It just amazes me I have been playing ultima longer than my son has been alive (16)
Started with the series and then moved to online and so far I have never gotten as much from any other game I have played and hope It continues for many more years!

Improved graphics would be a nice option for the Classic client. With the key word being *Improved*. The EC graphics, while a newer style, are not as good as the older CC graphics.

Keep the appearance of the Classic Client without all the garbage sitting on the game window and add functions that work via macro keys instead of bars and windows cluttering the monitor screen.

Make the EC pack windows show icons large enough to make out what they are.

Add in about 100% of Pinco's mods to the EC and not require us to go to other websites to seek what should be basic features of the client. Who knows whether or not those sites have been hacked, unknown to the site owner, and now download malware as well as what your after.

I own stuff that is as old as the hills, and is still going after newer 'improved' models have come, died, and been trashed. The same goes for software. I still run some WIN95 software because the newer versions with the added bells & whistles that are things few people even use, are just basically the same thing I already have with a new screen layout.

Calling the EC the 'Enhanced' client has proven to be just a PR sales trick. The UI software hardly rates the word. Exasperating Client would be more appropiate for the letters EC when refering to the new client.

Sad, but true.

....You do realize that like every single thing you can use a hotbar for you can just create a macro in the macros window and never drag it onto your screen, yes?

It will be 14 years for me come January. Lots of changes and evolution to the game over that time, and more than a few devs that I miss being at the wheel, but I'm glad for the work they did and what they brought to the game, so thanks to Pandemonium, Wilki, Draconi, Firedog, Cat Hat, GrimmOmen, Sakkarah, Supreem, Leurocian, and a BUNCH of others.

I'm glad to see that the first step of the art update will be in the next Publish, but I SINCERELY hope that they're not going to revert back to the Legacy terrain textures even if they do them "high resolution" because there's simply not enough detail in the older terrain to raise to a higher resolution and get a good outcome. So I'm eager to see what the results will be, but I do have my reservations about it.

As much as "h@rdc0r3 2ders" don't want to move forward graphically, I don't want the game to move BACKWARDS. They did it once with the 3d client (with reason) already with the terrain and have already taken the EC too far (IMO) backwards in terms of the graphics already. So I'm hoping for an improvement on the current EC terrain (although it seems to be the highest resolution textures LEFT in the client already).

I will never play anything else, but I do like the sheep in 2D even though Grimm said they were a mistake.

Enhanced Graphics...depends on what they mean by *enhanced* as long as it keeps the 2D feel I'm happy.

I do not like the washed out, bad watercolor painting look of the EC, though some things do look better in the EC then they do in the CC.

Cu Sidhes look better in the EC, Solens look better in the CC (IMO)

So while I am a 100% CC user, I'm open to change, as long as it's not TOO much

[Mushy Happy Feelings] When you were turning one I had just turned Fourteen a few days earlier, my loving and unsuspecting parents bought you as a gift for my Birthday...something they later regretted when they got the Credit Card Bill with the monthly charge....ten times.... My desktop computer is 11 years old with a Pentium 4 processor, 3 gigs of Ram, and an AGP Radeon 4600 series video card and it runs the EC such that characters, other than a flying gargoyle, move as quickly as with the CC, even in Luna. The only quirk is that a flying gargoyle will tend to fly three tiles, go upright a half second, and then fly three & repeat, quite often.

I see no reason to upgrade to a new computer as this one still does everything I want it do, and until it stops doing all I want it to do, why build a new one?

That's not necessarily true. My suggestion is to add a toggle in the classic client to allow players to choose whether they want to see the UO:R version of Fel terrain or perhaps a corrected version that doesn't use twigs that block movement (ie. replace with stumps/rocks/etc.). Wouldn't this be a simple way to improve the user experience?

Ender my PC is a top of the range pc of less than 2 years old. Cost me a bloody fortune but I play UO in the 2D client. When they sort out EC I will reconsider moving over but I can't see that happening.

Actually, I know exactly what they're going to do. First they'll make a new facet for 2D which is high-rez only. They'll call it "New Trammel." Then they'll call Trammel "Flannel," to describe the grungy nature of the since outdated low-rez graphics. Anyone refusing to make the switch will be deemed a "Flanny," creating the first Trammie/Trammie rift in the history of UO.

Nobody is asking for them to be replaced. They can be sharpened up whilst still maintaining the same 'look'. Sample artwork done by users of this forum has proven this.

What would be a good idea is to allow the EC to have a 'classic' mode where it mimics the CC feel and look. Then the CC could be scrapped altogether leaving just one client and a choice of two graphic modes and two running themes (EC and CC).

Main reason I dont use the EC currently is (though lazyness) I dont want to have to learn everything again. Saying that I should really give it a try again.

And get this right UO has been around for 14 years not because of the graphics but because of how great it is to log in with your friends and play with any style you all feel fits. You see all you need to do to make this game great again is advertise, and do it right. They will come.... I mean REALLY people are playing games like farmville and other facebook games for heaven sakes they are not after graphics, Obviously. They are however after some thing that brings them all together sociably and lets get back to the basics.... within a SANDBOX!!!!!!


Get together on a creating a great marketing plan save some money on design and bring the players back!!!!!!! lets all move on to birthday 15,16,25 and so on!

I'm betting that the terrain update (not going to call it an upgrade until I see it) will affect all terrain at once, not just mountain or snowy areas. Also sounds like it will be with the Halloween stuff, thus... fall... thus... nah, now I'm really hoping for too much regardless of what's lurking in the UOP files.

I was hoping we'd get a hint of it in the files, but you're probably right, it'll probably be all at once in one patch. If all of the anniversary, vet rewards, and Halloween stuff was in the pub we currently have, pub 73 will probably mostly be the graphics.
