Should be easy, just a bit of CSS. Change "color: #EFC229;" to "color: #0FC229;" and you get green links or whatever contrasting color you need.

As far as Wordpress - would have been better to wait for Drupal 7 for an easier migration from D6 and better administration. But looks like the modernization started months before Drupal 7 was ready. I agree though, faster and better looking overall.

Seriously, volunteered?
Petra, someone is making money off this site. If anyone is, it should be you, for all you do.
I can see volunteering under some circumstances, but Stratics isn't a non-profit, right?
I'm pretty sure it is a labor of love for you, Petra (or an addiction =p), but you deserve plenty.
Thanks to all who freely give their time to make Stratics such a great UO resource.
Now, will someone volunteer to put the world clock back or tell me where to find it?

why 'P'? I don't know tbh, but the test site that Watchertoo set up for me off Stratics so that I could learn 'what the heck is this wordpress George wants us to use?' had the same thing, so I guess it's part of wordpress. Personally, I think it should stand for 'Petra'

Drupal - The folk who went before us bastardised Drupal to the point where it just couldn't be updated

It's been a long, sometimes frustrating, but mostly fun journey. I know precious little about .css or .php, but I still managed to have some influence on the finished product.

World clock - it was never very good because I kept forgetting to update it spring and summer. Try Xena Dragon's utility instead, it's much better. http://uo2.stratics.com/tools-and-downloads/xenas-uo-utilities/uo-time-tool

Getting input early will help us enhance the site and make things easier on everyone.

With that said, Petra had a lot of help not just because we all pretty much adore her but also because we have been on board for over a year now with making things easier for readers and for staff to share their content with readers. I didn't dare announce it till it happened in case Murphy struck As it is I went and broke the darn thing last night, but luckily managed to fix it again.

Constructive: I would focus on expanding the playguide pages, drawing upon the huge amount of information and knowledge on the forums. We still have gaps of knowledge which must be filled for people looking for useful information.

For example, Chivalry went through some changes this last patch. The skill page for this skill has very little in the way of important material in it. You need to add things which come out each patch. Where's the information gathered by players about the amount healed at what skill and karma level? Where is the information talking about Chivalry as a primary skill, thus effecting the new SDI calculation? This kind of thing is so much more important than changing how the text is laid out.

Please please please focus on creating a more permanent repository for important technical information in the game. This issue has been brought up before and all you say is "well volunteer" - You say you have a great crew, put them to some use actually building the CONTENT of this site. For the most part people are already gathering the information, you just need to make sure it gets where it needs to go.

I only say this because Stratics really is the front page of UO, nobody can deny that. And some people feel very passionately about the game and desire for the front page to be the wonderful wealth of knowledge and information that it deserves to be. This game is full of people interacting on interesting and neat levels, they tear down systems finding out the pickiest details about how certain things work, and none of their work is represented here. Please!!!!!! fix this


Unconstructive criticism: It looks like it was designed in 1998. It looks like its supposed to mimic a text design document.

If it's WP, there's a link you can type in (generally /wp-login.php) to take you to the log in page for just this situation. When I first started using wordpress for my own site and got rid of the login box because I didn't like the look of it, I quickly went "errr... uh oh, how do I log in?!" =P

May I ask a few questions? How do you all determine what games you all list on the other stratics sites? Do you have to ask the game company for permission or do you all just do it by your choice?

It is not just UO Stratics that we are focusing on. Other portals have been been getting some much needed TLC like LoTRO and EVE while other newer portals like Rift have been welcomed.

As Director of Content, Syrus is always looking for talent from those who enjoy their own MMO and would like to contribute. We base our decisions on what we can support and lends towards a community.

As a fansite we have the opportunity to reach out to all titles and offer ourselves in support. Some titles support us back with interviews and content news. Our goal is to expand this to offer contests and prizes in the future.

Heh I was a little impatient and did some searching and found this thread http://vboards.stratics.com/stratic...986-you-reading-stratics-com.html#post2016925 and asked Syrus a question already.

TBH the reason I asked since our guild has now grown ( we also merged with another large guild after we left RIFT) to 3400 + ( this is actual players not characters) finding good solid information on not so "solid" fan sites sometimes is a nightmare.

I wasn't sure if stratics was limited to certain games by permission from the companies themselves. Wasnt for the LoTR stratics being mentioned I would of never searched or noticed the MMO general forum lol.

One suggestion bring back the different colors for age of news on the main/news pages as it made it easy to see new stuff.

I do hate to say it but why in the hell is the site still in two pieces - the nice black banner at the top which the forum also uses looks great but it also looks so out of place when the rest of the page has retained its old color scheme. Please consider making both sections the same.

Easier said than done, but I'll try to find out whether that's possible. Meantime entries are dated. Granted that the initial dates are misleading because we copied some articles over rather than start with a blank sheet, but that will change as new news is added.
