I notice all my home plots I placed when old charcture could return are still up. The accounts went inactive when the return period ended.

If I close my active accounts. Do my homes stay up? I don't understand the difference.

The accounts were never reactivated just allowed to log in. So the houses you placed with those accounts will never get the 3 months from deactivation signal and will sit there forever. People have used this to place dozens of free houses they don't pay for every year going on half a decade. This along with all the other bugs that are keeping houses who's owners haven't played or payed in a decade up point to the housing server needing an overhaul.

I did point this out when they started Return to Brit last October but it was ignored as usual.

Your homes on the accounts you pay for will go on the 90 day cycle and at the 90th day after you close the accounts will start the decay process and fall a few days later*
(*unless they have vendors on them in that case the house reverts to OSI and will fall on a set number of days after the vendors are given time to be removed)
The house's you placed on "free time" will stay up till the Dev do something about all the turned in houses ..... which might be never or the day UO pushes up daisys!

so if i place a house on free time even if i keep that account active the house will never fall?

I never did understand why some houses never fall. I have an older account that I rarely use. About 8 months ago I needed to store a large amount of gold for a few days, so I reactivated my account and placed a house. I placed 3 vendors on the plot to hold the gold. After I had transfered back to my main shard I deactivated the account.

The house is still standing. And two of the vendors are still there. I guess they will use up the whole 100k of gold 60 at a time then fall.

It will fall 90 days after you stop paying for the account like normal. It's not the act of placing a house during return to Britannia that keeps the houses from falling it's the placing or transferring them to inactive accounts.

They should have every house sign on the servers talk to the housing server and say hey have I been paid for in the past 90 days? Apparently they can't though... Only a small fraction of houses show outward signs of not being paid for(ownerless), most look like any other house.
