Throwing sampire viable?

Was thinking of making a making a throwing sampire, but is it even really viable? Or is it just better to go with the standard sampire melee build?

Throwing sampire works very well.
I run one on siege with spirit speak and 120 imbuing on the char, and even with the limited equipment there he can solo certain spawns and bosses.

That said, for low level spawns a melee sampire is faster because of whirlwind.

Like Klapuac said, it should work fairly well. But you miss out on a couple of key elements, namely the ability to ride a swamp dragon for the damage reduction, and the whirlwind special, for MASS KILLING.

Against big boss, one on one fights it should work pretty well.

i thought about making a mystic thrower thats a sampire lol..

its too bad its not easier to switch from 125 int to 125 dex

i have a 120 mystic and all the Bushido skills on a stone lol

i see something like this being fun.
120 mystic
100 focus
120 throwing
100 bushido
90 tactics
100 resis
99 necro
65 chiv
maybe use some +skill items..

use mystic instead of needing wirlwind

I haven't played a thrower so it may not be an optimal template, but GM Spirit Speak and GM Necromancy is a great combo, will allow you to switch back and forth as necessary.

Plus, in vampiric embrace, you can use curse weapon for around 30 seconds of 70% life leech.

There is a small problem with mysticism + vampiric embrace. A lot of the useful mystic spells use garlic as a reagent.

True, but if you are using LRC, the garlic thing will not affect you.

That is incorrect. It doesn't matter if you have LRC or not, Garlic is still a reagent of the spell.

And yes, I just tested it (took 22 points of damage from casting a Cure).

When did that change? I swear it did not used to work that way, but good to know.

Scrolls have still triggered the garlic damage for years now. Never tried with LRC and VE, but I'm pretty sure it'd be the same.
