Thats what you got from a lava rock?
No the weapon was pulled up with the fishing rod like you pull up shoes or lava rocks or stone pavers.
There was a message : You pulled out an item:Mysterious weapon
New Hook.
The hook and old Lava fishing poles work the same. (tested that on TC)
The only difference is that the old Lava fishing poles last longer then the new hooks.
After the hook charges are gone the fishing poles return back to how it was.
Ok I will be the one to ask what is a searing weapon?
Oohhhh maybe a new line of critters like berserkers. Take extra damage from new unique weapons that can be customized. Not they'd think along those lines.
And lava hooks!

Who knows what else is hidden in the lava!
Other than for the Searing Weapon Modifier which is unclear what it does, it looks like an ordinary axe to me. A "Brittle" ordinary axe.......

These changes actually made me start to fish again due to excitement. Then I remembered I had to do lobster traps, and, oh...the pain, lol.
But nice find.
I wish traps would guarantee two per, post 100 skill, and not drop out so easy. Sigh. At least people sell them on my shard.

Whats your fishing skill at? IM pretty sure a lava pole isn't usable at GM? You need 107 or something?
I have 115 Fishing.
But i just went to TC. Set my fishing skill to GM and used a lava fishing pole and i pulled up things out of the lava.

I'm at 93 skill and use lava poles just fine.
Got a bunch of geode's, shards, (diff color footwear *stone*) and 2 of those weapons.

100 works for me. You dont gain skill lava fishing though.

Any word on what the property on the weapon actually does?

I used it vs a guildmate and there's no apparent benefit (slight damage) vs the damage you take using it. We decided we must be missing something.
Friend of mine felt the same way :/...from the name I would have thought it would have an area effect against two or more targets or an aurora like searing/burning/flaming/(etc) gargoyles or something. I got a throwing wep but haven't tested it yet, will see if I can later today. I guess if nothing more it has a pretty color ;/.
Hopefully Logrus will be more specific

does the new shipwreck stuff only come up with dredging hook. Or is it regular loot fishing up chests too with normal rod.

I put a pair of those stone sandals on, and I couldn't move til I took them off. lol
As far i know is that new stuff only comes up with the dredging hook.
The lava fishing poles are actualy fishing poles with the hooks already attached.
A good spot for lava fishing i found is right below the stairs when you enter the abyss from Underworld. There is where the pictures where taken. Just make sure you stand close enough to the Lava.
do you have to be in underworld to fish up those new items? or can i go to fire dungeon?

Frarc answered this question but the old lava poles have a hook attached, then once the hook expires the old lava pole becomes a regular fishing pole, so I'm keeping two old ones as is just in case. Like for example, I use the special reward fishing rod from Aquarium, and put a dredging hook on it, and it made the rod turn red (the color associated with dredging hook) and said I couldn't use it without High Seas (all the new hook content requires the booster, but the items you fish up are freely tradeable).
Frarc also answered this one but I have to agree I think it's regular loot while, I assume, deep sea only, but not sure if you need to be. I have only gotten one dredging hook thus far, and it gave me special loot about 40% of the time over its 50 cast lifespan. The rest of the time I got normal fishing stuff, like fish, serpents, etc.
The thread Flutter mentioned has a post in which probably Frarc lol tested out a wep on an Arctic Ogre, and the test concluded with a very small amount of extra damage every so often. But my friend said he didn't notice anything, so I'm not sure. Since I got a throwing wep and it takes me some soulstone work to get him setup since the blackrock golem ship nerf, I wasn't quick to test it myself, but I am interested...damn Logrus, lol...
My friend and I think maybe it's just for giggles ;P but be nice if there was a real function. Anyone ever play Chrono Trigger? Remember that part where you had to stop running because of the wind, and if you kept running it would blow you to the beginning again? Be neat if there was something like that in the game in which the stone equipment would work ;P.
Oops missed this one. Cracked Lava Rock is the one that looks like a spider egg or something right? You dbl click an axe and target the cracked lava rock and you get one of a few different rocks types, like a geode (colored rock thing) or a geode shard (white rock thing) or other stuff. So basically it gives you a kind of rock.
My theory on the weapon (just speculation) is that when you use the weapon when you have ignited it. Is that it will trigger some kinda burning effect (flamestrike) on your target. It might be that just a small test with fighting a few monster not be enough to trigger something like this. (RNG)
This is just a idea i have just based on the name of the weapon.

Something my guild mate and i just noticed is neither of usa could ignite the weaponos in CC but could in the EC.
So you have seen black/shadow?
I'm at 61 skill and have fished up pavers, cracked lava rock, shoes, boots, sandals, and a lava infused gargish battle ax.
Actually there could be a function for them mage pvp 1on1 duels. Both mages wear the stone footwear. First one who takes the stone footwear off, and runs loses. See there is a function for them.

You can't cast with them on. You don't even auto defend.
