So Im winding down anyway with slim hopes Ter Mur and dungeon revamp does something.

I am not buying the expansion pack for tiles and didnt really pay attention to the bazaar vendors until today.

I go there to buy something and possibly rent. I have to buy the expansion pack! Laughs.

What an EPIC failure. A good idea maybe. But come on... is there really such a large player base you can exclude those that dont buy the pack from using the Bazaar.

Come on.... Mag is looking bad, and getting worse. If you want it to succeed you need to make it a place you can expand your game play without buying a crappy pack.

I am jaded... maybe others see this differently.

Perhaps an interesting component to game play... that you will never be able to evaluate because you are excluding players from using it.


My prediction.... people buy plots and dress them up.... in 14 days ghost town.


Next time include all the players.

It was said many times prior to release that you need the expansion for the bazaar to use them. But I do agree that we shouldn't have to buy the pack to use them. Just to rent them.

damn i was hopeing you could still buy stuff off the bazzar vendors well now that i know i agree this was a horrid idea who is going to rent the vendor stalls if the market is limited only to the booster people i do realize that our devs probably think it will force people to buy the booster but it won't i have all the expansions up to high seas and i will not be buying the 2 boosters that just came out they offer to little for the cost sorry but high seas was ok had some new nastys and a bunch of cool new arties but i will not spend 10 bucks on some new wall tiles and a few items for the rp'rs distillary planter box that does what a bag of sending does umm no thanks.

course, if they wanted to have fixed this it would have been done back when it was on test..... last month.

now that it has gone live its a little too late.

they should all most make a server to test this stuff on before it goes live.
could give it a name to make it stand out, something like Test Shard.

Yeah i admit id abuse a global search, as many others would. Now you could by up EVERY single uncommon item on the shard and raise prices.

But back to the topic. Allowing all to easily buy from magincia vendors is a must, And would promote sales of the xpac. People would be like, "yes this is a good place to shop," and might eventually actually want to have a vendor, encouraging them to buy the xpac.

The bid system there is also too complicated and tedious. If i have a vendor, i want it for more than a week. I want people to actually remember my vendor for its affordable items, selection, whatever, and use it for More than one week, preferably at least a few months. A vendor for one week? No thankyou.

Also there apear to be no graphics... which basically kills deco items, rares, things that people would want to actually see before buying. Or items that a person might not be familiar with, remember the name, etc.

Personally im fine with Luna and my other vendors, and dont want to deal with the bugs that will most likely come free with the xpac. And of course for magincia vendors to really take off, the search websites would have to default cover them.

I went to the 5 most populated shards and there is 1 pet vendor on GL with no pets. I also checked the signs and there are no bids on these shards also.

These vendors are 5 years to late. And they should be free to use at the very least. Sure you can force a player whom wants to rent a vendor to buy this near useless expansion but I don't see a single spot used on my shard so far. I will judge it in one weeks time before I collapse all hope.

Websites already covers probably 75%+ of the vendors in UO, the ones that count anyway (actively stocked and aren't just BOD storage). So why aren't you abusing it now? and if you are then why NOT include all vendors? Having an in game method would just allow anyone who wants to run a vendor house have equal footing with those in Luna.

I haven't upgraded yet, we had two big utility bills to sort first and have more than one account we want to upgrade, but I fully intend to upgrade and to have an animal vendor selling non-tamer pets.
Only yesterday I read a post from someone who enjoys gathering, but doesn't like crafting. Players such as he might choose to sell their wares this way rather than trying to maintain a permanent vendor, especially if they don't wish make their own home public and place vendors on it or prefer to live in quiet spots where vendors would not see much traffic.

The main complaint in this thread was the assumption that accounts not upgraded could not buy from the stalls. This assumption has proven to be unfounded. All accounts, whether upgraded or not, can interact with existing stalls.

Of course some people are so determined to dismiss the bazaar without giving it a fair trial that they'll even use two different user names to troll the same thread.

Commodities are anything that stacks, they can still be expensive. Re: Saltpeter.

Livestock really? A few vendors will sell non-taming mounts, but the majority will sell luna white and blaze Cu's at obscene prices. Trained greater dragons, dread war horses, bane dragons, and rune beetles as well - all at obscene prices.

humble - a low view of one's own importance.I know those, IRL, sadly, they are easiest to abuse and you can usually make them believe whatever you want. Like taking lambs to slaughter, I think the whole thing was all very well played - they did exactly that.

I like the Quests idea. With little modification, a Lot of quests could be moved and started here, giving players a common starting point, instead of treating them like a no coords t-map. 'sides, put the Develop back in Dev. I think they've run out of ideas, there's even a stickie for story line bits.

and I can get to Magincia, I have other runes, (even blocked ones Not at a house or building). I was just mentioning that the boat used to work, Anyone think it just broke on it's own?
If they can't fix what they did, put in a gate like at Buc's Den, or WestBritBank (remember that place, w/ the jacked up looking pentagram thing?) Give it a chance, show it all to your buds, maybe they'll sign up. I quit telling/showing people, makes me embarrassed when they laugh at me and walk away thinking who knows what about me.

