Cal Mythic - Billing choas and illegal unauthorized credit card billings

This new billing chaos system is getting tiresome.

I had no billing info on my accounts when this billing migration fiasco started.

I finally got guided through the mess by another poster here on Stratics and got an EA.com account set up. I added my three accounts to it, one of which I rarely use unless I want it to hold a house temporarily.

I was suprised to find that the billing info was on the accounts, it had been removed using the old system. I authorized six month charges on my two main accounts, one of which happened. The other main account wasn't billed and is currently under an apparent 14 day extension.

The third account, which had had no billing info on it with the old system, now, on the new fiasco, is showing a credit card billing intent. I do believe that unauthorized credit card charges are considered a crime.

Since I imagine that EA will ban all my accounts if I contact my credit card company over an illegal charge, how do I go about stopping the crime before it actually happens?

This is out of hand. Something needs to be done fast. Just about everyone I know and speak to, are having some sort of problem..

This whole move was a horrible idea. It isn't worth the headache to be honest.

Eighth call to EA on this new billing fiasco, can't even remove credit card info without a <quote> "screen name you use when playing any of your Ultima Online accounts". Thank God my credit card expires real soon. Looks to be the only way free from the new billing system. The Origon & 'other games' choices on the phone have no one who seems to know what the heck is going on any more than we do.

Only I cannot enter them right now and I now have inactive accounts :(

I "cancelled" one of my accounts under the new billing system. When it came up yesterday, it tried to bill it (and I cancelled it days before it was supposed to charge).

This is definitely not a good thing and makes me very unhappy with EA.

LOL my second account went inactive for not having billing info last night, and you can kiss my ass if you think im gunna put my info in there and get charged up when most people aren't needing to pay ****.

I kind of wondered, because it seemed like the major problems people were still having involved codes from there.

I bought my upgrade from eastore.com and have the same issues as everyone. I'd imagine once this all gets sorted out, all codes will work, no matter where you got it from.

Just when you think things cant get any worse. Sadly this is because someone has been phoning it in for the last 9 months.

I have yet to do anything with the new billing system, I happened to have been lucky enough to reactivate my accounts before this crap started. If it's not fixed by the time my accounts run out I will just wait. Sounds like it's a total mess.

You may need to rethink this. I have had my account and my son's account set as auto rebill {subscription} since we started playing. A few days after the great "migration" my sons acct went inactive. I knew the funds were available so started looking on the new account crap. For some reason they had defaulted to non auto payment. I had to link them together and reselect auto renew subscription. Just don't want folks to be suprised.

EVERYONE here has had some form of trouble from this from getting set up, to accounts going down to people being ip banned because we were left alone to try to figure it out.


You all know good and well we won't be compensated in terms of money spent, gameplay lost or time wasted on this new CRAP.


This is my petition to bring back the old WORKING 14yo account management system.

Billing chaos, tell me about it. Well since they needed us to enter all our CC info on this new migration is where my problem has started. I guess whoever programmed this migration was not smart enough to include CC info to migrate over as well :thumbdown:. Well, since I have had to redo all my CC info I am now paid up for the next YEAR on some acct's. It looks like re-entering all my CC info into their lovely automated system has renewed many of my Acct's AGAIN for 6 mos when they were just billed for 6 mos a month ago! Nice play EA, one way to gain a little capitol $$ & with NO INTEREST. Now how many others have had this happened to & don't know it yet! Way I found out is I switched/entered in my other CC# to one I have for my business by mistake. I have to date received 2 calls from my CC people on fraudulent like activity on my card, the 1st call was last week, for two $1.00 Charges applied, the day when I entered all my information & linked accts. I figured it was like always, they check to make sure the CC is valid. But today's call I was on my cell phone w/crappy cell reception for some 6 mos charges being applied, (cell cut out so I did not hear it all). Figuring it might be because on Sunday I received the, "your acct payment info has not been entered" :rant2: so this acct will be ending on 8/21. So not wanting to take any chances I went in & entered the CC info again. (Guess a mistake) Because today's call was for charges being applied. Unfortunately I was not at my Ofc to check my last CC statement to see when this acct was paid to, since most all come due within a 2 mos period. So after looking, guess what, yr's UO time paid on at least one acct & possibly more. Since not wanting to go back in & risk being charged again I will sort this out with my next CC statement. But after looking the other day after receiving the 1st call from my CC Co & seeing at least one Acct being paid til 8/2012, I kind of think I know what I am going to see on numerous acct's. :cursing:
I will say, if I have 6 accounts paid up for the next year, EA will be doing some reimbursing of CC charges applied.

Ok peeps, here's another fubar by EA billing migration.... All you guy's & gal's with multi acct's better check & make sure you haven't been dbl billed, Especially if they came due just before this migration process...... like I said, nice easy added cash flow created by a "mistake" cough cough :eyes:

This is pretty weird I have to say..

