[UO Herald] Publish 71.0 Comes to Origin

[UO News]

Greetings,

We'll push Publish 71.0 to Origin today, Tuesday 19th at 11:00 am EDT. This requires a short downtime: we expect the shard to be back online within an hour no later than 12:00 pm EDT.

Please check the previously posted Publish 71.0 Notes. There are some additional changes:

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the problem with transferring an increased storage home to a player without increased storage to their accounts.
• The tentacles of the Harrower should not spawn in unreachable locations any longer/
• Removed the archery property on gargoyle jewelry/
• Made it easier to get the Fishing Book 6.
• Fishing hooks can not be applied to Siege Only fishing poles with less uses than the hook.

If I am not mistaken, it shouldn't matter what shard they use. If TC1 does its job then all the main bugs and dislikes should be worked out, the use of Origin is just to see how a production shard handles the the patch. As has happened in the past a patch can cause a production shard to crash or other wise malfunction and does not happen on tc1. Aside from that I have no idea.

Origin is the production shard test shard and that is why it was created.

I'm pretty certain as it is right now enhance potions nor alchemy actually factor into the cure chance of poisoning through cure potions..

It didn't on Test anyways. Does it now? Would be nice to get more specifics on poisoning here.

I can think of a couple of times players on Origin have caught serious problems that weren't discovered on Test Center. On at least one occasion, items were lost in the testing on Origin and they were not replaced either. Some shard does need to be the guinea pig. Perhaps it is better that it is a shard like Origin with a smaller population in case something really bad happens. Fewer screams if there is a revert, or as the case may be, if there is not a revert. Imagine trying to decide whether or not to do a revert on Atlantic if items were lost. All the cancelled trades. All the lost skill gains. That would be one headache I sure wouldn't want to have, trying to decide how to react to the first-shard release of a buggy publish.

I tried for a while last year to help get more players on Origin; however, I closed up the accounts that held my main characters there and moved on to Siege earlier this year. I enjoyed helping to test stuff; but anymore it seems like publish notes are so vague in places that testing stuff is almost impossible to do.

On a side note, I was going to use a character transfer to pull some items from Atlantic to Origin. I guess I am too late now and I won't be able to do the transfer until Atlantic and Origin are on the same publish. Oh well... I hope this goes well and the rest of the shards are published on Friday.

I remember when you packed it in Tina. I believe it was due to you being sick of Bane Dragon griefing, but I could be wrong. It was a sad day nonetheless because your informative threads were awesome to say the least.

I would've made a character on origin long ago if not for my 125+ ping there. I just couldn't justify rolling out a real character into horrible lag. I spammed a bit on Origin today because I wanted someone to check out Putrifier's new "leash", but all I see are tumbleweeds blowing bye.

Test quickly, Obsidian! I bet they push this publish out to the other shards tomorrow afternoon!

If my Origin tamer's account was still active, I'd try some more testing for that vaguely worded bug fix that involves pet stabling. However, I tested all I could do solo for that on TC1 and never did figure out what, if anything, had changed. Don't know if anyone has tried testing to see if your pets don't auto-stable if you log out while combat flagged.

Yeah, that was the reason. I'm really hoping that playing on Siege will help toughen me up a bit and if/when I'm inclined to quit the next time it isn't because of anything another player has done.

I'll go to Navrey tonight and see how my sampire handles him. I will try using EOO + Perfection compared to using a Spider Slayer. I'll test the latest with CW and see how it works now too. I think I have 61 chiv on that sampire and know I'm going to have to push tactics down from 120 to 100 and chiv from 61 to 81. Not sure if I'll have to adjust further.

@Aaron, there are no intentions whatsoever for higher than 100 poisoning.

@Obsidian, I think most of the samps/whammies will tweak their normal builds to 80 chiv now. Peeps will only use 80 or 120 for pvm now (120 when and if they finish working the skill that is, it takes forever to 120 not using jewels).

Get it through your head. It isn't an exploit. That feature is built into the EC, it's a player made work-around to use it in EC.

Being able to use a wep special before the wep is in your hand is an exploit. Being able to stack wep properties is also an exploit. (this bug has the same unintended results as the fc1 dagger trick used back in the day to attain fc3 on a small number of spells when the cap was fc2)

And no...the create food weapon switch was not a *feature* of the EC.

And no...using outside means to attain the *features* of the EC is not legal. Want to use the EC...use the EC. However don't use the EC as a reason to cheat...period.

the EC you can switch weapons without disarm.

no need to disarm on EC, just weapon switch to 1 arm weapon and drink pots and switch back.. no disarm at all.

IE: the item wasn't in hand but had full benefit of the casting prop.

Origin was created to be the *live test shard* and I love it!

So far I've noticed that the *your fingers slip!* message while bandage healing happens ALOT...about 95% of the time..whereas before I rarely got that message. I also noticed that once I DO get that message, the heal doesn't heal as much...this is working as intended correct? I have to re-read the patch notes.

I'm currently training chivalry, it's still pretty low :/

Sounds like it is working as intended, except it should be based on your dex and how much damage you take.

*smacks devs* this stuff belongs on the HERALD, i think you can afford the few kilobytes of extra storage for one image on that page.... not all of us want to create a bunch of fake personal information we'll never remember just so we can see stuff on your facebook page, or just give in and use our real personal information on a site that's notorious for leaking data to third parties on a monthly basis. (that and bugmenot doesn't have any facebook accounts to use, they scan bugmenot and keep killing them off :/ )

Some years back, it was created to be the "first production shard" for changes to be uploaded to.

It's less about bug fixes than about "see if a regular shard blows up with this stuff."

Though every once in awhile a bug is found there.

I have 2 double stacked mondain coins that occured becaue of origin. A true 2 rarity. I loved origin when I was there.

There is no pause in the cc to switch weapons, equiplastweapon lets you switch between 2 weapons instantly with no gap or pause, which is why I always wondered why people bothered with the create food spell!
