Devs,

I have requested the following fixes for several years. These hinder gameplay and take away from the quality of my game experience.

1. Rubber banding effect when you try to run along the south side of a private home. It is very annoying that your character gets trapped by this rubber banding. I have asked for this fix, since the very first installation of private homes several years ago. Please fix this.

2. A few years ago, you released a patch that had an unexpected effect of not allowing placement of homes within 5 tiles of the North wall of Zento city (Makota-Jima). The lots alllow for 18x18 plots and thats what we had before the patch. Now, the biggest you can place is 13x18 and you are so far back that you lose your cool view into the city. These spots were really nice before, but now because of this bug, they are not. Please fix this and allow us to place our front steps within a tile of the wall like before.

3. Castle courtyard recall/mark/gate/sacred journey functionality was taken from us years ago like a thief in the night. It was a knee jerk reaction to some griefer thing that a very small minority complained about. It has hurt the rest of us ever since. Please give us the ability to recall/mark/gate/sacred journey into out courtyards again.

Thank you EA. I hope you read this and fix these for us.

1. Yes this still happens. More with the Small Tower than anything but it's still there to a certain extent.

2. This effected ALL houses not just Zento. You now must be 6 tiles from any home..... this allows for the stairs. For some odd reason all homes now must be 6 tiles behind..... also ..... you can't have trees or rocks or anything in the 1 or 2 tiles in front of a house either... so I have noticed.

3. Being the owner of a Castle I can see why I wouldn't want folk to mark in my courtyard... since I can't ban anyone from there either... sorry. If they finally fixed it so I can deco and control my courtyard Yes then I'm all for it. But as it is I can't do anything in the courtyard and that includes ban intruders, reapers, corpsers or anything else for that matter..... so I'm sorry but leave this as is or allow me to deco my courtyard and give me control there to ban people from it.

The small tower… or small stone tower, whatever that classic house design is called. There is actually a piece of stone (from the walls) that sticks out as you run behind the house… catching you and otherwise tripping you up. Such a big pain in the backside. STILL in effect. It's true you don’t see many of the classic houses anymore, but I avoid running bind those just in case.

Yeah, the “rubber band” effect is a BIG pain in the neck. I really don’t understand why this hasn’t been addressed in all these years… but don’t forget, even with public houses, even when you can't see obstacles because the house contents haven't loaded yet… you will hit an invisible barrier and get that same snap-back.

I also never understood that change to Castle courtyards. You would figure one of the bigger advantages to owning such a gross waist of space… you could recall inside the house to avoid ambushes…. BUT maybe that’s why. PKs who love hanging around other people’s house doors, hidden. The staff seems to sway changes to the light side of the scale far too much. Then we get the house to house teleporters so anyone with a house in Fel and a house not in Fel can get safe into their house with out being murdered. So, figure that one out. hehe.

EA makes money selling the house teleporters through the game code store. They wouldn't make any money just by allowing players to recall into castle courtyards.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would pick those “gate scroll eating” teleporters over the nice 12 year vet ones. Poor design, high maintenance… but I guess, if desperation is abound. hehe ;)

Hmmm....

I've purchased seven pairs since they came out. Five pairs are in use on Siege and the other two are in storage on Baja. I started playing UO after the Samurai Empire expansion, so I don't own any accounts that are old enough to claim those tiles nor do I have gold to waste buying vet rewards I can't place with my own characters.

The rechargeable tiles honestly don't use as many gate scrolls as you'd think when connecting private houses, since each gate scroll provides five charges. All it costs me to keep the tiles charged is a few reagents now and then, since I make blank scrolls out of bark fragments and get a lot of the reagents for scribing gate scrolls as monster loot or sometimes even picked up off the ground. And if I really need gate scrolls in a hurry, I buy them from Vlad's vendors on Siege or cut him a deal to get some in trade for something he needs. I maybe go through 200-300 gate scrolls in a month, if that, to keep 10 tiles half-charged.

I wouldn't say I'm desperate for using the rechargeable tiles. Maybe stupid for persisting in playing a game where I'm apparently one of the few people who hasn't played since beta and/or acquired from someone else an account that's been around since beta. Sometimes I wonder why I bother, though. People like you make it pretty obvious that the developers are apparently wasting precious time when they add anything to the game that is geared towards non-vet players. With such blatant snobbery so frequently expressed here and in-game in chat, it's no wonder new and returning players usually don't stick around for long.

The change to Courtyards came about because of Griefing. No other way about it. Because there is NO way you can remove someone from your courtyard.

Why because it's not considered part of the house. It's public land. So they made it a no recall zone. Sadly instead of actually making it a part of the house which they should do. If it were considered part of the house you could also lock down items in it and deco it. But since it's not part of the house you can't do that.

But that's just my opinion.... however this would also effect things like "trees" ..... making it so you can't place a castle/keep over a tree where the tree would be inside the courtyard. Still not a big deal on most shards there are plenty of keeps and castles. The Keep should just plain be redesigned and the area's that are "empty" should be part of the house... expand the front bottom room to the east and west and then in the back make the two back rooms larger with a wall in between... problem solved very easy to add just put in some floor and take out two walls and add a wall..... Ooo.... sooo difficult.

Then give Castles a base of grass on the inside call it good and allow it to be deco'd.

Of course then you still can't recall into the courtyard... but you could at least throw someone out of it... and I'd no longer have to deal with all sorts of junk spawning inside the courtyard. NO more reapers in there or gargoyles or corpsers... and I would be able to ban folks inside the courtyard.
