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO GET DWAFT'S as a race to choose from???

no no no no and NO to more powerfull items

more items, yes. MORE POWERFULL items? HELL NO! are you STUPID?

items get more and more powerfull with each expansion, thus rendering all the previous arties worthless. So we end up with a game FULL of WORTHLESS arties, WORTHLESS dungeons, WORTHLESS peerless bosses who drop WORTHLESS arties.. and ONE brand new area in the game that drops arties that are now the required norm.

Each expansion obsoletizes the last. It's completely ********.

So, as an "IQ over 70" person, I'm gonna go ahead and say NO to a new wave of even MORE powerfull items.

Yeah, we expect some gear to become obsolete as we grow in power, but things have gone out of control in MMORPGs with this.

I think new things really need to be new, not rehashed stuff with bigger numbers (or art even).

What happens as a result of power inflation is exactly what other games have, zone off content, where most of the game world becomes useless to the player because he's moved past that "level". And that sucks. So games have started using instanced zones to allow players to make use of what they have passed by. And instances like that make it "not one world".

All games have this problem to some extent, and it's expected to some degree. But peon to god is way too much.

Every Peerless still has a chance to drop one of the most desired artifacts in the game, one drops an item that most sampires want, Doom still has several great mage artifacts, etc.

I voted yes, of course. I want new stuff, new properties, new items, new pets and so on.

I don't think it would make sense doing that without a general rethinking of the whole loot/dungeon/environment stuff, they don't have the resources to do it so we will not see anything worth the wait.

Sometimes i think they should just drop the entire uo codebase (maybe open sourcing it for freeshards) and restart from scratch.

Absolutly NOT, UO should not be more item based than it already is. This not the spirit of UO!

i was perfectly happy running around in, and occasionally losing gm made armor untill AoS ruined everything, it should not be ruined further.

Yet more "items"?

No thanks.

The game is that item-centric already, I've strong suspicions that the next new race will be a solid object of some description.

Think about it...

Character creation > Choose Human, Elf, Gargoyle, or...

Lump of Stone.

Cool... you can choose a location (probably Luna bank) where your Lump of Stone character can sit permanently.

I think we need new artifacts But, the means of obtaining the "new artifacts" is whats important.

For those of you who think the game is all item-based, I assume your talking about pvp?

If so, Imbuing has pretty much FIXED this issue because now Everyone has the same armor, the stat caps are rediculously easy to hit with imbuing an entire armor set, surely a few artifacts nearly always come into play regardless, but is still relatively easy to reach these caps Without artifacts.
Basicly everyone has an equal opportunity to compete on the pvp field when it comes to Items, if you have the same armor set as someone else, and you lose its not because of "item based pvp".

The only Item based pvp there is in-game, would be Archers Vs Throwers.

and with imbuing this is basicly the same thing regarding the armor situation.

Pre AoS, it didnt take skill to pvp either people just died faster because Armor did absolutely nothing instead of it doing what it was intended to do.

I enjoyed running around and 2 shotting people with Explosion-Ebolt, or 2 hits from my LJer's Axe.

What.
I apologise on this one I got confused since all my imbued items were also crafted by the same person who did the imbuing.
