manikins...... i didnt even think of this!

love the manikins.
been begging for them in game for years and years and years.
so love that they are in game.

but tonight i was putting up some of them for displaying some of my suits and i realized that there is a real nice advantage too them.

i was on my beggar.
he has 3 suits.
a begging suit (blessed pants, shirt and hat with a nice blessed lantern)
a pvp suit (for faction stealing and such, all 70 suit with DCI and pvp stuff)
a LRC/LMC suit (for tram based stealing in the dungeons)

so i was testing out the 'swap clothes' button on the manikins and i realized that these are gonna be awesome for fast switching of suits.

now, i realize that for people using the EC this is a one button instant thing already, but for us old timers who still use 2D this is great!
i can have a manikin set up with each suit, just walk up, hit the suit i want and BLAMO im dressed and ready to go dancing!

will work nice for my archers too.
PVP suit
PVM suit
LMC/MR suit ect ect ect

Yeah thats really handy. Another thing I noticed today too is that Blacksmith/Tailor etc can repair clothes/armor on their own body. So next time you're on a char who needs his suit repaired, dont put all your armor in a bag and log in on your crafter. Instead use the Mannequin to grab damaged suit, then hop on your crafter and trade clothes with the manaquin and repair it all. Then just switch back. Pretty nice

Something else about the mannequins,is that if you have them in your house and turn that house from public to private,they will get kicked out of the house and put under the house sign. Just like players that are not friended to the house.

Me either, but NOW I will have a changing room in my house!!! This is great, I mean how often have I wanted to literally switch out a dexxer suit to another char to train with, or to use for a specific spawn. This rocks!

yup!

all ya do is put up your manakins, then dress yourself in your suit, say your LRC suit.
then you single click the manakin, hit the switch clothes thing, BLAMO, everything except for your talisman moves over instantlly.

then put on your dex suit, walk up to your next manakin, same thing, hit switch suits, BLAMO its now on the manakin.

k, so say your now rolling around in your orc skin suit.... why.... cause your a roll player (hehe) and you want to put on your LRC suit, ya walk up and hit switch suits, it will slap your LRC suit on ya and take off your orc skin suit in one click and your out the door in 2 seconds flat!

i have a dex/HCI suit that i keep laying around to train melee skills with, think ill chuck that onto a manakin as well, that way i can keep tabs on it and insta dress it as well.

No, They work like soulstones. Only the same account characters can use them. Other characters from otker accounts can only open the paperdoll and look at them.

Just to bad they haven't figured out how to do the UOAssist auto dress. Allows characters to auto dress from nearby containers in your house. This allowed characters that could share choice pieces with hotkey. Allows for multiple characters to share that jackles collar or orny. Just undressed into the container relog on next character and hit auto dress.

I have found that the Assist Auto-Dress is just too unpredictable and while I use it sometimes (like after I get killed) this sounds a bit more solid, plus it will put away neat.

I was kind of worried about mannequins at first because they don't take lockdowns and I really don't know how much they were tested (ie I didn't want to lose irreplaceable suit items). But they're basically temporary account-bound house storage items. You can also use them as deco. You can also use them to swap suits from char to char. I was thinking I might even use them just to wear nice mod barbed GM pieces, you know, like pieces with 16 energy resist and the like before imbuing. Lot of possibilities. Or recreate Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Maybe even that cave dance in the third Matrix.

Now THAT's what I have been waiting to hear. Had not tried them to see if the items on them counted towards storage or not. That just freed up about another 150 locks lol

I just blessed a complete sorcer's suit plus the jewelry and nocturn earrings. Can anyone steal clothing off a mannequin. I wonder ..

I am waiting to see someone's house being filled for a joke. A co-owner can place say 20 mannequins in your house and then you can't do anything with them. Then owner of the house cannot interact with them. I guess the best you could do is switch the house from public to private so they go outside, but then you have a stack of them on your steps under the sign. LOL

This will make life much easier keeping track of what's what. Instead of piles of clothes in bank boxes I can just have the suits on display ready to go.

Now if they only showed total resists and other modifiers when hovered over with your mouse. That would be nice.

I have 20 set up on one floor of my house and am setting them up like terracotta warriors only wish I could get them to display weapons :-(

I m afraid to use mine. During clean-up, I m reorganizing and changed from publick to private. My first mannequin was lost forever because it popped out of the house the first time I went public to private. I was very thankful that she was not dressed but sad she is gone.
