Returning to game after years, trying Bushido O_o

I'm returning to the game after like 7-8 years or so. So I'm having trouble remembering much of anything.

Of course there also wasn't Bushido back then, so looking around at common templates I'm looking at making a typical sort of swordsman/bushido/chivalry character. I'm confused on some points though, for example: should I be using a shield, dual wielding.... man I'm lost. It's like I'm a brand new player all over again. Should I be picking up Bushido AND Parrying?

So far I'm just looking at PVM, trying to get on my feet, get money for gear, house, and money to build a tradeskill alt.

So right now I'm looking at Swordsmanship, Tactics, Bushido, Chiv, Healing, Anatomy, Focus, and Parrying... so that's a pretty crowded template... I'm not sure what I should sacrifice...

Also, can anyone remind me of some good crafted newbie armor and weapons to pick up? I'm on Napa Valley, perhaps if you have a vendor, point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Thanks for any and all advice!

Bushido without parry is just unthinkable. No you dont want to carry a shield. Really it makes you harder to hit. Drop focus off that template.

I'm also working now on that template.

But I can't figure out, what kind of spell rotation to use. Is it melee running in and out or ..., which spells to cast first etc. Anyone have an idea about that?

Yes, here are the spells/steps to use

1. Cast Vampiric Embrace
2. Invoke honor
3. Target monster
4. Attack monster
5. Stand in one spot hitting monster. If you have the mana to repeatedly use Armor Ignore, do so.
6. Loot monster

If those steps are too tough you can use my template. It uses Fencing instead of Swords and switches a leafblade in for the broadsword. Damage is lower, but you can use Feint every 4 hits to halve the damage you're taking. If you run from the monster you aren't hitting it. That means you aren't doing damage, which prolongs the target's life and also means you are not leeching any life back to heal yourself.

aye many thanks Gorbs,

Just one thing I don't understand, why is bushido inside this template? there isn't any bushido skill to use in this skill/spells order.

honor the monster for 50% more dmg (dependent upon slayer used)
evade
confidence
counter attack

those are the 4 bush skills i use. very useful. specially counter attack. if u have ai toggled and u get a counterattack in, it does ai dmg. free ai!

When you honor a monster, steps 2. Invoke honor and 3. Target monster in Gorbs list you gain a step in perfection with every hit upto the 10th? hit and lose two steps with every miss.

You also gain a damage boost with every step of perfection, and at the 10th step you achieve perfection and gain no more. Any character can honor a monster, but only those with the bushido skill can gain perfection and the damage boost.

If you don't have the mana to repeatedly use AI in step 5 of Gorbs list, like me, use lightning strike. It boosts your hit chance increase by 50% (humans and elfs only get a 45% boost because of the HCI cap). It also increases your chance of a critical hit which increases your damage.

Other bushido spells that i use are momentum strike, evade, confidence and counter attack.

If you have chivalry some spells I use are enemy of one and consecrate weapon.

EoO adds extra damage only to the type of monster you first hit after casting it, everything else does extra damage to you, its good when there is only one type of monster in the area. Dreadhorn for example, is the only thing on the island, so you can cast EoO and do extra damage to DH and nothing will do extra damage to you. At a champion spawn though, level 4 reptile for example, if you cast EoO then hit a dragon, you will be doing extra damage to all dragons, but everything else at the spawn will do extra damage to you.

CW targets the monsters weakest resist giving you a damage boost. Some people use weapons for a specific target, a 100% cold damage reptile slayer against Rikktor for example, as cold is its weakest resist, but CW is a good option if you don't have one. It only lasts for a few seconds though, so you need to keep casting it.

HCI for Humans and Elves is 45%, not 40%. Gargoyles get 50%, but you only need to take it to 45% with items, as the last 5% for Gargs is racial and automatic.
