Something odd about an e mail from uo

In the past I would get an e mail from EA stating the conformation of my password on my account.... it never said what account or who asked for it.... I would get a little uneasy and start to grill my son if he perhaps hit the request for password on an unused account.
Nope.. wasnt him. Then it stoped.

Well yesterday evening I went to check my email for something and here at the top of the e mail is a EA password request results.....
Ok I didnt ask for it and my son didnt ask for it.. IT dosent tell me what account it was requested for or who requested it.... I am a bit nervous as with 53 accounts keeping the security is my top priority1. Phishing aside I need info!!! what account was it on for one!

Has anyone else gotten this??

Flush all passwords
pity you can't modify account name

all passwords = ALL PASSWORDS, all "services"accounts protected by password

could have been generated (the email you recieved) by an old account holder(that remembered the account name)
and didn't realize that the email addy had been changed ...
or an associate >of theirs< found an account name/service and was just poking about to see.
and/or an old installation >with the account name still in the login slot< ... computer "discarded"
and junk picker looking at what s/he got ...

Change all that you can ... email service listed to account too ...

Consider it a "late spring cleaning"

and no ... honest kid >doesn't preclude< a nosey "friend" ...
huh?

The e-mail doesn't (and shouldn't) list the account name to reduce the chance of somebody stealing your account.

You don't want somebody to be able to look over your should, see a single e-mail, and all of a sudden be able to log into your account.

I'd suggest having at least 1 unique password for every 10 accounts so that...
1. If somebody gets the password for one, you risk losing 10 accounts instead of 53
2. You only need to change 10 passwords if you think your password was compromised
3. If you get another e-mail, you can more easily narrow down which account the e-mail is for (which might help you figure out who is doing the requesting)

Change the emails associated with the accounts first, then change the passwords.

I've gotten 1 or 2 over the years. My understanding was that it was a request for the password for the (in my case, 1 ) account (which could have been made by most Anybody). I ignored both since I already knew what the pass was. My guess is someone got the name right, and tried for the pass, didn't happen.

One would think that the CS of EA would be able to tell you the Name of the account that it was generated from. After proving your you I mean of course. This way you could figure out if its a phishing expadition or perhaps an old owner might have went to see if the account is still on line... I was given alot of accounts. Most I know would contact me first... unless its one of their kids.... anything at this point is possible.

I know it's a bit much but every one of my accounts has it's own email and it's own password... each email is not the same as each password all are unique and I don't write them anywhere...

I don't use those emails for ANYTHING besides my account. I don't ever post them or anything...

You can't be too careful and I agree with others ...... change your email ASAP and then change your passwords.

So what you are sayin is you pay 530 dollars a month to play UO. Unless you are so organized as to activate and de-activate accordingly as to avoid fees. Either way, You go Girl.

You could be as insane as me and use a unique e-mail address for every account, one that is not used for anything else...

when you change a password will get a email indicating account name and change, i would make a new email address and change all passwords and emails to it to be safe!!
also if you have that many active accounts, you should have your own bat phone access to customer service help :)

just asking here... if she changes email addy(s), won't future notices just be sent to the new address? because she's probably already changed them once, in the past

yes but if her email is compermised, new email would cure proablem of someone with account name and old email access! as this is a old game, friends giving accounts loaning to friends and probably knowing email addresses this can happen!!

Not to mention it's a known fact that many accounts have been hacked NOT because they hacked you from the uo website but because they hacked into your email... sent a thing to UO saying "oops I forgot my account name/password info..." then they check your email and wait...

That's why I NEVER EVER use my email for my accounts for ANYTHING but my accounts.

Each one has it's own email... and each one has separate passwords.

I don't want anyone getting the information to my accounts. I change them frequently ..... at least once per quarter and anytime I suspect I may have been compromised.

I think having my accounts hacked is one of my biggest fears... I'm pretty sure that would be the end of UO for me. I don't think I could play anymore after something like that.

I tought I'd never see the day someone would accuse Lady Storm of being a broker...

You guys have seriously misplaced imaginations !

Don't be so paranoid... just ignore the e-mail... they do the same thing with paypal and whatever else.

I suspect that may lead to other issues when having 53 accounts, lol.

Well to answer a few of your queeries... I have kept account on for months at a time and there sometimes i do switch on a 60 day on/off of half and half (not counting my main 6) if i need to control my finances... So yes and No they are on all the time hehe

As for knowing who and what is what I am known for telling my son what chest has what in it and what bag in that chest has what he is looking for. Even if i am not on the computer. So you can imagine my control of my accounts.

Broker??? Moi??? Hell no. The accounts are all mine for my play. I just couldnt see my friends leave so when they handed me their accounts and waved good bye.... I set the on the side for 1 year i paid for them but didnt touch. After that year I asked them one more time and with their NO I took full control and they were made to be mine in truth. (i bugged them constantly to come back!) I play many shards and have homes all over the place.. I do enjoy UO.

I have talked to son and passwords are under a full change as of now and the e mail is also on a new encrypted password.

Yeah I was impressed with some of the multi-boxers in WoW. I couldn't even begin to imagine what to do with that many accounts.
