yup - whether ya like it or not you may now have neighbors that plunk a plot and do nothing more. Note - I said "may".
I only hope they have done it on purpose to reset every single house timer [maybe]...including all the bugged ones that have stood forever...then when they close back up every account ever made... the 90 day timer will start on all the unused accounts....and hopefully they will all become unbugged and decay as normal.

It's not ALL accounts...I tried to log in to my secondary acct and it won't let me....so maybe it's just closed accts that have houses on them?? I don't know..I was hoping to be able to log into my secondary acct because I forgot what chars I had on it and I'd love to find out!
Nope, Larisa friend just was able to open up & log onto his & it's been off for almost a yr +. No house no nothing. His other account, someone hacked it AFTER he had shut it off & deleted all seven toons. He knew it was after it was Shut off because he tried to log into it the day after it was to run out & he couldn't.....

Well now I'm upset! LOL
Why can't I log onto mine??? i know I have 2 houses that I placed during a WBtB event that are STILL there so the hope that these will be fixed is HUGE...I placed a tiny one with the date of placement on the house sign just to see how long it would stayt..they REALLY need to fix that!
But I would love to be able to log onto my secondary acct..I know I ran my player run towns auction from that account, my auction house was on it so I'm dying to find out what I have on there...but not willing to pay the $12.99 just yet as I just spend money to upgrade to SA that I can't use yet!!

There is no news.
Someone obviously tried logging on to an inactive account for lord knows what reason :/ and found that they could log on to it.
I'm assuming that since they put all accounts on *hold*, payments and everything..that they just turned off the payment system? I'd really like to know what happened...but now it seems that everyone can log onto accounts that are inactive, just like a Welcome Back to Brit promo.

no idea what the problem is your side..i know half dozen people that haev just logged into long long closed accounts and looked trough there chars for old stuff etc and some have placed houses for at least 90 days storage...and the fun have having another house for a short time for free i guess...also one as placed housing on other shard so u can play 2 shards or three etc all with housig for a short time....
its great gift by EA ...cant understand why they didnt tell us about it though.
and they could easy stop the housing by closing the house server so they must be fine with it.......

due to the new data base relocation etc etc u can log into any closed account for free......no news really...its not new..been like it for 2-3 days maybe more

I was able to do it for my trial account I set up earlier this year, and had never paid on.
Larisa, when you stopped playing on that account, did you just let the paid time on it run out or did you "close" the account before the paid time was used up? Or could someone else have played on the account after you thought it was suspended and ended up getting the account into some kind of trouble?
If you actually "closed" the acount before the time ran out, I wonder if that could have set a different kind of "inactive" flag on the account than an account where the game time simply ran out.

just checked a older account of mine, holding a house since welcome back and it opened up fine!!
expect it will fall now lol!! my guess is they will reset house server after this to catch the ones having houses open for a few years without paying!

Surely if all accounts have become live then when they close again the 90 day timer MUST bcome active on every single house in uo...if they aint used..like many castles/keeps on every shard ...they really should drop after 90 days

I think I just let the time run out on that account and never renewed it?
It's been so long I don't remember...and since Acct. management is down I can't even check to see if there IS billiing info on it...if there is, it's an old credit card that's been LONG since shut off.
I HAD a list of all 21 accts I have....with usernames and passwords and dates of creation..trying to find it. I used them to hold buildings for our town....and I know one of them has the 18x18 in Tram by brit crossroads on Origin that's STILL there.
IF I can find the list before the 11th I'll see if I can log into any of my other accts..if not then I'll have to watch the house in 90 days for any signs of decay.
I do remember when I was still playing they snuck in things like this without telling anyone so noone had the opportunity to find a work-around.

Is September the month they do the Welcome back to Brit promo? Maybe EA is setting the 90 day timer now so all houses will fall 30 days after the welcome back program ends. Just a thought.
If anyone from Atlantic, or other shard even, would like to play Siege during this time I'd love to join you. I have some gold there, no house or items. Was thinking it would be a lot of fun to go with other prodo players, and it sounds as if there are plenty of vendors there for everything needed. PM me if anyone is interested. I don't PVP, just think it would be fun to start from the bottom up again.

I brought it up last Return to Brit and they didn't fix it. Just because we can log in all the accounts doesn't mean they are live and will start the timer in 90 days, it could just be like Return to Brit. HOPEFULLY they will fix it and the housing server will get the enema it's needed for a decade. With their track record on fixing housing I'm not holding my breath and will see it when I believe it.
In the meanwhile after years of Return to Brit and now this it's getting pretty hard to upgrade houses with people placing free ones that never decay everywhere in many cases just to block other people.
I wouldn't mind if they made it free to play but charged you rent for housing based on the size of your house. Then if you want to play from your bank box it's no charge but if you have a house you still pay per month average same fee unless you have a castle or huge house them more or a small house then less.
I've logged into about a dozen accounts, some of which have been closed for upwards of 5 years.

