Gentlemen and ladies,.,. Ive quit UO for a long time and moved to Darkfall online. I played it for some years and had much fun,.,.., It was brilliant but, history is always the same,.,.., So many complaints from people for being pked and griefed and they started making restrictions to the game (just like they did to UO, Trammel, etc).
The result was a foreseen disaster : Darkfall was destroyed by their own designers,..,

A game with restrictions ? No way,.,.not for me,..,,. so I also quit DF after making good evil friends and griefing to the bone (A great thing I was proud to do in DF was to expell the guild NEW.., It was spetacular to participate in the killing of NEW,.., I HATE NEW AND BLUES.,,.DAMN THEM,.,.gasp)...And then I looked for a new game...


I found out about Mortal Online and promptly started playing it,.,. Was great, could steal from other people too and I brought horror to that game .,., but guess what ? Carebears complained again and the designers recently destroyed Mortal Online.

So I quit and found myself with no lair to unleash the evilness :{


Checked Rift, WoW, AION, etc etc etc all these crappy copies of WOW and couldnt even think about start playing any of them,..,


So,.,.,.deeeeep inside in my memories,.,. I thought : "Wait.... Maybe its time to destroy Britannia again" !! :"}



How is Siege nowadays ? Is there a decent number of people sometimes, at night, or just a complete desert ?
Ive read about the high sea expansion and it seemed cool.,.,

quite possibly the most annoying post I've ever read... I mean ever...

You missed the meet-and-greet with EM Drosselmeyer where he promised to have his event characters carry stuff in their backpacks' for thieves to steal and the one event he was able to carry out before the development team eliminated that ability.

You've also missed out on Evil Lord Smurfy's introduction to Siege and Siege's introduction to Evil Lord Smurfy.

And you've missed out on the recruitment and introduction of oh, probably 80 to 100 new players (if not more) to Siege during the last half year. I'm one of them that's absolutely enchanted by the shard and the people that play there.

O-S and Gilfane, MYTH, and several other guilds have each gained new members. Also, among those new recruits to Siege have been many thieves-in-training. There are lots of new PvPers and PKs on the shard as well.

St. Dismas is carrying out The Father's wishes and cleansing the shard's unwashed nonbelievers. (Can't believe his abbey is so darn close to my house. *Shudders.* I think QZ has plans to point a huge flock of parrots at that abbey and see if they can drive St. Dismas mad. Or something.)

New Magincia has become well populated and is a bustling town of shops and bazaar stalls. Of course, it's all in guard zone, but I would imagine clever thieves know how to get around that obstacle. Zento is well surrounded by homes and shops. The area near Skara Brae has become the new home for Gilfane. And there have been some mysterious whispers of new activity in Barter Town. O-S is cobbling together a new public teleporter web. Can't remember where they plan to put the hub. The Umbra hub has picked up a few more teleporter tiles leading to additional destinations.

Of course, some people have said their goodbyes to the shard and sold off their stuff or just quietly disappeared. It's been interesting to see the same castle (was Elmer Fudd's, I believe) and large amounts of gold change hands a number of times in the space of just a few weeks. Kinda makes a Siege newcomer like me stand aghast at the amount of gold that seems to exist on Siege.

Diablo comes and goes, although he hasn't seemed to cause a whole lot of commotion lately.

So that's this newcomer's take on what's been going on with Siege. It may still be perceived by many as the red-headed stepchild of UO, but I for one don't see it that way. If you want more news about Siege, you should probably saunter over to the Siege forums and ask there! I'm sure some of the Siege old timers can give you a much better update.

The dev team rolled out two new mini-boosters that you can read about elsewhere. Nothing earth-shattering in either one and they cost more than they should for what you get. There's a PvP balancing publish on Test Center with nothing explicitly aimed at thieves, unless perhaps you use poisoning skill as part of your repertoire. About the only thing that the dev team "broke" lately that you might care about was stealing from pack animals' packs and stealing from monsters. That happened when they put in some coding to eliminate the ability to steal from EMs and their characters. However, they quickly set things back to normal for stealing from critters and the uproar that caused among thieves of all kinds was quickly quelled.

I recommend the "public" hub under umbra as a good spot, and "new gilfane" city is a ripe area (in many ways)

Welcome back from the MMO rounds, sounds like the same I experienced, if the game wasn't a poor clone of WoW at first, the devs invariably start to turn it into one because "that's what the players want", which is generally quickly followed by the game dying. Always end up back with UO because it at least doesn't suck QUITE as much as the other games.

I wish EA hadn't killed Earth & Beyond also, the game had major issues (mostly due to EA's "get it out the door before it's done" policy) but it had potential to be a great game, wasn't even online 2 years before they killed it.

the population is still quite low (lower even than when you were last here)
but it has started picking up again recently . i think it would probably do the locals a bit of good to have some danger around .
you play your role well and we could use the action . however i would ask not to go so hard on the new players . as i said we are just getting our population back and id really hate to see people quitting again .

the old refrain of "well they need to learn how it is here" isnt cutting it anymore .

for years i warned people that if you drive away all the newbies you wont have anyone to kill and look what happened . our population dropped so low, most of the pvpers went to atlantic just to have someone to fight .

come back , play as you wish , of course, but just know we need people joining not quitting or this shard may truly die. besides, the newbies have nothing of real value now. why not wait till they ripen so they might have something worthwhile ?

Wyrm my infractions for talking about siege population are getting up there so i sent you a PM of what i consider sieges population to be.

And i agree with you about the MMOs, Verum Xeroth Rojo and I have bounced around alot, we cannot find again what siege was a few years ago. Rift lasted me all of one month before i gave it up. WoW is something i go back to out of habit, same as UO i think any more. Currently we are trying DF again i hope the pvp changes arent to crappy for my playstyle which is greify like yours but not so intense. Example, I play a human and scout human lands for xeroth and verum (dark elves) when i find someone i keep em busy while the boys swoop in and help em kill the other player making sure not to get a killing blow as it is hard to get back to blue now.

Darkfall and MO both had it's good points. I favored Darkfall (awesome looking game) as one does get tired of being bothered with naked players constantly in MO. MO was freer but not enough people. I'm back playing UO with Ken on Trammel shard (just started back) and enjoying the calm of fishing. Damn 120 fishing scroll is impossible. There is no other game out there that satisfies my nesting needs with the best housing and ability to collect stuff. I'm having a good time.

Would love to see more pictures of your family.

I must confess that I still love UO and Im trying to learna bout some player driven UO servers,..,., One server with the golden rules, far before Trammel creation, would FOR SURE have more people than the official server itself.. I have absolutely no doubt of that !

These incompetent UO designers cant see an inch ahead... Its more than OBVIOUS that we would have thousands of players if the game was as simple as it was in 1998 !!! Much freedom and no ridiculous little rules, blessed craps and safe areas !

WYRMIE! How are you, you guitar-playing, singing, purple-kilt obsessed vampire? I have missed the days when I would return to my body to find everything except my kilt! You vamp boys sure loved kilts!! Iantown just wasn't the same without a raid from vamp! You guys always came back three times- we could count on that!
