I need in game assistance to locate my ship (ship rune not working bug).

Yes. I refreshed it yesterday so it is IMPOSSIBLE that the ship decayed.

Yes. I know where it was since I marked its last location on UOAutomap and went there with another ship but my ship was not there.


My only possible guess ? Someone else moved it.

No. NOONE else has access to my account and I doubt I was hacked since rest of account is fine (House, gold, etc.)

How was anyone able to board it ? Beats me.

Especially since I DID the change to N/A for Public access (see my other thread about it).

Anyways, at this point only a Game Master can help me locate it but I paged for one and been waiting now a good while and no sign of one. I simply do not have the time in real life to wait hours upon hours at the keyboard waiting for in-game assistance to show up. I do have tons of things I must do in real life also........

Do I have any other option like calling up a phone number to have then a Game Master show up in the game to help me out in a reasonable time ?

Trust me, it is not fun and a ROYAL waste of my time. But what can I do ?

And I HAVE been carefull with my ship, more than enough. Not only I did what I was suggested in the other thread, but as an extra caution, I also marked the ship location in UOAutomap.

I DID set up as suggested N/A for Public Access, until yesterday all was fine, refreshed my ship and it was there. Today it is no longer there.

Why ? I have no clue but I DID what I was suggested to do in the other thread.

At this point, I need to know how I can get in-game assistance in a reasonable time as I simply lack the time to stay at my keyboard for hours upon hours waiting for a Game Master to answer my page.

So what other option do I have to get in-game assistance in this game in a reasonable time ?

Well it seems you are having pretty bad luck of late, I will agree that in game assistance can be up and down, I have had to page twice this week.

The first time Akime (spelling) showed up within minutes and fixed me up no problem, nice chap.

I paged again last night, after trying to place an item in my house and it falling underneath. I was kept in the queue for an hour, then I received a message stating the my post had been received and that someone would be with me shortly, then another message saying I was 19th in the queue, I was 6th before that.... after another hour I gave up.

I cannot even recall when was it the last time I got a Game Master assistance in game....

That is, it has been ages.........

I have been able to wait about an hour at the keyboard while sailing around with another ship in the area where my ship was yesterday (trying to locate it) but neither did I find my fishing ship nor did a Game Master show up. I then had to log off.

Not sure when I can log back in.... will my page still be valid or will I need to page back up again ?

By the way, I NEVER got a queue, just a message saying that I had paged and a Game Master would eventually show up but the Queue Message never ever came up for me while waiting that hour.

Is there a better option like calling up a phone number and telling them that I need a Game Master to help me in the game ? I really do not have that time at hand to be logged in for hours to wait for a Game master to show up....

Unfortunately, there is a bug that causes all runes marked to a ship loose track of that ship.

The ship exists, is there floating on the waters but simply all runes tied to it loose track of the ship, somehow.

Players have tried dry docking it, remarking runes and a number of things but the bug still comes back inexplicably.

A possible way is to mark last location of the ship on either UOAutomap or UOCartographer which I now do since a while back (I use UOAutomap because it shows the server lines which are handy for fishing quests) so that if the rune stops working, one can find the ship with another boat, board the ship and remark the rune.

This one time, I went to the location marked in UOAutomap with another ship but my ship, which I refreshed yesterday, was no longer there.

At this point only a Game Master can help me find it again but the problem is how do I actually get one to show up to help me.......

Page the GM, ideally as soon as you login. If they don't respond before you're done playing, you can cancel the page or leave it to see if they manage to fix anything while you're logged off.

Repeat as necessary.

I've gotten help within 20 minutes when I had secures drop under my house.

If you do happen to log off before the GM responds, I'm sure a GM would be able to mark a rune for your boat and drop it in your pack. Or move the boat to a location and tell you the co-ordinates.

Failing that, post on your shard forum with the name of your boat and see if anyone has seen it.

I also had the coordinates of my ship's last location (a ship that I refreshed only yesterday) marked in UOAutomap. Problem is, that I found no ship there today when I went to those coordinates using another ship......... How's that possible ? I'd love someone to give me a good explaination for that.....

As of now, though, at least I would be glad if I could receive in-game assistance from a Game Master to help me locate my ship as I cannot find an alternate way that I can possibly do it on my own. But I cannot seem to get a Game Master to show up during the limited time frame that I can be logged in Ultima Online.

When a player pages for help, is one supposed to get the Queue message with whatever number one is in a Queue 100% of the times ?

