[Necromancy] Necro/tamer

So I was looking to alter my tamer to be able to possibly solo/duo some champs or peerless and I was thinking something like...

105 ss (jewelry to 120)
100 Necro
100 tame (jewelry to 115)
110 lore
115 mage

At that point I was going to try to keep my hiding and stealth since I play siege, and I'm just used to it, but I don't see how I could skip vet and med and be able to keep my dragon alive vs a boss.

so maybe adding?

100 vet
90 med

Simple plan I guess, get in to wraith form, lure to dragon, invis and wither spam. I feel like vet might not be useful a lot of the times because of bosses withering, etc. Is there something better?

Does this template work for soloing spawns or peerless? Can the dragon take out bosses with my help? I've never really tried any bosses. I did grizzle solo once with just my dragon, and it was all going swell till I ran out of bandages.

Thoughts?

One thing that ya might look into is dropping the necro for mystic. Instead of luring spawn to the dragon send him in the thick then from a distance hail storm. The main difference being HS is effected by slayer books where wither is not.

I thought about it, but I cant afford a scroll if one can even be found, and also the slayer books would be a pain to find.

I tried a necro/tamer for a while, along the exact templete you have there. It worked great for advancing the spawn but for me was a little lax when it came to the Champ. Eventually I stoned the necro/ss and added sw/eval. While Earthquake, Meteor Storm and Essence of Wind aint NOWHERE near wither for advancing the spawn, WOD and Gift of Life more than make up the difference to me.

When it came to Peerless, the necro/tamer was ok but if you happened to goof and die you were through. Gift of Life gives you the ability to goof {which we all do lol} and still have a chance of finishing off the Peerless.

Either way both temps are fun to play around with.

If you setup a macro "target nearest enemy - all kill [current target]" with a greater dragon you can kill the spawn nearly at the same speed as with area spells.

It is also funny because with many ranged targets you'll see the gd performing all of its "specials" but i found that not many nowadays appreaciates these kind of things.

I don't fully agree, I feel that Essence of wind with 4/6 casting and a level 6 focus is far better than wither. The damage dealt is only slightly less when compared to the fact that essence hits pretty much the whole screen and wither does not hit even half of that. I have a necro/sw for doing champ spawns and almost always rely on essence more than wither, plus the other SW spells are not so bad (I don't mean offensively just in general.)

Being on siege I have to rely on sub par gear, so necro just seemed the best best for me since wither is lowish on the mana side, as well as not needing to worry about slayer books.

I thought about spell weaving and mysticism but they spell weaving focus is super hard to get on siege, myst scrolls are spensive and rare like I said. I might try them sometime though.

Cloak: No offense taken ever here. I do agree with you some on essence. Just hard to shake old habits and wither spam at spawns is indeed an old habit lol.

I forgot you are on Siege. Would hate to see how hard it is for a focus there, hard enough most of the time on Atlantic - and it's a "busy" shard. That being said, personally I think the necro/tamer is better than a sw/tamer in that setting. Then again I have not taken to Fel side with the sw/tamer yet. Still working on getting good with the char tram side before having to worry about raids etc.

I'm pretty good at runnin' away most of the time. :p There was a group of spell weavers around like a year ago, but seems like the population is quite low atm.

i have both of these chars, they are useful in different ways.

my sw tamer i use with big large high hp monsters where you have to sit and heal for a long time (peerless and bosses with a team) and my necro tamer i use with smaller lighter mobs that you can just let the dragon loose to kill things on his own while stealthing around (champ spawns).
