Is anything known about September's 14th Birthday for UO ?

I remember a few months back a Developer's post asking suggestions to players about new Veteran Rewards for this years UO 14th Birthday.

Since we are closing onto it, I was wondering whether anything is known about what is coming, if the new Vet Rewards will be released in time or whether there will be delays.

A Veteran Reward that I'd really like to see for 14th Year Veteran Account, is an "account search tool".

Such a tool would be claimable only by 14th Year old Accounts but it will be usable by all accounts.

I find it a perfect candidate for Veteran Rewards as it is a nice and handy thing to have but not necessary at all. That is, it would be a wanted item but not at all unbalancing.

A perfect candidate as a Veteran Reward.

Why ?

Because ALL players can still play the game (i.e. search for their items...) the way we have now, one by one and using better storage criteria.

This new 14th Year Vet reward "search tool" item would only made game play easier (allow to find any given item in all secures in the account's house, all characters' bank boxes and backpack contents as well as mounted blue beetles on the fly, sort of Like Game Masters can do...) but it would certainly not provide any incredible power in PvM or PvP versus those who do not have it.

Sure, it would be a highly wanted item (because handy and usefull) but certainly not overpowering nor unbalancing. A perfect candidate, IMHO, as a 14th Year Veteran Reward.

Highly desirable and yet, not unbalancing.

Also, by making it claimable only by 14th Year Accounts, this would prize accounts that have supported the game for 14 long years but still, by making it usable by any age account, it would be possible for any and all players to make use of it either through a 14th Year Veteran friend or from trading it from Veterans who claimed it.

Besides, as I said, players could still continue playing the game without having it, just search their items as we have done so far, perhaps maintaninng a better storage, itemized, so as to more easily and more fastly find what is needed.

So, it would be a handy item to have but not a must have item. Game could still be perfectly played without having it.

I like the idea as well. There have been many of times that I knew I had something and I knew it was in either chest a or chest b and could never find it until I logged into the EC and could see everything in the grid layout.

If they're going to code something like this, it should just be applied to the enhanced client. All containers should have a search box to easily find whatever the player desires. For example: Search: pouch, would filter all items out of view except those with pouch in its name or subtext.

That was my idea.

Sometimes, we use an artifact, a piece of jewellery on a character, then they dispose of it in their bank box or perhaps even in pack inside a blue beetle that they are riding.

Time goes on, we no longer need it, then something happens and we need that item again but where is it ?

There is 7 characters with 7 main packs, 7 bank boxes, a house full of secures, possibly even an X number of Blue beetles that some of the characters logged off while riding them...

The item could possibly be anywhere in them......

This search tool while not inbalancing or overpowering, could certainly come very handy. A perfect Veteran Reward.

Certainly, IMHO, much better reward than yet another eye candy ride............

Well, what you suggest applied to an individual container would certainly be welcomed as a regular addition to the Enhanced Client.

But the tool I am suggesting as a Veteran Reward, rather than working at the individual container level, it would work a bit like the tool that I assume Game Masters have, to find any possible item in the property of an account.

That is, a tool that when the account is logged and if fired up by any character in that account, it would look into the entire database of items pertaining to that account regardless of where the searched for item might be. That is, on all 7 characters and their bank boxes or riden blue beetles and all of the containers locked down in the House listed as property for that account and even a Hold of a boat owned by any character of that account.

That is, it would be a search all tool. Need that Hat of the Magi but forgot where it it ?

Fire up the search tool and it will tell precisely where to go to to retrieve it.........

Well, if you are referring to the search tool I mentioned it several months ago, when we were asked for suggestions for Vet Rewards........ Just refreshing the idea since many months have gone by in the meantime........

Well, Veteran Rewards go by the game's age which is linked to the birthday which comes every year on September......At least that is how I see it......

The GAME see's it this way



Your account age updates according to how many days your account has been active. It is on a 30-day timer which means that your account ages one month at the start of a new 30-day cycle. This cycle is not in synch with your billing date or any day of the calendar month. It is calculated based on how many days the account is active. Characters that show different ages at the start of the same account's "birthday" may update throughout the month based on the individual character's last login time and date. The characters should be updated within seven days of their first login after the accounts "birthday".
The reason for this is that the server caches an individual character's age and only checks for new information every seven days. This is necessary because of the sheer amount of characters that have been (and will continue to be) created in Ultima Online.
The important part to remember is that your account age is not tied to when the account was opened, but to how much active time has been paid to the account. An example follows:

• You purchase a 90-day subscription, but cancel on the 25th day. You are only credited for the 25 days the account was active. If you re-activate and the account has been active for 6 days, it will then be a total of 31 days old and it will roll over and age one month.

Any account created before November 30, 1999 will automatically be credited for all of the time from the date it was created until November 30, 1999. In other words, if you created your account on October 30, 1998, your account would be credited for 13 months of time, regardless of whether your account was inactive during part of that time.
Following November 30, 1999, only the months in which you had an ACTIVE account will contribute to the total count of months qualifying you for rewards.
The amount of rewards an account gets goes like this.

• When an Ultima Online account has been active for a total of 12 months you may pick a total of three choices from the 1st year rewards list.
• When the account has been active for 24 months you receive an additional choice. This choice or any remaining from a previous year may be chosen from the 2nd year rewards list.
• When the account has been active for 36 months you receive an additional choice. This choice or any remaining from a previous year may be chosen from the 3rd year rewards list.
• When the account has been active for 48 months you receive an additional choice. This choice or any remaining from a previous year may be chosen from the 4th year rewards list.
• When the account has been active for 60 months you receive an additional choice. This choice or any remaining from a previous year may be chosen from the 5th year rewards list.
• When an account has been active for 72 months you will receive two vet reward choices (instead of the normal one choice per year), and another two for each additional 12 months which the account remains active.

Your reward choices may be selected from any of the existing vet rewards lists found in this knowledge base. If you want you can check your account age by logging one of your character into the game and doing the following:

1. Double-click your profile scroll.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the scroll window.
3. A horizontal bar will be at the bottom of the profile text. Your account age in months will be displayed under that line.

Reward eligibility is determined on a per-account basis. Multiple accounts may not be "combined" to increase eligibility. It is normal and intended for your account age to show up to 2 months older than it really is. This is a bonus added to all players just for playing Ultima Online! If you feel that your account age is incorrect we encourage you to use the E-mail Us option available here in the knowledge base, Gamemasters do not have access to this information in game but our email support staff will be more then happy to help you verify your account age if you believe there is a large discrepancy error in your account age.

If they keep adding new Rewards by the 4's it would reasonable to ask for an extra choice or two, for 10+ Yr Accts.. Yet if what's on the menu at the moment is going to stay for at least 1-2 years with an occassional new Reward appearing, I'd not agree.