I am asking, because when I page for GM assistance I only get the starting message that says I will (eventually) have a Game Master assist me but I NEVER get a Queue with a waiting number to show up.

Does this mean that my page for some reasons never went through ?

That is, that I "think" I have paged a GM but they actually never got my page and never put me in a Queue ?

If so, how do I fix this and get in a Queue when I page for in-game Assistance ?

Have you dry docked your boat recently?

No, not recently. I dry docked it time back but since the bug came back as it did to others, I found that dry docking it was a useless annoyance and so I resorted to marking in UOAutomap the last location so that when hit by the bug, I could just reach it with another boat to re-mark the rune on board.

I am not sure what you mean for near, if you mean on the side of a server line, no, but if you mean not that many tiles away from one then yes.

Not moving yes, but if you mean anchored, then no, the ship was not anchored.

Usually I access my ships the very first thing as I log into the shard. So, it can hardly be anything I may do in game before trying to recall off the rune to get to the ship.

It must be something else, not related to player's actions, IMHO.

Have you tried placing another ship with the character that owns the lost ship, to determine whether the ship is gone-gone, or just misplaced?

It certainly would be nice if we could figure out why this happens! this has happened to me at least 4 times.

Now I do not usually dry dock my boat..I leave it at sea and refresh it. I do dry dock it and remark runes when this bug happens. I do not let it sit on or near server lines because it bugs me when others do *grins* . I hadn't used my boat for a few days so it was fairly worn. It is always stopped when I recall off it.

Yes, and I am not allowed. When I double click the ship icon to place it in the water the exact message that I get is :

You already have a ship deployed

All I need is a Game Master to help me locate it, but how ???

By the way, after I logged off (I had paged and waited for an hour for a GM to show up...), I now logged in again after a few hours logged off.

I checked my HELP button and my page seems to still be active (I see the option to "Cancel" it but I left it be, did not cancel it). Yet, I have NO Game Master message button to click (meaning that no Game Master action was taken while I was logged off several hours...) and neither do I read and Queue messages that I am any number in waiting.

What should I do ? Cancel the help page and re-page again or left it be not to loose whatever Queue number I might be in ? But I get no message whatsoever that I am at any Queue number.......... !!!

The in-game assistance for this game is so damn frustrating and still, I do pay several hundreds dollars per year in UO in between subscription fees and codes purchasing. I would hope that for spending several hundreds dollars I would at least get a decent in-game assistance when I need it.........

You have been on the forums here for years. You should know better. 90% of the people I played with have quit, UO updates are lame, game issues never get fixed, support is terrible, bugs ruin the game, hackers, scripters... Countless problems with UO make people quit. You are still there so you must not give a damn about any of the bugs or problems. Suck it up dude just like you have done for years.

I have been playing pocket legends on my iphone and get better support then I ever did in UO.

Actually no, I DO give a damn and infact, I get often bashed for my posting precisely because of that, because I STILL hope that UO can be made a better game by voicing up what does not work or what can be improved....... And often my dissenting posts are not liked because I tend to say what I think should be done for the better sake of the game.

As in regards to this particular issue, I am totally stuck without in-game assistance.

I am unable to locate my ship on my own even though I DID mark the ship's last location in UOAutomap. There is nothing else that I can possibly do but have a Game Master show up and assist me. Problem is, that even paging for one I do not get one to show up. I do not even get any message that I am any number in waiting in a Queue !!!

Well maybe they dropped the queue numbers, it wasn't the most reliable indicator even at the best of times. I honestly can't remember if there was a queue number the last time I called for a GM, only that they turned up quick and sorted the problem heh.

Page anyway, at worst you'll get a message when you login the next day. Put it this way, the sooner you page the sooner you'll get your ship back.

I went ahead and cancelled my former page thinking something had gone wrong with it.

Re-paged and things are pretty much the same. About 30-40 minutes wait time this second time, no Game Master attention and NO Queue again. No shown number in waiting, nothing. I do not even know if my page, the second page I did this second log in, went through to an in-game customer assistance service.

I can only stay logged for another 15 minutes and then I will again have to log off for the day.

I will leave the page going and see if I find a message when I log back in tomorrow.

Honestly, though, this way of assisting customers in-game is VERY lacking, IMHO.

I just hope that I can eventually get a Game Master to help locate my ship BEFORE if decays for not being refreshed.......

Is there a phone number that I can call to kinda push getting in-game assistance ? It sounds absurd to me that players should call a phone number to get in-game assistance but what else can I do when I am unable to get a Game Master to show up when using the in-game paging system ??

