I agree with this. It's not that I don't like the Halloween Event. I think it was alot of fun or is alot of fun.
Every year I find myself thinking the same thing and don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining. I'm just really confused. Every year it's as if they take all the good content out from the year before and then spend huge amounts of time putting something new in.
Why is it done this way? I think every year they should just add on to what happened the year before. Think about it. If it's been 14 years, that's at least 14 things that should be happening on Halloween, minus the Shard of the Dead.
So, what I would do as the producer is, always make sure that the new items going in would be unique the next year. One way you could do that is by using a date. For example: If you have lollipops every year, you could have an 07 lollipop and then the next year, you keep the lollipop but change the date stamp.
So, now, we've added something that will stay in the game forever and also become rare the following year. So, now the next year, we add in the cemetary spawns. Now, the next year, we still have those cemetary spawns. Say you don't want the book to spawn or the trinket, ok, just change the items. Don't remove the whole spawn.
So, now we have lollipops and mini spawns. I also think these systems should start up automatically, at a certain date and time. This way all the different systems that are added, automatically come into play on a certain date and time.
To me, this would make the game improved, rather than taking stuff out, there would be more. Like, with Christmas you could have the Christmas Tree. You put a date on the tree and the next year you have another Christmas Tree but now you add reindeer but there's a date on the reindeer. So, now everyone can get the same thing but what makes them rare is there age or how long they have been in the game.
Same thing with snow. It should start at a certain time of year. Like Spring Cleaning. If they came up with certain items that could be used year after year, the system could come on automatically and then if the Devs wanted to add something special or new or tweak some things, they could do it before the systems came online.
So, then you would always expect certain things from the server, on a certain date and time and the Devs could always add things but if they didn't, it wouldn't matter that much because people would already be doing all of those different things that they do at that time of year.
I never understood why they would remove the other systems. There's nothing happening in the graveyards, there's no pumpkins with our names on them. There's no Jack-O-Lanterns with the Dev's name but they could of used everything. Maybe they would of made things more rare. Like, maybe only one black pumpkin would spawn. Maybe only 5 Jack-O-Lanterns would spawn but all of those things would still be there.
