Server population - highest to lowest

I am interested in seeing a ranking of server populations (specifically North American servers) from high to low. There probably isn't a scientific way to do this and it may be somewhat subjective, but I am sure a lot of people have a pretty good idea about which servers are more populated than others. Since I have been out of the loop for quite some time, can anyone help with such a list? I already know the first and last shards, but I'm not so sure about the ones in between.

According to a long-deleted Draconi post, Mugen is under SP, with SP being technically the second to least populated shard. (Both, however, have a close variant on the same rules set.)

If there's any way to tell without having someone from the game tell us what the others are in rank order? Then I am unaware of it. I'd guess GL's under Atlantic by order of magnitude, and others after that.

But that is only a guess.

EC will give you a rough guide to server populations at the time you log in, it only grades them in very broad bands but may be a baseline to work from. Remember though, it varies hugely with changing timezones!

Any answers you get here from players are probably going to be very subjective, Sargon. If you're trying to pick a new shard to play on, you're probably better off doing some research by reading shard forums here and in other places, EM websites, and then just spending some time training characters on the shards that have some sort of appeal based on your research or what other players have told you. At the very least, you will then end up with somewhat developed characters on a couple of shards who can roam around to a lot of places on those shards, meet players in person, and make first-hand observations of how events run, what shopping is like, which guilds dominate the shard, etc. You'll end up in a far better position to find what you're looking for rather than having to rely strictly on what other people tell you.

All answers would be more "guesstimates". Of course you would get some that will play favorites to their own shards but we all know ATL is the largest populated. I just dont play it.

Well again, my answer was from Draconi. The post was deleted, but that does not mean it didn't happen.

In context it was not number of characters, it was number of players.

I do know, however, that there is a long tradition amont us of disbelieving information from official )or in this case formerly official) and knowledgeable sources sources.

My post was in general. I wasn't directing my post to you or anyone. Just an opinion.

Really dont care where or whom the information comes from. It's the actual visual and activity you see on the shards that tells the story.

Lower populated shards can actually look busier if there are more active players that play that shard versus larger shards that may actually have larger popultations but not active players.

Siege's population is low, very low. Lately we have seen more and more people due to the cross shard trading of pigment and gift tickets.

But overall I think Siege most likely broke even with all the lost people due to the account migration.

I have gone on these (asian/jap/wierd named) shards and communication is almost impossible. In a group of 6 people at the bank I finally got one person to explain to me in broken english that no one understands the words popping above my head. ABSOLUTELY no offence here but even on the shard forums communication is frusterating.

Maybe its just the times I log on as well but it seems even Siege's population is higher than the names of shards I cannot pronounce.

Well.. Going off what I've seen during prime times. Oceania is a barren waste land

As a player who plays many shards, I can give you a best guess list. My list is based on guilds, PvP action, current housing and housing availability, how many people play both prime time and off time.

Of course, it's just an aproximate. There's no real way to tell unless EA actually gives you statistics for each shards population for say, Saturday night at 9:00pm for each respective shard's time zone.

Anyway, here is my list of North American shards (plus Oceania for those wondering) with number 1 being the most populated, to number 14 being dead low.

1) Atlantic (high population)
2) Great Lakes (medium-high population)
3) Lake Superior (medium population)
4) Chesapeake (medium population)
5) Catskills (medium population)
6) Pacific (medium population)
7) Baja (medium-low population)
8) Napa Valley (low population)
9) Sonoma (very low population)
10) Legends (very low population)
11) Lake Austin (very low population)
12) Origin (very low population)
13) Oceania (extremely low population)
14) Seige (dead low population)

It's not really accurate to base things on one night and time. You would have to graph out numbers from at least a month of activity, if not 3-4 months to get a much better idea and it would have to be based on characters logged into the shard at all hours of the day, not characters created on a shard. And that wouldn't even take into account people who multibox.
