Monster DB missing comments

On the monster DB pages, there used to be user comments at the bottom of each page describing, usually, people's fighting experiences and other comments. These appear to be missing, have they been turned off, deleted, hidden, or what?

Yep, it's gone. Not showing in IE, Chrome or Firefox.

Looks like it is more likely something is preventing it from actually showing. It is dynamic content that may have been temporarily disabled as part of maintenance on the DB. Hope it comes back soon. I rely heavily on this before I go hunting new creatures.

no other responses, guess that means they're gone, permanently. They could have just pruned them a bit
Pictures are gone for Mantra Effervescence, Corporeal Brume, & Pestilent Bandage. Also says we need heavy armor and silver weaps for some. Do silver weaps even exist any more?

Sorry, I didn't see this till now! Profound apologies.

The comments were getting spammed 50+ posts per day of the most revolting stuff you wish your mother never had to see. It was taking me an hour per day just to delete the stuff, and it was turning my stomach just reading the urls! With no way to filter such stuff I felt I had to turn them off.

They all have to be approved, unapproved or deleted by me before they become visible to you.

It's sad that, as much as there is to do in the world, people find time to corrupt something that is very useful to others.

Perhaps captcha may be able to help? Even so, should anyone be able to add comments without having a Stratics account?

The software through which the database is updated is rather old and isn't linked to the vbulletin accounts. Hopefully the comment facility can be restored at some point, but not until we manage to replace that old software I think. I'd tell you more, but software design and function is a bit beyond my understanding

Thanks, as always, Petra. I also relied heavily, always, on Stratics comments from users. Of course, the info Stratics provides, such as weapon, is essential, but I don't hunt anything without first reading the experiences of other players. I really appreciated that feature! So, here's hoping there's a way to restore them soon. Cheers!

Is it possible to limit who can leave comments? current stratics member, x-amt of posts? something like that?

I'm afraid, yes, anyone could leave comments. As I said before it's very old and not linked to the boards in any way.
However, a replacement system is being worked on. It won't be ready for a while yet, it's a very big task, so I need to ask you to be patient a little while longer.
The database which contains hunter's guide also contains the item catalogue and complete atlas entries.