Well it is good anyone can buy. I was at the sand vendor. That is the only one there on atlantic as of yesterday.

I guess it wasn't as intuitive as they thought or I just am stupid. The later is fine.

Still... same concern... if you want truly interactive bazaar with more life... you need all the players to be involved. Especially on lower populated shards.

I still predict the will change.

I wont be buying the package. I notice yesterday several plots said 6 hours. Maybe more are up now and I can see what they do.

I would have done many different things to get folks to hang around the town and open the opportunity to interact. You know most towns do compete for population on some level. If they want to flourish, they offer a reason to go there.

I would have liked to have seen Magincia as a flagship for some sort of tiered citizenship system that offered bonuses to residents of the town based on skills and actions somewhat related to Humility. Not just plot owners there but open to any homeowner on any facet. Quests involving anti-virtue dungens related to the virtue tied related to the town (in this case doom I guess) such as rescue missions or slaying denziens of the dugeon. My imagination runs wild.

New Mag's reason is economic I suppose. But you cant expect much in the form of positive interaction. pet vendors are best left in Moonglow and commodity deed vendors... well It has potential but seem to be bogged down in fee's (weekly bid for the plot, daily commision and a slice of the top of sales) Though I havent tested them to see how it all works. Overall the system seems unintersting so I dont plan to find out. The booster required to purchase it is priced at @half of what you would expect to pay for a full expansion yet has no where near half the content of an expansion. So it is of little value to me.

So I log in yesterday and go visit my Magincia Home, which I have dedicated to gardening....and I swear there use to be a house plot in front but now there are vendor Rental stalls....huh?My Mistake, there wasn't a house in front of this particular location, I simply confused myself, sorry.
Well that isn't so bad...however I think the vendor stalls could of been set up better...
Better location, like that long stretch of open ground from N to S when you are coming in from the moongate...and also make them look like stalls....anyone ever been to a Farmers Market? Which is what magincia would be if done just right....cheaper goods for the less gold oriented player....?

I would like to have seen stalls that look like mini tented tables and small house signs hanging from there and all facing East maybe. Have display icons for tables...IE: you want to sell Regs so you can choose regs to be displayed as in the mage shops....doable?
Put a limit on how much you can sell one item for...? That would weed out those looking to make "uber" monies from having a vendor there...not that everyone will...

I just think the bazaar is lacking in thoughtfulness and care.

I'm confused at what Seven is complaining about. I hopped to Magincia moongate at least daily for a few weeks to tend some plants I had put out there.

I wasn't able to get on TC1 or play for a while, so I'm just sharing my opinion now.
Though...would it take much effort to put some more thought into making Magincia a better town and bazaar...? (using player suggestions.)

i think it just comes down to, paying 10 bucks (equivalent of about 20 mil) for the ability to place a vendor, when you can get a luna vendor for 50k a week just doesnt make sense.

Maybe it is for someone who Reallly likes mining, or really likes mage shop sitting, ... or is a scripter...

The overall experience of Magincia, well for me i made all my suggestions back when the new "community center" didnt even have a set destination yet. It seems this topic has just been beat into the ground so many times with so little action taken by the devs that i for one just gave up on it.

As Silverbrook said, quests would have been the logical start. Especially ones centered around the concept of Humility, and the Virtues in general.

USEFUL NPC buildings would have been the next step. To bring back community and player interaction (something which vendors destroy), there could be small craft workshops that have a small ability to craft bonus or exceptional bonus as a draw. (ability accessible after one or more of the aforementioned quests)

Personally, I would not have made the island a gaudy stripmall with confused flora and random disconnected marble plazas. Neither gross commercialism nor austentation are especially "Humble."

Especially as the Virtue of Humility is one of the uncompleted ones; the rebuilding of Magincia could have been an ideal excuse to tie the two together.

Just off the top of my head; what's the most frustrating thing for a player with a pet but no veterinary skill? Waiting 20 minutes for a pet rez. The alternative is to ask someone in Luna to resurrect it for you. Sure, they could do that whilst bank sitting; but how about players spend time in a special box that hides them view so no one knows who they are, just waiting to offer their humble healing services? Flat rate Humility points for time locked in the penance box, extra Humility points for performing those duties (which helps ensure you're at the keyboard too). You could even add a new mob with a specific plague debuff too to give people more need to go there and be cured as well.

You want simpler ideas; how about gold sinks? Donations to NPC charities. With lots of sickly, dying npcs along Magincia's streets if not enough people do it. Like a reverse Moonglow Library.

Blood donations. 2 hours in game time stat loss if you choose to do it.

Self-humbling; Un-Removable "Robe of Sackcloth" and title of "The Filthy and Stinking..."

I could go on... but it would be the opposite of humility to do so! The point is, Virtue Bane really has won this battle, despite the fiction. Magincia is lost to us, what ever we did, and no matter whether you bought the expansion or not.
