UOforums currently unavailable :(

I was asked to relay this message from the Admins there.

Due to some very nasty Hardware malfunction, Software corruption & miss information on how to fix said problems UOforums is currently down

The Admins there are currently switching to a new Host & Servers to clear up the issues and hopfully stop this type of thing happening again.

as of right now, I can't guarantee an ETA of when the site will be up because we are restoring and because I'm wanting to make sure it's stable once things are up and running it may be a bit longer before it comes up. Right now the site takes everyone to a downtime page.

Our new servers are up and they are working on importing the most current versions of backups that work. We're still waiting for that and testing to see if the most recent works or if we have to use an older one. Thanks for understanding.

It's a way i wouldn't normally choose to spend the weekend, but a price you pay when you help run sites, as I have known for years with the sites I've helped out with over the past 10

How old is the most current backup?

Most current backup is from just before the server went down. However, we aren't positive if it is corrupted or not. The last known good update is from Sept. 4. I'm hoping the most recent one isn't corrupted, but I can't tell till everything gets imported and we test it.

We (UO players) talk a lot about UO coming up on it's 14th year and all that goes with those years. But other than the occasional comments about when a fan site is down, how often do we actively help, promote and thank those fan sites just for being there? We don't.

It takes a lot of dedication, money, time, and work not only to run a fan site... but to keep it up and going for year after year. UO Stratics, UO Forums, UOGuide, WRRAD, and many others have been doing what they do for many years now... many as long as UO has been around.

As a community of players, thanks your favorites fan sites in any way you can. The UO Team... you too owe the fan sites something, your ongoing communication, support & time would be a good start.

Couldn't agree more!!

Lets hope that Every thing can get fixed ASAP and we can start showing that we support UOF 100% by making up any posts or anything they might of lost from dodgy backups

Message from the Admin

UOForums Is back up and running! and appears to be working!

the back up is from early 8th of September so only about a 24 hours worth of loss (give or take)

If you still cannot see Uoforums please follow these instructions:

start a command prompt as administrator and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" without the "", then press CTRL-F5 on the page


Lets all say Three cheers to the Staff at UOforums for working their butts off and turning this major issue around in just a short few days and over a weekend too!!

Sheer fluke, I logged in there a couple of minutes ago to see the message that they think it's recovered, forums restored (looks to me to be a backup for about midnight on 7th September) and the chat seems to be working...
