Back in March I ran a poll titled:
What is your guild's primary means of communicating with members?

This is a different flavor of that poll that focuses on individual characters rather than guilds. This poll focuses on those folks that promote their online persona/characters using some form of social media.

Ex. If your character blogs about their adventures, posts artwork, screen captures, or videos of your in-game activities... or if you use social media to keep up with others via Twitter feeds, FB page "likes", YouTube channels, etc.

Your online character(s) should be the subject/focus of the media.

I'm not excluding guilds/associations from this poll, I just didn't want to limit it to them either. (So, if you have a guild website, etc. please include that.)

*EDIT* I didn't include Forums as the content is not controlled by the participants. However, if you run a forum-based site that would be included under "Custom Website", so indicate it there.

If you wish to include a link/address to your site you can include it in a comment.

If I was still rping, I might. My facebook is under Assia Penryn, but I post as myself, not as my character.

Um, just don't take the poll... that is "NO."
Umm, and then you have absolutely no idea as to how many people DONT promote their online characters via social media. That was actually the poll question ...

Yet another poll flawed due to the ommission of a simple option.

True, but what I'm interested in measuring is what methods are used... That's one reason the poll responses are private. Also, there are space limitations involved when composing the question.

And, need I point out... you can leave a comment. If you wish others to know you do not use any form of social media... try typing:

"I do not use social media."

As a comment...
Ataboy! Try and improvise to cover your own failures...

No, Nope, Never ...Don't use but one Instant Messenger, none of the rest.

Wait, is IMing seriously considered 'social media'? Since 99% of IMs are private (one person to another) as a form of direct communication, they really aren't 'social' in the same regards as posting to Twitter or Facebook where everyone and their Gucci-handbag-trapped teacup poodle can see it...

Same goes for VoIP/Vent.

No

There are two obvious answers to the poll, YES and NO. A more descriptive title for this poll might be "What social media do you use to promote your UO characters".

Anyhow, I would be interested in knowing how many people do not promote.

I write stories some on our website (The UORPC of GL's)..... but I would just as soon sell my first born before I go making a twitter or facebook page...

Infact the Governing body of the good ole USA will have to tattoo me with a barcode and all before I fall into that hideous trap.

Facebook and Twitter are just glorified ways of watching your every move and selling your life to big business... And I'm not about to do that. You may as well allow freaking camera's inside your home.

Um... that's an interesting way to look at it.

I see Twitter as a glorified world-wide internet forum that covers every topic imaginable where everyone else starts off on 'ignore'.

It's actually kind of cool.

All that goes into it is what you put into it.

Do you communicate "in-character" using social media?

Hrmm, where to start.....
Your not asking what social media we use, you are asking us if we do.
You should have a Yes or No answer to your poll for above question asked.

A proper question would've been, "If you use social media to communicate "in-character", which media do you use?"
See, now I would have not opened that thread. Because I don't communicate "in-character" via a social media outlet.

Just ask the mods to lock your thread for fail.
And stop posting how it makes sense to just YOU.
You have been warned.

The Bud.

I will stop explaining because there is always a very vocal minority on these forums that like to sit back and nitpick everyone else's posts. I offered an explanation for those that might have honestly not understood what I meant, all that's left are trolls.

Just by looking at the poll numbers, I can see that there are plenty of folks that understand the poll and who wish to participate.

Listen. Your poll was missing some option answers that made MORE sense to your question than what you had listed. People made mention of it and you got defensive. So posters "like me" showed how you should have made the answers based on the structure of your poll question.

Now I don't attend Berkly, but I did stay at A Holiday Inn Express.
As for me being a Troll.

I'm one hot troll.

Well said. They are tools used to manipulate and control us. People need to wake up.
