Am I missing something? Why would anyone want a set of the Virtue or Evil Epiphany armor except for having a somewhat rare set? Is there any use for this stuff other than as a collector's item? If not, did the devs think otherwise?

wear a good karma piece and get hit by a spell, you get mana burst back to ya.
Put on 5 pieces on a character with lvl 5 karma (good set so go over 10k karma) With 5 pieces and high end karma you will often get about 20 mana gifted to you when hit by a spell. even with one or two pieces you get about 4 mana per piece when high karma. They are exceptional so are 500 weight and easy to fit into a suit. Its not the easiest suit pieces to fit but they have uses.

Sadly they are not even somewhat rare now. Niporailem the Thief in Tomb of the Kings drops them about as often as death robes at an EM Event.
I've never seen anyone wear a single piece into combat. They threw something similar onto Charybdis as loot too, apparently.

I did some testing last night to see if these would be of any use.
Turns out they can be imbued. Which is quite nice if you want to add a piece or two to a suit. I was able to get my gargoyle to all 70s with 2 pieces added to his current suit.
Imbuing weight on them is 500 max with 5 properties max. It starts with 0 properties and weight. Basically meaning its a blank slate.
Could be interesting. Im gonna see how many pieces I can add to a suit and still maintain all 70s resists.

I believe the blank slate only is in regards to the gargoyle necklace and earrings. All other pieces have Mage Armor which takes up a slot.
Hmm hadnt noticed it lol only looted garg jewelry pieces so far.
Ill have to do some more hunting and further testing to see how useful these items can be.
I've been trying hard to fit ONE part of Epiphany armor, but really it's pointless:
1) Part has a base resist of 5/3/2/3/2, which is the same base as a crafted one, but you don't get the 20 free random resists from except/armslore. Hidden cost: 133 imbuing weight lost.
2) Part is already made a special material, so cannot be enhanced. Normally people would use for example Valorite, which adds 13 resists. Hidden cost: 87 imbuing weight lost.
3) Part has Mage Armor. Hidden cost: 140 imbuing weight lost.
TOTAL: 360 Imbuing weight lost to gain the Mana Burst property. And that's only on 1 piece. That simply is crazy.
Had they not put the Mage Armor property, MAYBE it could have been used on some non-medit non-stealth chars even if the cost would still have been very high at 220 imbuing weight. But at 360 just forget it...
I can't see to watch the trashcans getting filled with them for points...

Yeah, I did not find it obvious that was how the pieces worked by looking at them.
