Cool house idea

Ok, I've seen these NPC's people place in a house. Like a bartender, or a waiter.

I was thinking, I would like to be able to buy a scribe to place in my house. The scribe would inventory all the items in the house once per day and I could ask it where my crap is located inside the house.

New vet reward? Gold Sink?

Would be a cool idea though.

Might be cool too if it could consolidate items. Either by handing to him and he places them in like stacks (for stackables), or if he notes locations of stackable that are in several house locations (thus allowing the owner stack them manually).

Thizs woul dhave helped me immensely several months ago when i could not locate my nocturne earings. damn things a hard to see.

I could see this being useful for people with large houses, such as keeps, castles, etc. However I am not sure how it would tell you where the items are located. I can't imagine it being able to tell you that the item you want is in the chest on the second floor or second rate on the west wall.

Maybe the npc running to the general area where the item you want is...? Seems to be the easiest way to get it working.

Terrible idea. Way too many more important, actually useful things to do first.

Sort your stuff better. Make an Excel spreadsheet documenting where things are if you need to.

Like a house butler or aide?

"Yo Fetch me my 120 swords powerscroll"

"Yes, sir"

*trade window opens with the 120 scroll*

"Yo do I have a +25 Stat scroll in my inventory?"

"Sorry sir but you do not have that item."

I love it!

I like the idea of this but how about we simplify it a little and make it easier to code? An NPC with a player's choice of titles such as manservant, butler, maid, assistant, archivist etc gets handed everything that would otherwise be placed into a secure within the house. Lockdowns do NOT count. Then the owner, co-owner, friends or guildmates can go through the NPC's inventory using the same interface as buying from any other NPC? The home owner account can set security just like any other house related thing. For the sake of safety and the sanity of the home owner, the items can also be reached via the house sign by choosing "butler's cabinet" under the storage category. This would open something like the moving crate and act just like the moving crate to simplify moving or loading pack animals with items too heavy for the player to carry himself.

Actually your idea is already available.. it's called setting a box to "guild".... and allowing anyone in guild to put stuff in or take it out.... Nothing new.

Sorry.

What? How is this like an npc telling you where certain items are in a house?
Think you need to read the OP again.

Hail Folks,

Does anyone know if Bartender/waiter is all that is currently availble for "House NPC'S" or if others already exist? How are they obtained?

Thanks to all who answer!

It's not often I like these sorts of ideas

However if done right it could be quite nice...
It would require a good search function though like any item with < or = # fire resist...

and the way it could tell you where stuff is is simple enough, have it either use the tracking area to point you to it in the case of non container-ed items, or in the case of things in containers tell you the floor and container type and then highlight it temporally for you like the quest items... or something...

Honestly I don't have much trouble with this kinda thing since I sort things fairly well but really just being able to see a list of EVERY item in your house would be useful... I'm sure those multi house owners out there would LOVE it...

"Did I leave this in house 1?" *Checks NPC with no luck*
"House 2?" *Checks That NPC*
"Still no guess its in house 3" *Checks* "Awesome now I just gotta find it..."

If it told you where it was at hat point it would be a god send... =)

huh? My idea involves using a vendor-like interface that lists everything in the house that is not locked down. How is that the same as setting a box to guild? You must have missed that part...

Hence why I suggested a "butler" NPC that would not only let you know you had requested item... but would "fetch" it..

I thought it was a cool idea anyway.

I like the idea but I think a simpler idea would be a new avatar command of
"inventory chest". The response would be a pop-up with a list of all items in the chest.

Actually no. With the EC I have the "grid" I can put that to "list" and well have an inventory of every chest... Sadly though I have 8 houses with probably 60 chests in each at the least. I seriously do NOT want to go sorting through every chest in the house if I could just say:

"Yo do I have a Tribal Berry?"

And let it tell me "No sir sorry there are No Tribal Berries here."

Boom done move on to the next house.

Rinse and repeat until I come to the house that says "Yes Sir you have 32 Tribal Berries, would you like me to get those for you?"

and I could say "Yes Please" and have them without sifting through 60+ chests to find them.

Does that not sound sweet to anyone else?

no a house command, and it pulls up a grid listing of all the items locked down in your house. maybe if you click the item then you see a positional arrow to said item, or a pic of the chest it is in or a longitude coordinate of where it is.

the deal is i have some things that i want to find and i am pretty sure they are in my house somewhere - but where?

This does sound good. But it would be a monumental task i'm afraid because such a "Butler" would be required to recognize and look for partial words to find things such as a certain named rune book (I have over 200 from an old library). It would also be hard to find a certain piece of armor for a Tailor or Blacksmith that has hundred of pieces and only wants the ones with say 6 LMC. I certainly would pay for such an Item and it would certainly be better than buying a tree or a rug.
