CLEANUP Best bang for the buck turn ins ?

Alright, it seems that we are getting CleanUp back, good.

Aside from the rare items, whether old or new that can be turned in for most points, of the items regularly spawning, which do you think are the ones that are the best option to be used as turn ins for CleanUp points ?

That is, those that give the most points as in regards to whatever time is needed in the game to get them. That is, those "most efficient" in farming for points good for the CleanUp.

For example, I saw Messages in a Bottle grant 100 points. These items, while spawning regularly, do not spawn that frequently and so, 100 points sound to me not too much for the time it takes to get them. That is, I would see them as not much an efficient turn in item for points.

NOTE : I do not mean scriptable items. I just mean items obtainable through regular gameplay WITHOUT scripting.

I'm guessing some crafted item will net you more points than the ingots were worth. Valorite ingots are 9 a piece, so that's a pretty good source. I'm guessing that a night worth of strip mining would end up netting you a lot of points.

I'm sort of tired of discussions about scripting. Everything, in theory can be scripted, as long as the author writes enough If and Thens. EA shouldn't build Clean Up Brit around scripters, they should make it so all of us hoarders have a reason to get rid of 150 piles of snow or 150 books of truth or 150 reindeer or 150 blue crystals or 150 snow globes. Then we play the meta game in which we try to buy holiday gifts off vendors for cheap before the scripters do ;D.

But seriously, there's going to be two kinds of people in this Clean Up, the ones who have blue crystals stockpiled and the ones who don't. My plan is to just drag my trash can around my house until I'm fed, haha.

Frarc has the best bet.

Also talismans (from heartwood quests), power crystals and clockwork assemblies (that's how I got my rewards last time after the free reward points from questing) are all 250 points. For the effort taken to get those, that's not bad. It's still over 20 hours of game play for the highest end rewards (or was last time), but no scripting is required!

My guess is that unless they disable it, it will be possible to craft/imbue items to get the best results.

The quickest (unless you're poor) is to just throw money at the problem.

Probably virtue/10'th annivers artefacts if you farm them in Fel at low level champ spawns.
As for MiBs: Dont forget that each item recovered from a shipwreck gives 250 pts, too. So trashing the MiB directly shouldnt be an option. (With 20k gp on average and a chest we are already at 450pts + additional pre chest loot.)

Who cares. They are just releasing the old items. The new stuff will then just be released again next year. Does anyone really use this stuff beyond collecting.

Again, I will say it. About 7 to 10 days after the turn in starts. You will be able to buy this stuff from vendors.

Here is a tip. Spend time killing Slimes in Ter Mur. Sell the essences on your shard for 350k per 10. Do this for 10 days, you will have 15 to 30 million to buy your turn in items.

How about working on random exploration and adventure.

GEEZ. Whose the new guy being hired. This game has turned into collect points and get gifts.

Am I the only one that thinks this is silly?

The one thing I use from the last one is the bee hive, for the honey.

Killing slimes is Boooooooooooring. I rather do all kinda stuff to get the points.

I don't want to spend gold on overpriced items if i can get them myself. :)

And there should be no uber rare items only for the superrich.

And working hours just for gold is not fun. I rather spend my time better then that. :)

All the items i got from the previous year i use. But i did not get everything. Now i get a chance to get other items too. And people who missed the previous clean-up will get a chance too again.

I hear ya. But what I proprose, though boring, its less expensive and time consuming.

Im not saying dont toss in your junk too. I have fun going vendor to vendor and finding stuff.

But in the end what are you really getting. Id rather wander east and find adventure.

To me that is fun.

Congratulations on your splendid post, sir. I never get tired of hearing you make this hoplessly vague statement everytime anything whatsoever is added to the game. The post ages ago where you explained what you meant by "random adventure" and it was some horrible nonsense that everyone hated, about spawning monsters whenever X number of players gathered, wasn't ironic at all.

Yes everyone hated because we really matter.

Hmm. Let me help you. You go to a dungeon and when you go through it. You find things that werent there yesterday and the day before and the day before.

You explore places and find new things and new adventure. Hope that helps.

That's the great thing about the sandbox style of UO. There is something for each playstyle. We get spring cleaning with rewards for cleaning out numerous houses, and you get dungeon level champs (Or did you miss R-Traveler's Spoiler's Thread?).

Ditto for me, Petra. Siege is probably my last stop in the game, so getting the armour sets and the luck jewelry set is pretty pointless because I'd never use them there. The only rewards from the last round that I'd like to get on Siege are the beehive, the horse barding, the yucca tree, maybe the archery butte, and if they actually were functional again, the Sherry the Mouse Statue. That's it. Haven't ever come up with a house design where I'd use the virtue tiles. So, unless they include some new decorative/useful items that can stay locked down in your house, I'll be finished with the cleanup pretty quickly, which is probably good because I don't have much to spare for turning in anyway. Have a couple hundred small pieces of blackrock I'd like to get rid of, but that's about it.

There is new stuff. Stealing looks interesting. We are a static sandbox though. Think about it. Things don't change. You just can do different things. We rarely leave marks besides housing or when an event goes and ends.

The day I can wander the dungeons and find new sandbox footprints of monsters... we can agree UO is a sandbox.

