This place seems pretty dead. I guess *the great time sink* claimed more people than I expected it actually would.

so, aside from the obvious exodus, what else has changed in the past 6 years?
I thought I heard some chatter about certain well known people being perma banned... but really I'm talking all aspects...

Who rules Fel now? What happened w/ ML? ...& SA? and whats this crap I hear about new boats? O.O

Also... I want to say hi to Lady Lava! XD a Bit amazed you're still around!

Greetings and a Hi to you 2.

It is always nice when we get a visit from an old boards poster.
Yes, 11 years later and Lady Lava is still around kicking and still loving her UO.

I can give you a little run down from "my point of view" as to the current life on Great Lakes.

It appears we have indeed lost population but that has not made the game less enjoyable.
There is new content and tons of new pixel crack. Many old timers enjoyed the seas but would bore of it because of not enough options. That has changed with High Seas and those old salty dogs are loving the new adventures. One of the oldest Great Lakes guilds FCB is still around and enjoying the new breeze on the sea.

On the subject of guilds many of the old guilds are gone but some are still active but with fewer members.
As you know BC ( Black Company ) left a few years back and the majority of them play WoW. Last summer I did get together with a few old BC members while on vacation in Michigan. They tried to get me hooked on WoW but I did not bite. The fact that we look down on the/our world in UO is a huge plus for me. Shooter games and games played on the horizon line give me head aches.

Felucca is a pale shade of what it once was but there is still action to be found there.
The two main Fel guilds are DC* ( Dragon Clan ) and CREW.
DC* would never be if BC had never left Great Lakes. They use large numbers rather than amazing skills ( BC used both ). There are many great people in DC* and even more not so great.
CREW is a smaller guild but the members seem to have more guts and willing to take more chances. They appear to really be having fun.

Some things that never change with the Fel set and that is the trash talk and everyone boasting they are better than someone else. Some things never change even after year after year. ;)
Of course there is the we raided your spawn and we got all the powerscrolls and not you, ha ha ha. At this point in the game unless you are a new player knowone needs powerscrolls so it seems rather silly. Now imo if one truly wanted to show their pvp skills it should be in tournaments one vs one, or even a group lets say of five vs. five.

At this writing I am in five different guilds so I see things from different perspectives which is rather amusing and fun. By no means am I a PvPer, though I go to Fel weekly. My six months as a PvPer on Baja years ago proved that I suck at it. I am a Tram girl thru and thru and I love killing my monsters.

The largest guild on Great Lakes has seesawed the past year and -Y- is the largest Tram guild and often the largest in general on this shard. Unlike most of the other larger guilds the guild master of this guild is extremely helpful and a truly nice person. Pretty much all the Tram guilds get a long and I must say I like them all.

As you noted there is very little PvP talk on this board unlike years past where this was a hotbed of drama. They have taken their drama and vitriol to another location. That does not mean one cannot find that if that is what turns one on. We have General Chat now where the entire shard can to talk to one another. It is a very helpful tool. It is also a place for people to slam one another. I rarely stay in this form of chat more than 30 minutes per day. It gets very active when one Fel based guild raids another and then the bragging, untruths and nastiness flys like the wind. Mainly untruths not only about in game events but also untrue personal attacks. Some things never change in the gaming world.

Of course there are new bosses and new monsters to kill since you left and there are new crafts and skills.
One of the best things that has happened and brought new breath are the EM Events and the EMs in general. Great Lakes has two of the most active and best imo.

It was nice of you to drop in on us.

Fondly, Lady Lava

p.s. There are still player run events like CFC and MOA.

That was a nice, informative, and lengthy response Lava. :)
I had forgotten that you were a roommate of one of my old guildmates at one time...
Yeah alot of BC did indeed go over to WoW.. though you may know that while over there things didn't go so well and many of us ended up going our seperate ways. You know that game wasn't meant for that kind of a guild.

There were still very many players that did not come join us in WoW - at least not during my time with the guild.. I'm curious how many of those people are still around - even if they're on a different server... though that may be unanswerable.

I for one am glad you didn't get sucked into WoW, after the tons of time that I put into that game, it really is just a time sink/grind fest and alot of WORK.
I have slain *nearly* every boss in that game from Lucifron to Sarufang... it's a bit sad I let it get that far. I really should have quit the game after they made it so you could no longer sheep/drown people (ahhh memories... lol)

It's a bit of a bummer you couldn't get into pvp much, it can at times be the most entertaining part of any game, so much so that it goes far beyond any end game content the developers have created in pve.
I still love my memories of the huge (and some of the very small) fights I've had in fel... or that I've witnessed.

I wasn't so surprised by the fact there wasn't much pvp talk, I know some of the language used and whatnot was cracked down on big time.

I saw the general chat... I think it's a kinda nice feature... doesn't seem many people use it though.

Oh about showing off skill in 1v1s or 5v5s... That may interest some people, but really the only trustworthy people I ever found to 1v1 with (in this game anyway) were people you really knew, anyone else and you were just asking for trouble. 5v5s makes me think of League of Legends... but that game isn't really about a straight up 5v5, if you know anything about it, you know there are other elements involved. 1v1's I can do... but I do it on my terms... and usually there is a bit of surprise involved no matter what the game is.

It's nice to see MOA still around, though I have only ever attended one MOA event to my knowledge.

Oh, by the way... I'm not just dropping in... I've come home! :)

Just a quick update in case you guys didn't know, CREW is mostly the surviving members of the guilds BC, TDR, and XV. Were still here and were still kickin =) The ones that wanted pvp and didn't want to jump with DC to farm for gold that is, or make the cult following to WoW which caused a rift in the ranks.

We have many other guys that had nothing to do with those guilds, but our veteran players and essentially beginnings of the guild were brought together from them.

DC* was a tram spawning guild that was essentially brought into fel by BC and they broke off, recruited everything that might not die to a rat mage, and did their own thing. At the time bc and tdr were small collections of active players, so it only made sense. Since then DC made itself into a "gold machine" for a large active guild farming pvm and scrolls, which turned into others joining them to share the wealth.

Were you in BC? Who were you?
