the whole purpose of the mag house "auction" was to take some gold out of uo right? so why not take an idea from the forbidden free shards *gasps in horror at the mention* they have some really great slot games, lucky lady , miner madness and a few more. the codes are already wrote for them. it would give us bank sitters something to do, take gold out of uo, and bring people back into the towns....how can u go wrong?

Probably some ESRB rating thing. I wish I was kidding, but some companies bend over backwards for that thing.

they already had to take out certain things just to keep it under an M rating. I don't think we'll see any type of gambling anytime soon, but I personally wish we had Poker tables... maybe in a "western expansion"?

I was always under the impression that the majority of the UO player base was well over 25. Thats just an assumption but if its the case, who cares about the M rating?

I don't understand this mentality. There's a whole game out there with tons of stuff to do. Despite what some people may say, nobody out there has done it all. I don't think that's possible. Why don't you just go out and experience the game if you're looking for something to do?

This is your problem, if your bored go do something and
quit cluttering up the banks.

This is the reason I don't bank at Luna.......

EA. EA Stockholders. Oh and retailers, which is probably what EA and other companies care most about. Target, Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, etc. aren't too fond of the M-rating and supposedly card people trying to buy those games.

While UO is not on the shelves and is not a good example, EA generally tries to keep their games T and below. Look at the Battlefield series, EA tries to keep it rated T even though Activision has had some M-rated Call of Duty games and it hasn't hurt their sales. There is just something of a stigma associated with M-rated games in EA's eyes and they try to avoid it when possible. It'll be interesting to see what Kingdom of Amalur is rated when it comes out, given that Salvatore and McFarlane are behind it.

Right. Being under M does matter for games that are actually on shelves... Matters very little for UO.

Ratings to me that are low make the game worse off. I don't know how it is for everyone else but when I pick up a game, if it says 5 years and up, i'm thinking the game is for 5 year olds.

It's the same thing with a T rating. I'm thinking the game is designed for 13 year olds. I'm not 13. I think the game should be mature and allow 13 year olds to play but not consider 13 year olds to be the prime player.

The problem I have with slots is, that, they were not around in mideval times but alot of the games were and i'm sure if they did it right they could sneak in slot machines, just make it very UO fitting.

But I think they really need to get this stuff straightened out if it's a problem because there shouldn't be anything holding back UO.

Like I said in the other gambling thread, in thinking about it, if EA added casinos or serious gambling games, the moment the RMTers got involved, EA would **** their pants since EA would get blamed. Richard Garriott recently spoke about how EA went from officially approving/not caring about RMT to being against it because if they are seen encouraging or supporting it in some way, somebody might try to hold them accountable.

T does allow for simulated gambling, but given that UO is an international game of sorts and that it's online and multi-player, that does comply with certain laws/regulations in other countries (hence the end of decapitations and dismemberment), it's a road they wouldn't want to go down since online gambling of any sort maybe barred elsewhere. In the US I think it's got to be tied to actual money, which the gambling in Second Life was technically tied to it - you could in fact convert in-game winnings to real life currency through Second Life's publisher. The RMTers in UO would probably flock to in-game gambling and casinos in UO.

humm didnt know saying bank sitters would ruffle so many peoples feathers lol....and no i havent experienced everything there is to do in uo, but ive done damn near most of it, and allot of it i just dont care for. you can only do a peerless and get the same things x amount of times before u get bored, same with bods, sinking pirate ships and most other things in game, the only thing i havent done allot of is fishing and if i wanted to be fishing id much rather grab a catfish pole and just head out my front door lol. all that holds my intrest on uo any more is house falls, which is just another form of gambling only u gamble with ur time instead of gold pieces. i just dont see a problem with the slots, gold needs to come out of game well there is a solution. also someone mentioned they didnt have slots in the time period of uo, well just to be honest they didnt have neon hair dye either lol i just think it would be something in uo to do for situations when ur sitting around chatting with friends, or when theres nothing else that you wanna do. they wouldnt even have to pay out gold, they could pay out like resources, on a mining game. or like u could have a rares slot, where a deco item was jackpot...there are allot of ideas you could explore with this.

It cracks me up about how people can be so snobbish and arrogant. If someone wants to bank sit, let them. They aren't hurting anyone and their account fees are helping keep the game alive. It doesn't make them look bad when you complain about them. It only makes you look bad. By the way, I'm not referring to you tiggertessa, but the ones with the ruffled feathers.

Thanks Sable, i kinda got a giggle out of that. i do bank sit sometimes, i castle sit most of the time lol. only reason i even log on uo anymore is to chat with my friends, heck ive known them a dozen years now, most are more like family. so for all those people who think bank sitting is this horrible thing, and that your not doing anything but taking up space....i usually am doing something, chatting with friends and ignoring everyone else lol