I mean, I was even very begging in my paging message, asked PLEASE COME HELP ME several times and explained well that this was a problem I could not solve on my own without a GM assistance. But no, no help provided, still.........

Popps, this might be a big time-critical issue to you, but it won't be that urgent to a GM. Your boat isn't going to vanish if it has to wait a few hours, so in the great scheme of things it's probably around average to lower priority. Begging isn't going to make any difference there. State your problem clearly and that it requires a GM to locate the boat and let the GMs do their job when they have time. If you phoned them I doubt anyone will prioritise your call because it's still not a really time critical issue.

Give the GM system a chance before you start looking for phone numbers. Your boat will be fine, but you need to exercise some patience and remember you're not the only player paging a GM thinking your problem is urgent. GMs are busy people.

If you left your boat near Magincia (at least the docks, dunno about the rest of the island) or within the bouys of the Emporium, it will get moved away after a brief time (~20 mins, I think).

Since the Rune/Boat Connection Bug started, I have been leaving my boat near a shore AND marking a rune on the shore near it. I have been hit by the connection bug a couple of times. Everytime, the rune on the shore gets me to my boat, without the need to page GM support.

Follow these simple steps:
1. Leave boat along the shore.
2. Use the ropes to go to shore.
3. Mark a rune on the shore.
4. Take a few steps and recall to marked rune (verify the rune works).

If you get hit by the bug, you can recall to the shore, board the ship as normal, and mark a rune on the ship.

If you want help sailing the seas to find it, please let me know. I will probably need a boat though.

Hmm yesterday when I had an intruder in my private home whom I couldnt ban.. I got the que list.. I was #7 (seems its always that dang number)... was in que for several hours waiting on them to come remove my uninvited guest. They never did show up... I got a canned msg telling me they are checking into it and would contact me if they needed additional information... did I mention he was still in my house when I got that msg??? Yes I feel your pain... i recommend going to the last place your boat was and doin grid searches.... towards the closest server line. Unlike the old days.. when you find a boat you can board.. and send it ghosting away... it wont sink when it hits a sim line.

Now, my problem with the situation, and I have to agree with Popps on this one. I paged for a GM, was explicit in what I needed, that my boat rune had been broken again, gave em the name of the boat and the listed owner and the facet it was on.
Sent it, never got any response whatsoever. None, nada, zilch. Thought maybe I had screwed it up somehow, so I cancelled and did it again. No response at all. That was aggravating enough, but it gets even better!
I gave up, logged off the char, logged into another char, and shortly after I did, I got a message that my page had been received and someone would assist me shortly. *shakes head*
THen, I started gettting the queue messages. I was 41, for cryin out loud. about an hour and a half later when I logged, I still hadnt seen anyone.

my GM found it for me tho, she new about where it was and sailed until she found it, then i just recalled to her ship.

But really, if they have no intention of assisting, or if they are gonna be 3 hours getting to ya, make a response taht says that, don't just leave us standing around like a bunch of zombies!

Now this is interesting. Never encountered this before. Couldn't ban them? Did you try "remove thyself"?

On another note, I find that the "queue" system is unreliable. Being number 10, 25, or even 1 means nothing in regards to how soon you will be helped. I've been around 25 and received help seconds later.

What I may suggest >you need< ... is to give out the shard/facet and last known coordinates of your NAMED ship ...
If not the few community "helpers" present/aware ... good chance some of the trollers WILL look for it ...
just to beat ME there ...

HOW did you phrase your page?
since management directed and allowed on one of the "lost ship" phases
Feel free to mention that: "Mesanna directed me to page for assistance in finding my lost ship"

One general question to the forum at large:

Is it possible to sail a ship through the serpent pillars to a Fel ruleset?
Could well be (if is possible) popps is scuttled on the other side of the world ...

Yes I tried remove thyself.. it was like he wasnt really there. I couldnt walk through him but he never moved the whole time he was there and I was there. I wish they would give us our own gms again.. instead of having to share...

Perhaps we should try recording where the boats are when the runes break. Popps, you said you put a marker in uoam, can you tell us the co-ordinates of that marker?

I bolded the part that finds me particularly in agreement.

I mean, I make my page and am left clueless, in the total dark without even knowing whether my page was received and seen by anyone.

I would at least appreciate a message promptly after paging, saying that the problem I paged about will be taken care of as soon as possible and that I will be further contacted for whatever needs and that I do not need to be logged for my problem to be taken care of.......

