Our request on the dredging hook has been granted, the new one is red. I've updated the fishing quest page to show it. The order I delivered to get one was a very small one, 2 lines only

Thats possible but its much to early to confirm or deny that. But the new fishing stuff give more reasons to keep fishing.

Eh, true, I just wished I was not looted my entire stock of deep sea fish and be able to try out the new changes in fish monger quests....... I knew I was going to have much less time to play and so I anticipated my scarcity of playing time by building up my stock for future times. Did not help me out much it seems....
Unfortunately, I am stuck with hardly any time to fish them back up and no stock saved up to try out the new rewards.... I guess I will read on Stratics about what is new.
I just got a Dredging Hook off of a 1 line:
10 Yellowfin Tuna Dredging Hook
How do hooks work though, do they break upon use or what? Is it a one-time hook? (one charge)
Hmm nm read other thread on Test says 50 charges hm but the hook doesnt say 50 outright...

I pulled a 120 scroll yesterday on my fifth order. Was a 6 line, 100 point order.

I like the new changes but the hooks should have more charges. On Siege the charges should last as long as the rod lasts and on all other shards they should add a toogle which allows to remove the hook (toss away) and apply a different one.
Once the hype is over all the dev time will be wasted because barely anyone will do the quests. I can only speak for myself but i know that once i have my 120 scroll i will never ever again do a stupid quests which involves crabbing ...

It was said, that hooks stack. So it should be possible to have more than one on your pole.
I dont play on Siege, but hooks should have the ability to fill up the charges/uses of your fishing pole to the number of uses of your hook. It doesnt sound fair, if you apply a hook and loose it, only becourse your fishing pole has run out of uses. (But maybe Siege players are more smarter than those of the other shards and be aware of this smaller problem.)
The new sea monster might need at least someone to do those quests for the special bait. Not to mention the usefullness/strength of the new mysterious weapons from lava fishing.

This was brought up, and solved, while the publish was on Test. If the fishing pole you want to attach the hook to has less charges than the hook, it won't allow you to attach it.

One worrying thing about the Dredging Hook ... it only seems to pull Gargoyle items? I got 6 items from my first hook and every one was for a Gargoyle alas. Also the lava hook doesn't work in all lava; I tried the lava pool by the Ancient Wyrm in Destard and although you could place traps there, the Fish do not bite still.
I think the dredging hook is mostly for the decorative stuff. I got a gargoyle shield and a repeating crossbow from the only one I've used. Neither item was of particular interest.
I've not tried the Destard lava, but you can use lava poles/hooks in Fire.

is it just smelly bait or is there other kinds? what do you do with the bait?
Not entirely sure yet. I got some 'extra smelly bait' earlier today. You use it exactly the same as the normal bait, double click, target pole - or in the case of the extra smelly stone crab bait I got, target lobster trap. With a tub of 22 baits I caught 2 stone crabs
I got told, that the smelly baits have a higher success chance than the normal ones. But I dont have exact numbers.

It's a lot to ask of any cabin boy that his pole lasts for 500 uses. I suggest you let him have his footwear at least, irrespective of increasing Hook technology...those are good poles you're getting, mine don't have anywhere near 500 uses

I just got an 'Extra Smelly Giant Koi Bait'. Now I have three different types of giant koi bait: the normal one, the smelly one and the extra smelly one. Luckily those smelly baits are not rewarded very often or they would eat up lockdowns really fast.

Is this bait supposed to get used up in one cast? Each time I add a bait to my pole, the pole goes back to normal after one cast...even with a 2000 charge bait.
yes, I'm afraid so, it has to be re-applied for each cast. It is possible to make a macro though, in either EC or UOA.
Well, if that is the case...I don't think things work as directed. I tested out the baits I had set aside (10), all in their respective locations...each bait 1000+ on each. At 120 fishing, 30% of what was caught were shoes...70% reg fish.

I don't remember what it was from. I just looked at the op's post and thought something was different about one of the new baits I had received. I haven't tried it out. I fish gravewater lake for freshwater quest stock just for the off chance of a zombie or holy mackerel. So I have 1200 holy mackerel steaks as it is.
