Bazaar

I know I am most likely in the minority but I like the bazaar.

I will focus on the commodity vendors because I am not much for the animal trade.

Here is what I like about the commodity bazaar vendors:
You can buy 1 of something...no more having to buy a 10 pack and sit on the other 9 when you just need a quick 1 to fill what you need done. Even if the market value on the one is a bit higher, it sure saves having to buy and store the extras.

I can sell stuff without incurring vendor fees. If I believe it a fair price (though many of the people leasing stalls might want to re-think some of their pricing or they won't last) I can take the quick payment option. Sure it will be a bit less than what I would charge on my vendor for the item but after subtracting out vendor fees and any other hassles with vendors including time stocking and mispricing and advertising if you are not a luna vendor, I find it worth it. New players or players that never had a vendor can go look and see how they can make some money by filling a request.

Centralized location for all your commodity shopping. Many people run around and buy out cheaper vendors and restock on their own vendors for a higher price already. Now the bazaar encourages these cheaper vendors to sell directly to the bazaar stall vendor. Provided of course that the stall vendor is charging a fair rate.

What I don't mind about the system:
I don't mind the fact that someone else might make some money off me. If they resell the wares I sell them for a higher amount so be it. Good on them. I got my cut. Stall vendors take the risk and fees and I get to count my moolah without the worry. Plus I get to see what they plan on charging and see if they are successful.

What I hate about the system:
I look at some of the buy-sell prices and realize people have no clue. I realize many in UO are just greedy suckers. And I hope their stalls fail!! But I do like that I have the choice to participate or not in their stall. I could even look for ways of making sure an overpriced stall is paying the maximum in vendor fees and such by making sure the items that aren't selling are always stocked and hoping he isn't smart enough to figure out why he is not making any money.

Anyways, my first interactions with the bazaar were today as I sold a bunch of junk hanging around my house. I realized I had amassed such things as 120k worth of regular wood which I found a bazaar vendor buying for 3 gold per board. I kept a decent amount for emergencies and sold the rest. Selling to the bazaar vendor was much easier than selling 120k worth of boards to an NPC. I shutter to think how much time that route would have taken. I also sold off some imbuing essences that I had low counts on (aka below the customary 10 count for selling on a vendor) that were just sitting there with no real future of increasing at the moment and no real future prospect of being used in the next couple months.

All in all I would say a good addition.
If the community that participates in these vendors use common sense and don't let greed get the better of them when setting their buy and sell prices...it might just succeed. Otherwise hopefully market force will keep the buttheads out.

Tully mutters to himself..."25 gold for a greater heal potion? Thats all this bazaar guy is offering me? and he is turning around and selling them for 225 gold each"
"I hope his buttcheeks grow together and he never sells a one. Poor and constipated, that is what he deserves!"

I was not sure I like the bazzar untill I found the following. A commodity vendor that was "buying" essences. He had all types being bought so I decided to check my inventory. What do you know, 347 essence of feeling.

Wow talk about useless stuff!

Anyhow I know I could never use this essence(magic arrow!) and this bazzar was buying LOL buying this stuff for 1500 an essence. He did have a max amount set to 150. Anyhow I found out just breezing the bazzar you can find player buying things you dont want for good gold and it feels like Im there to:

Rob the bazzar..

I know it seems a bit dastardly to be my soul purpose but really who doesnt shop the back streets looking for deals for resale. This is just...

a little easier!

Agreed love it too.

I would just like to be able to set prices and see amounts on the same page.

Also, i forgot to enter a shop name when i leased and there's no way to rename it after.

You can rename the shop from the first page that appears when you double click your broker. Just enter a new name on the field "Shop Name" and press the button to the right. It takes a few seconds for it to update the sign.

And I'm with you for the "set prices and limits" and the "view inventory" pages: after 30 items, it takes too long to update the price or change the order of the items.