Ended up with three linked accounts and one seperate account because I can't change the email on the seperate one.

Account one gets billed every three months no change there at all.. account is active.
Account two gets billed monthly and it's due to be paid.. but account is still active.
Account three gets billed monthly and it's due to be paid.. account is blocked.

Account 1A gets billed monthly and is due to be paid.. Account is up and active.


All four accounts are on the same CC..

Not too worried I guess it'll all straighten itself out..

But.. I have owned a few businesses in my life and I have always made it as easy as possible for people to pay me.. Making it hard for people to pay you is just plain silly business strategy.

There is NO unlink button as the little snot nosed associate at Origin said there would be and getting my accounts back on is getting to be a hastle way beyond stressful.

You cant see any billing info from the other billing system soooo how the bloody hell if I didnt have my list and dated it would the common player know if you BLOODY WELL CANT LINK IT!!!!

Sorry didnt mean to blow up at others but this is beyond having patience for this. I am NOT a test rat in some cage for EA to test the SWor billing on!! Andthats what this is and we are the rats my friends. No warning..no consideration of advanced info on the system or its limits ... not even a heads up of how to work it. Tossed in our laps to do their Q&A... ok im geting angry.
Sorry for the rant..

If I was in charge I'd be sending a guy to your house in a limo, with a laptop, to set you up.

And it keeps getting better... Now my kids are having problems cause the billing info and CC number match MY accounts..

Can't seem to get the guy on the phone to understand they are not MY accounts I just pay for them.. on hold now as I get kicked up the ladder..

Sheesh who CARES who is paying for it.. it's getting paid isn't it?

It's a slow moving train wreck. Everyone at Mythic right now are probably wishing they had just stuck with the old system... and most of them would glady revert to it, except that they would have to admit they were wrong with this.

Except that it wasn't Mythic's choice, this is all EA and their lust to try and recreate Steam and Ubisoft's services through Origin.com.

Although this probably didn't help Mythic's case if they had wanted to stay out of the Origin.com account migration stuff:

Just to check everything was ok, I had a look at the billing info for the 2 accounts I still use. I'd previously removed all my billing info because one account wasn't going to be used for a while, and the other had been a gift from my partner using his card.

I started trying to re-activate a closed account and yup, there is the option to use a credit card which would be my fella's card, the one that shouldn't be there. It has the last couple of digits of his card so I think it's safe to presume the card info has been resurrected lol. I'm not going to click that button just in case it bills him again, but I really want to get his card details out of there. They were removed a while ago so they shouldn't have carried over at all *mutters*

I'll try poking around a bit later, but I can't find a way to get into the billing details page to edit, let alone delete what it shouldn't have stored. In the meantime we'll watch our bank accounts and cross fingers heh. We're in a much better position than other players by the sounds of things :(

I use the names interchangeably. EA owns Mythic, therefore Mythic is EA.

This is something that is very troubling. If you REMOVE your information from a companies database, it should be REMOVED. Completely wiped clean. Not pulled off the front end only... in this age of identity theft and with the surging need for online privacy, it's ridiculous that something like this can happen.

After seeing so many double billing posts here I called my CC and had them set it up so that all charges will be sent to my cell phone for authorization before being credited..

I would suggest everyone take some measures to avoid getting your card Ganked.

One person even ended up with overdraft fees! Possible loss of credit rating..

So finished up with EA on the phone about my kids accounts...

Don't want them all linked in case one of them does something stupid and gets banned.
They are all teenage boys after all..

Turns out I'll need to get each one of them a CC to pay their accounts..

What a load of crock..

P.S. The bank is more than willing to help me out.. 7 secured cards at 35 dollars a pop.
I'm starting to smell fish here.. and it's not cause I'm fishing.

Get a prepaid credit card at Walgreens. A lot cheaper that way. Or buy them game time codes and apply it to their account.

Those pre-paid cards are only like ten bucks apiece..

we use a pre-paid mastercard for all online purchases, including UO. Keeps our bank details off line and safe.

The email will direct you to reset your password.. I reset mine to exactly what it was, but you can change it if you want here.

Then it will work right..

to a "credit rating entity" (there are three main ones to my recollection)

and the "credit rating entity" Might Lower their score?

oh wait ... that IS what "credit rating entities" DO ...
receive reports from banks and tally total current subjects standing as: Credit worth.

I was able to make my Master Bioware Mythic Account and link my UO accounts with it fine sometime last week..

Today I go to the account management page, log into my Bioware Mythic account but can't get to my UO accounts. I get the page asking if I "Have a Mythic Master Account?" but get an error EVERY time I try to log in with my Master Account name and password. If I choose "forgot password" I get "Request Account Password Change". When I put in my "Mythic Master Account" name I get this message: "The Master Account is already associated with an EA account. Please login with your EA account"

I feel like I have gone round in circles for an hour now! What am I doing wrong???