And to be honest spending a lot of effort to spawn a champ that has lots of hit points to get a prize, isnt fun to me. We know how to spawn it, what it gives, how to kill it, and the odds of getting an item. Thats just a fancy turn in box to me. We turn in our time on the champ and get a reward.

The honesty arch of returning items is very close to some random adventuring. As long as the items aren't static spawning it is a good start.

Heh! popps ... it's "cleanup" ... not another "community collection"

Cleanup by/through tossing >old on hand stuffs< ... NOT
farm retrive and place "new" stuffs in a place for "new"/different items.

My place and characters on both accounts ...
Already neat clean and organized to my current satisfaction
no further "cleaning" required.

There is one nice new "addition" to the game
trash barrels will (for awhile, perhaps long term)
Have the added ability to "appraise" the trash one more time
for a "point value", which may or may-not allow said item to remain "in game"
... depends on whether I would (at that point) care to "convert" the point value
by placing said item in a "garage sale" mode ... on a vendor for sale to the genPop
which is just another sub-game in the larger game.(and another topic/aspect of its own)
If not, I'll still get the points from discarding it ...
which is over and above any points I would have gotten before the system came in
I was just cleaning up, after all,
and the trash barrel was "quicker" than normal "Decay in place" (dropped on ground)

Now it is "just" as quick to acquire a storage 1 count ...
by assessing an items "value", to me, FOR the one count it takes to keep it ...
IF I'd rather (after considered evaluation) have the slot or the item ... and I choose the slot
OVER the item ... I can (as before) drop to the ground, or drop to the barrel ...
and have the one slot available ...

NOW, being aware of the current cleanup system mechanics
I MAY acquire points from using the barrel, whether I intend (or ever care to ) use Those points ever

since they don't (currently) deduct from my storage counts ... I have come out ahead ...
a "win" ... an "investment" in the accounts potential future value ...

Hopefully the points >won't< decay as the community collection types >seem to<
but thats a different topic for a different day.

That is, those that give the most points as in regards to whatever time is needed in the game to get them. That is, those "most efficient" in farming for points good for the CleanUp.
Ergo: there is NO ONE "most efficient" method of generating/acquiring TRASH items to convert for "good points" for a non-community collection type system ...
ESPECIALLY for any one that doesn't "value" any reward as being "worth while" re: effort.

No longer true with this event.

Decorative items are almost worth no points:

Decorative steal items:
Arty level 1 5 points
Arty level 2 15 points
Arty level 3 25 points
Arty level 4 50 points
Arty level 5 100 points
Arty level 6 200 points
Arty level 7 350 points
Arty level 8 750 points
Arty level 9 ??

Equipable items
Crown or Arcane 5000
Light of the Void 2500
Staff of Resonance 2500
Valkyries Gliev 2500
Mystics Guard 2500

Since the equipables are apparently evaluated on stats, I suspect fishing will get better points per hour.
the kelp leggins, bow and female armore will get between 2500 and 5000 points each and drop fairly often.

Oh yeah thanks three years old. I forgot about that. Sarcasm in the title and that was for something specific.

Thanks for digging it up. Ill have to put that on my pile of looks like dyes and pixel crack got the work versus other suggestions.

But I take it you get my point that when you walk into a dungeon youd like to see more then the same lizards.... right? Thats random adventure and exploration.

Yes, I copied my prod thief over to TC1 and ran the dungeon rounds a few times (Doom, Fan Dancer, Abyss, Mines), then had the items appraised by a trash barrel.

I appraised about 30 items in all.

Did anyone try to turn in any of the Books from Fish Monger Quests ?

Are they a valid turn in and how many points do they give ?

It seems there is 6 books total but the rarity of their drop varies. I wonder, if they are a valid turn in, whether this different rarity is taken into account for their points.......

Leggings, bow and armour are not rated as artefacts. From others testing it, you get 500 pts for each of them (along with wedding dress and large fishing net). If you hoard enough MiBs now, you might get a decent pts/hour rating lifting them. But if you count the time needed to collect/fish up the mibs into ....

The OP made a good point...

The sos bottle is only 100 points...but
Fish that puppy up! the Shipwreck items you fish up bring in 100 pts each... all those bones, barrelstaves, paintings , pillows, shoes and body junk is points!! Speaking of the treasure from a mib, the valkyrie top ,dress and all that extra goodies are worth 500 points, so not a bad haul for all that extras we have floating around. Seen a few on vendors for cheap!

Holloween pumpkins! how many of us have bags of them.. and the snowmen that are extra...
NOW I dont mean for you to go empty your homes of your functional gifts.. Thats not the point of the clean up. This is for the EXTRA junk you have sitting around.
Like 9th annivasary coins...
I can see keeping a few but when you got like 30 of the puppys the turn in is the way to go...
Dont cut yourself short on your gift items the list is vast and many on it are huntable if you are new or returning and have tossed out all your extra things.
I have also seen on vendors as of yesterday bags of point giving items up forsale, some were costly but sitting down at the calculator I found they were well under the gold turn in costs for points, so they were not so expencive as tossing gold in.

Just remember this is to clean up the extra items we cant use. Dont go hog wild in the spur of the moment and toss your whole house in the bin. If it has a use its not extra junk.
Think before you toss.