Furthermore, with ships which do decay timing might be crucial depending when it was last refreshed. So, while the issue might not be a high priority if the ship has just been refreshed, it might become such priority if many days have already passed since last refresh leaving the player anxious about what will happen to the ship and the hold's content.

Now THAT sounds quite scary to me and, perhaps, what happened to also my ship....

I mean, I am positive that I set Public Access to N/A as I was told in last thread and only 3 characters of mine are in the list of characters allowed to board the ship. Noone else but me has been allowed access to my ship. Period.

I would really LOVE to know how it is possible for others to board ships and sail them without an inch of a problem when they are not supposed to do it......

By the way, I logged again today after maintainaince to check about any GameMaster Message for whatever action might have been taken while I was logged off (I logged off leaving my Page pending......) and, to my horror and total disbelief not only I had no message waiting for me at log in, but my Page was no longer pending !!!

That is, a TOTAL NOTHING at all in result to my in-game assistance Page !!!

Incredible.

Now does this mean that I need to Page again for today, and again for tomorrow, and again for the day after that ????

I CANNOT fix the problem on my own, I need in-game assistance but am unable to get it. So how do I proceed now if I may ask ??

Are there other areas like this? Does anyone know?

The New Magincia docks have an auto-teleport of your ship. This area also includes a portion of the northern shore of the New Haven/Occlo island, just south of the docks. I do not know the size of the region affected.

Is it possible to sail a ship through the serpent pillars to a Fel ruleset?

The serpent pillars allow you to travel between the Britania/T2A on the same facet. You cannot cross facets with your boat, unless the owner drydocks and relaunchs it in the other facet.

What was your last destination (from/to)?

The first time I got hit by the connection bug (the only time I needed GM support, see earlier post) I phrased my page like this:
"My recall rune to my ship *insert name* has broken connection. I last left it on *insert facet*. This is a known bug and Mesanna instructed us to page to resolve the issue."

I refreshed the ship the very day prior to the one when the rune stopped working leaving me unable to recall to the Ship. I went to that location with another ship but my ship (named "Berenguine" is no longer there). The ship has been sitting there for weeks now, since when I was looted. That is my "fishing" ship and I did not have time to fish in the past weeks and so, there was no use to move it. I just recalled to it to refresh it every 2 or 3 days. So, I doubt it might have been saved to a prior location since the prior location for weeks, has been that location.

I can help you look for it, but I will need a boat.

What color is it?
What is the name of the ship/pilot?
What was your last destination (from/to)?

It is a Tokuno Boat, no color (as it comes from purchasing it), named "Berenguine" and, as I said, no destination was for it, it has been sitting there for the past weeks and refreshed every 2 or 3 days in the hope I can find some time for fishing which I doubt I will have again for quite a while due to real life impediments.....

I paged in a similar way only added a few "please" and that I need in-game assistance as I was unable to solve the issue myself. I did not mention Mesanna or any other Developer as I did not feel like needing a recommendation for an issue which is clearly, IMHO, a Game Master's duty to assist with. I would imagine it is part of their job to assist with issues like this, so why would I need a Developer's recommendation in order to get in-game assistance ???

I didn't know this. Can we get this area marked on a map so that people know to avoid leaving their boat there?

I dont play much lately. But I have a total of 4 ships on the seas, that i keep refreshing every few daysw. One of those 4 ships lost the connection to its rune twice or even three times.
- 2 of those ships are old-fashioned and have no problems with connections to their keys
- 1 tokuno shipis used to sail around serpents hold for fishmonger quests. it has a few crates in its hold most of the time. its rune is marked as default in its runebook and the ship owner is my fisher, who is also the only char, who uses my boats
- 1 tokuno ship is parked in the lost lands trammel. My fisher uses that one for trap fishing. It has a couple of traps in its hold. Another char on my main account is the owner. This one has lost the connection to its rune multiple times. The ship itself hasnt moved between the last two times. I sailed to their with a fith boat and marked a new rune for my fisher. One of the interesting things is, that both runes (the original and the one in your bank box) loose the connection to that ship. (Just for the records ... it came into the lost lands by using the serpent pillars near Jhelom.)

I searched for over an hour for it, west of Jhelom. No luck. It's nothing but blue over there (alot of blue, now I remember why I don't sail in that area).

I hate to say this Popps but first off...

We all know or some are TRULY fooling themselves that there honestly IS NO customer service associated with EA games. It's a LIE. They wouldn't know the meaning of Customer Service if it jumped up and bit them in the ...... Nose.

