I haven't been following closely nor have i jumped on test but...somewhere in the back of my mind I remember plants grown in flower beds were not supposed to give any resources or seeds and if you wanted resources and seeds you would have to grow them the traditional way. Did i get wrong information?or to harvest seeds, green thorns, orange petals, red leaves, cocoa pulp, bark fragments, poppy dust, sacks of sugar, or Seeds of Renewal.
That information seems to have been premature. Once the plants "matured," they appeared to give resources. Below is a screen shot of some "day 8" plants showing the normal fraction for how many seeds are left on the plant. Younger plants just showed X's on the reproduction gump in the areas for pollen, resources, and seeds. (See other screen shot below.) I never had a chance to actually collect seeds from the plants but others who got their plants started a day or two before I got mine started made posts that implied they actually pulled seeds and/or resources off their plants and cross-pollinated them. it is still in testing and will be part of one of the packs that will be for sale at a future date!is this a UO game codes purchase or some kindof in-game reward?
I'll take a shot at trying to reply with my thoughts regarding the beds, based on a bit of testing I did on TC1.
Advantages
The beds let you grow up to nine plants at a time with no need for potions. In other words, you get potion-free production of plants for use as deco plants (to be used as is or cut up for use in the manufacturing of dyes or baskets) or to harvest seeds, green thorns, orange petals, red leaves, cocoa pulp, bark fragments, poppy dust, sacks of sugar, or Seeds of Renewal.
Disadvantages
You can't customize your house while you have a raised gardening bed "deployed."
If you need to change your raised gardening bed back to deed form, you must either change the seeds/saplings back into seeds and start over with them later; abandon the plants and lose them; or turn them into decorative plants before they have finished yielding all of their possible seeds and resources.
While the seeds or plants are in the beds, they don't show up using control-shift the same as plants in pots. So until the plants hit day 7 in their growth cycle, it's pretty much impossible to know what you've got growing unless you planted fully identified seeds and remember what you put in each section of a bed. You can tell the color of the young plant before day 7 but that's it.
You will probably only get one raised gardening bed per account upgrade, so you'll have to select which shard you'll use it on. It's unknown at this point whether the beds are account or character-bound or will be able to be sold between accounts.
It's unknown at this point what happens to a plant if you leave it in a bed past the point where it has finished producing seeds/resources. All the plants people were testing are gone now because TC1 is now a copy of Pacific shard. Do any unharvested seeds/resources stay on the plant while it is still in the bed? Can you leave the plant in the bed in that state indefinitely or will it automatically convert to decorative form and the resources are lost? Or will it die and poof?
It's also unknown if the deeds for the beds (and chests of sending) will be blessed items on Siege. I'm guessing they won't be blessed, so thieves will be able to steal them and they can be lost through decay if your character dies with one in its backpack and it isn't looted or you can't get back to your character's corpse in time to retrieve it.
Yes, the plants in the raised garden beds don't require potions or water. When you grow plants in the Garden bed, you don't have to use potions, does that mean you don't have to water the plants as well?
Someone on the Test Center Shard forum said he ran through a full cycle and you couldn't get seeds. He made that statement before the content was up for a week, so I don't know why he said that because no one was able to complete a full cycle by the time he made his statement. I asked him about it but he never replied. That information seems to have been premature.I haven't been following closely nor have i jumped on test but...somewhere in the back of my mind I remember plants grown in flower beds were not supposed to give any resources or seeds and if you wanted resources and seeds you would have to grow them the traditional way. Just checked again on the new version of TC1 and there are no spawners of any sort in New Haven or Britain. So unless the devs have found a new place to plunk spawner statues, bonding gates, etc., there doesn't seem to be anything unusual on TC1 at this time that you can acquire to help with testing. It's just a clone of the Pacific shard. But for anyone who wants to test them out, there should be, I assume, a spawner item on the New Haven docks.