And you are right Fayled, even if that person immediately resolves the issue it's still gonna show as an "overdraft"..

I think it's a shame people are having to go through this just to "play".

My accounts went down.. they gave me free 14 days of game time to hold me over until the site was up. It was up yesterday so I linked me accounts and activated them with my credit card.

Saw this thread so checked my bank and everything seems to be working as intended, no double charges for me.

Is everyone sure they aren't seeing just the pre-auth and the actual charge? Often times banks will keep the pre-auth on there longer than necessary.

I will now only pay for UO with gametime cards bought and used one at a time. That way there will be no ongoing subscription game fees automatically charged to my credit card. The current one shackled to my UO game accounts expires this fall and I will not update the new info to EA for the accounts.

The closest EA will get to my credit card info in the future will be multiple *single* purchases. Any *extra* charges *mistakenly* placed to my credit card will be reported to the card issuer as unauthorized charges.

My Bull tolerance has hit it's limit.

Actually, for me its 4.95 a month.
And the billing thing hasn't been a problem for me yet, mostly because every month I decided which and how many accounts I want to run, put that much money on the card, activate em, and forget it till next time...they can't overbill what isn't there :thumbup:

Don't know what I'll do when its time to re-up tho, unless it's a bit different then. Cause the one time I went over there and looked to see what I needed to do, it was all a big cluster...I backed out quietly and closed the door behind me :eyes:

Same for me here, i changed my billing to 6 month from 1 month and now one month is billed again, Mythic what you are doing? I said it for 1 week if the account center would be offline all the time, nobody can say anything, but this really bad little school project of an account website is a joke!

We are all now the proud owners of Netspend pre-paid Visa cards..

Accounts are all up and running..

Just seems silly we had to do it this way...

But it is good they can't overbill any of us now.. only loading the card every three months to pay the accounts.

And these cards are much safer cause they have no bank info on them.

Many states and perhaps some Canadian provinces charge tax on goods over the internet. In essence UO is "goods". Used to be the seller needed a point-of-presence in the receiving venue but no more.

The taxes were implemented long ago. Like Trammel and other stuff to make people yell, it ain't going away. I recommend if you are NOT on 6-month cycle, do it as the tax bite may be somewhat less.

Some of you are complaining about info that was removed, or added (such as GTC) just prior to the migration, and was not that state afterward.

Ever think that, just like publishes, that they have to BACK UP the entire database at some point, and that your changes (be it removing billing info, or applying a GTC) might have occurred AFTER your part of the database had been backed up?

Databases are notoriously foul beasts when it comes to backing their data up, then accessing that same data via another program - or in many cases the IDENTICAL program installed on another machine.

A saying common among those that work on databases for a living is that one of the derivatives of Murphy's Law is that "No Database survives migration intact" no matter how much care is put into the move. Pointers get lost, or reset to default position. File names get treated as different, even though they are identical, and you have to go in and RENAME the file via retyping to get it to match up (I've had this one happen to me), etc.

Which reminds me of another quip I've heard, that I'll leave with...

"And on the 8th day, Satan created dBASE, and that's when everything went to hell."

I have a quick question.. when you click the cancel on a sub does it cut it off like that moment? I don't want my cc being stored on their damn site ... I used to pull the billing info every month as many others do on here... but I'm afraid if I do that it will cut my acct off and I'll loose time I paid.. another worry I have is if I let it run out after pulling billing.. will I be able to reactivate if I want to..seems like people were having a problem with this too... would be nice if SOMEONE from EA would speak up about this bs already... we are all paying customers and we have really been left in the dark on this... :cursing:

well nifty looks like all my damn accts have no cancel button now where as before I did.. good job ea..guess i gotta call and yell now.

Ever think that, just like publishes, that they have to BACK UP the entire database at some point, and that your changes (be it removing billing info, or applying a GTC) might have occurred AFTER your part of the database had been backed up?

Databases are notoriously foul beasts when it comes to backing their data up, then accessing that same data via another program - or in many cases the IDENTICAL program installed on another machine.

A saying common among those that work on databases for a living is that one of the derivatives of Murphy's Law is that "No Database survives migration intact" no matter how much care is put into the move. Pointers get lost, or reset to default position. File names get treated as different, even though they are identical, and you have to go in and RENAME the file via retyping to get it to match up (I've had this one happen to me), etc.

Which reminds me of another quip I've heard, that I'll leave with...

"And on the 8th day, Satan created dBASE, and that's when everything went to hell."

Would you approve the hire of ANYONE that had anything to do with THIS migration?