1. you didnt activate the account on a payment plan once your initial 30 day trial.
2. the game time -which doesnt apply to this.
3. The account was suspended, though if you say it was not on anytime pryor this too is not valid.
4. The account was banned, not saying you did anything but it is possible someone hacked your account without your knowlage and got it in deep doodoo.
Now here is the OR in this last one... you said you placed a house on this account during Back to Brit... someone might have turned it in to the Dev/Mesanna and the account was flagged an there fore in trouble due to error in timer.

What better way to encourage old players to try UO again!!! Free time to come back and get hooked in the game and friends. It is a great idea, just wish they would have told the whole world of old UO players so we could get alot more back in game. Was on Sonoma with son, doing spredsheet mantence on characters and friending to homes. Son had one account that on that shard all characters but 1 still had "young" after their name...
I was plesantly surprised how many wanted to help him thinking he was new. I prased them all in chat and in person for their kind offers and willingness to help a "young" player.
We all need to look at this as a good thing, ICQ,IM, Facebook,Twitter, anyway you can!! your friends who quit .... invite them back to try, its free... if they played once they might get back into the game... you got to admit we could sure use the players.

And I know I paid for that account for almost the same amount of time as my main account because I ran auctions on that account. I ran it off the same CC as my main acct...and I NEVER gave the info for that acct to anyone.
Once acct. management is back up im going to do some digging :/
Also didn't they say WAY back in the day when we asked about all the illegal houses that the server the housing was on was really old and outdated and they were afraid to mess with it too much?
I have 2 runebooks full of houses owned by Tyrant on Origin that are still there. I know of people that ligitly have 10 houses...I JUST found out of one, 11 houses all made to look like 1..it's pretty cool..but not many people do that.
Still it would be nice to have the unpaid for ones go away :/

If UO were to go f2p - I'd be back tonight. I love UO - it was my first MMORPG. There are things and especially people I miss (shout out to Spogfrawn), but right now I'm enjoying f2p lotro. Will I ever come back even if UO never goes f2p? Maybe. It was the screenshots of KR that got me interested in coming back last time. I wish EA would pour the time and resources into this grand old game it deserves...

I also play a f2p game called Jade Dynasty. I love it. When I left UO I played a game called Twelve Sky, then Twelve Sky 2, which were both decent, but all the while looking for a game that came even CLOSE to the depth of UO, and there just isn't anything out there.
Sure some games have SOME of the aspects that make UO what it is, but nothing will ever ever EVER come close to being as immursive (Spelling fail) as UO.
Paying $12.99 a month for this? TOTALLY worth it, and I'm glad I am able to play again.
Bringing new players here? Not easy...what with all the amazing 3D graphics and games out there, but graphics is just PART of what makes a game enjoyable. The *younger* generation is so different, and UO doesn't meet their criteria in many aspects, most people watch YouTube videos of a game before they decide to play..and if I were a teenager looking for a game to play, and watched a video of UO, I wouldn't play...putting myself in that mindset...having watched videos of the 3D games that are out there and then this one..no I wouldn't play...graphically it's seriously lacking in terms of what's *on par* right now.
It's like growing up with Sesame Street...and then watching it now....I don't like the new Sesame Street cus it's not what I grew up with...but that doesn't mean it's not good or even better.
Transformers...I grew up watching the cartoon (yeah im a nerd) and I had my Optimus Prime super cool toy...when they came out with the movie I was hesitant to watch it, and I was blown away.
Kids nowadays NEED that intense mind-blowing in your face graphics that they are used to seeing on a daily basis. So getting new players here is gonna be a challenge, but one that I am confident can be overcome.
Getting the word out..getting the name out...the 14 day free trial is awesome, let people KNOW about it...the new player guide? WAY outdated...it still says on there you can choose between 2D and 3D.
Put boxes out for the anniversaries, get some exposure...start doing the townhall meetings again, bring it to the people...UO will prevail, it just wont' be easy, but then again, nothing ever is

it is the "delayed gratification" types ... which can learn and grow and remain as vets IN CHARACTER in Role Play ... Think on it ...

I think the townhall meetups....the Harry Potter referance made me giggle BUT I didn't see any fellow Sosarians dressed as their charactor at the Chicago meetup I went to..thankfully

BUT...say they had a chance to SEE someone play...to SEE how..totally emersive the game actually is...wouldn't that help? Bring new players to the game I mean...1 out of 3 ate the marshmellow...we need to target the one's that didn't!