Secondly, every since High Seas... I don't trust leaving a ship in the waters. It's a risk you run now.... chances seem high that you will lose the vessel if left unattended.

I would NEVER leave my large brit ship in the water.

The only boat I have lost however is my Tokuno Fishing ship. Which was lost when I had no internet for over a week.

Casualty of lack of refreshment.

I would suggest ...... never keep a boat in water if you can help it.

If you must keep a ship at sea be sure to keep the cargo bay as empty as possible. Fish Monger quest box is all I ever leave in my ship if I must leave it anywhere.

This way you can avoid as much loss as possible. I know often it's inconvenient but it's all I know of to safeguard against loss.


As for the DEV's being unable to fix the issue... I often wonder how hard they are trying and I'm not sure anyone knows exactly WHY some ships vanish and a majority do not. Is it something to do with WHERE it's parked? Something to do with WHAT it was doing? HOW it is accessed?
WHEN it was abandoned or last refreshed? WHO knows?

I've never had a ship just vanish. But then I don't just leave my ship either.

The only ship I've ever left vanished by lack of refresh and I sailed that one all around the globe and back again.

Because I refreshed it 3 days ago, the very day before the rune bug hit me, AND, if I try to place another boat with that ship owner I get the message saying that I ALREADY have another ship deployed and I cannot deploy another one.

So, ALL I NEED IS A GAME MASTER TO COME FIND IT WHEREVER IT MAY BE.

Is that too much to ask for a customer who pays hundreds of dollars a year on the product ?

I just need a FEW MINUTES of a Game Master's time to come and find the damn ship wherever it may be. A FEW MINUTES, THAT'S IT.

instead, so far I have been wasting HOURS of my time between yesterday and today and I have not even gotten a damn message from the in-game assistance service.

I do not know others but personally, I find this OUTRAGEOUS.

I would like to know how on earth is a customer -who has no other possible way to solve the issue on his/her own-, supposed to receive in-game assistance.

There is NO OTHER WAY that I can possibly locate my ship but with a Game Master's help.

Yet, it has been 2 days now, several hours of MY TIME (and I have VERY little time in my life available for a game these days....) and I have received not even a message from in-game assistance telling me that they are working on the issue or will work on it as soon as possible. NOTHING ! I am left in the total dark.

Is this reasonable by anyone's book if I may ask ?? Especially, when I do support the product with several hundreds of dollars per year.......

Alright, I think it should not be necessary, as I think that Game Masters should get their "directives" from their SUPERVISORS, not players (and definately looking for players' ships should BE in that Supervisor's Directive as it is in Mesanna's...) but oh well, I guess that if I want to find my damn ship through a Game Master (as I am unable to find it on my own...) I'd better be the one to inforrm them of the "directive" about lost ships and not wait for a Game Master to ask their Supervisor.......

I seriously doubt a Game Master will just trust my word about it.......

By the way, I just logged in with the Ship owner, the Page is still pending, not like yesterday when I left it pending when I logged off but found it aborted by the system when I logged back in hours later.

Thing is, I still got NO MESSAGE from in-game service.

My Page is still pending (i.e. I "could" cancel it if I wanted but obviously I am not going to...) but I have no clue, not having received any message, whether a Game Master ever saw it, whether they are doing anything about searching for my ship and what am I supposed to do.

By the way, I am in NO QUEUE. I am not getting any message that I am number such and such in a Queue so, I have no clue what the status of my page might be.

Honestly, this is the most strange in-game service that I have ever met. My problem would just need a few minutes of a Game Master and yet, it has been now 2 days, several hours wasted of my time and a lot of frustration on my side and I am still left clueless.

Queue means nothing! Nothing at all! So STOP canceling your pages just because you think it isn't working simply because you aren't getting a queue number. All it's doing making you have to wait longer and longer for a response.

While you're waiting for a GM you can of course place yourself one of the classic boats and sail around looking for it. Who knows, you might find it before you get a response.

But the Sea is VERY large and my ship could be EVERYWHERE. The chances that I can possibly find it, since it is no longer at my marked location, are realistically close to nothing.

I KNOW I am wasting my time trying to find it and yet, I am doing it. What for since it is a helpless search? No idea.......

I would have already bumped into it ...

as it currently IS ... I'm rounding the trinsic shores and have seen 2 sets of 7floating cannons and a single,
died twice to shore casters (a reaper and a wind ele ... long time since THAT has happened )
I launched from Brit docks and set about going counter clock (port side to the shore)
