When there are enough of them they will start training for windmill installation just off the coast of Magincia.

My guess is that it is the devs' acknowledgement of the U.S. economy in-game.

I can't decide if this is neat or depressing.

Does add something, though. These NPCs aren't quite "beggars" in the traditional UO sense. They're just people who had something to do and had a livelihood yesterday.

And now do not.

Of course this may not really be the cause; just my supposition.

Ran across one yesterday by WBB so I stopped to see what it would do, and there is no way to speak to them. I was wondering if they would be escort quest givers requesting passage to another town for a job but didn't have any money to pay.

Spotted on Siege:

Ayda The Unemployed and Hans the Unemployed- Yellow human NPCs, lingering near the west Britain bank and rather oddly dressed . Noticed that both have red hair and are wearing reading glasses.

Isaiah The Unemployed and Cora The Unemployed - Lingering near the Magincia bank. Clones of Ayda and Hans.

Betra The Unemployed and Flurlem The Unemployed - Lingering near the Ter Mur jeweler's shop. Yellow gargoyle NPCs dressed in blue platemail armor and wearing "gargish glasses."

Because of the reading glasses on all of the NPCs and because they apparently don't have any purpose at the moment, I'm going to hazard a guess these NPCs are for the spring cleaning event. Last event also had NPCs scattered all over the place.

I didn't spend much time checking other shards. However, I did notice on Origin that there are yellow elven NPCs with similar titles (i.e., "The Unemployed") lingering near the New Haven bank. If these NPCs are for the turn-in event, I wonder where the elven NPCs were placed on Siege? I didn't spot any on a quick dash through Oclllo or at the Yew bank (and also checked Bucs Den just for grins). Would be nice if the ones in Ter Mur were located a little closer to the bank to make it easier to quickly stuff unblessed items in the bank, if the NPCs are indeed going to collect and hand out rewards.

Since they are all lingering around banks and jewelry shops, they are probably casing them for a future robbery.

That would be the only way they could get away; robbing the bank would by definition aggro-flag you, so no recall or gate. And good luck stealthing with all the guards running around auto-revealing you.

You would have to get away via wagon, cart, mount, or foot, until you un-flagged.

The distance from the West Brit Bank to the Brit Moongate should about cover it.

Lets make this interesting. How about this :

Fel only ¨Champ spawn ¨ or something

- 8 People needed ( no more no less )

Items needed

- 1 keg of black powder ( 25 in a keg ) crafted by alchemists
- 1 short fuse ( alchemist )
- 1 lighted match
- 8 shadow crow bars ( recipe from quest crafted by tinker )

Monsters

- 30 guards ( 3 spawns of 10 , each group 2x harder than the preceeding one ) , Only vulnerable to physical damage .

- 1 Captain of the Guard

Loot

So they way it would work is, The party leader would go into the bank, Drop the powder keg in front of the safe door and yell : thou art being robbed!¨ or ¨this be a robbery¨, at which point the keg would be lighted up and explode 5 secs after, spawning the first wave of guards

Once the 3 waves would be done the captain would appear as the ¨champ¨but with no loot.

To get your cut, eveyone would have to get in the safe, and use their crow bar on 1 of 20 crates.

Once opened a crate would turn red and wouldnt be able to be opened by another person.

the loot could be something like

- gold checks ( 10 to 150k )
- Power scrolls ( random )
- forged Pardons
- uncommon to rare items ( decos , artys )

You would suffer huge karma loss and wouldnt be able to use any bank for 2 real days ( participating char only )

:gun:

:p
