What gives with keeps and talking

In my keep, if I am in the center room on the first floor, I cannot see someone talking in one of the outside corner rooms.

Today at Ginsu's keep, he's doing just that... talking to me from outside the center room with the words popping above his head like there's no walls between us.

Is this a recent change that im unaware of or is my house bugged? His house bugged?
