Sampire gear and race questions

I'm just recently returning and I'm building a sampire.

My first question is why so many people prefer an elf char for a sampire.

My other question is how much would I lose by using plate (or leather) instead of wood?

Thanks,

I've read that, but it did not answer my questions. I understand that I would lose "something" by using plate, but I don't know what that is.

Also, since I'm recently returning, I don't have the 50 mil needed for those legs and glasses (much less the gold to imbue all those relic fragments).

Finally, why is elf preferred over human or gargoyle?

Different strokes for different folks. Elves get +20 mana automatically. It's not uncommon to see ppl with 10 base int on their elf sampire. Wood armor get different resist bonuses from special materials than plate or leather. This can allow you to reach a 70/70/70/70/75 suit with fewer imbues/runic pieces. Pieces crafted/enhanced with heartwood get an extra property which can be 10DI or 5HCI. Should I keep going?

Personally, my sampire is human. I like JOAT and being able to carry additional stuff in my backpack. The biggest downside is my suit forces me to keep DI on my weapon to still reach 100DI and have only 40HCI (15ring/15brace/10trinket). If I were intending to make another suit I'd probably do the human to elf quest and give that a test run to see if I liked it better.

This was the type of information I was hoping to get.

Another question as someone without a lot of funds, which is most important:

resists, HCI, DCI, DI, LMC, Stamina, Hit Points?

I'm asking what can I skimp on and what is absolute?

Thanks,

For a sampire, you must have 45 DCI, 100 DI, and as much stamina as you can get.

Next I fit HCI and HPI. Try to balance these so you get some of both until you can max both on your suit. Then add mana increase. LMC is a luxury. Try building your starter sampire suit around either Fey Legs or a Heart of the Lion. Then have the rest of the pieces imbued. Someday you'll have enough gold to get the Mace & Shield Glasses.

Don't overlook the weapon. This is just as important (if not more) than the suit. You must be able to swing the weapon at 1.25s (see swing speed charts). Weapons typically have SSI, DI, HSL, and HML. The final weapon mod varies, but most use a slayer. HLD is a good generic choice for those without M&S Glasses.

My only advice is, don't half ass it. You'll only be kicking yourself when you try to upgrade it later.

to be honest a new player with nothing i wouldnt build a sampire right off.
i would build a bushido warrior and then get your stuff together and then drop healing for necro.

I'm working on my suit and doing some math I can get 70, 56, 49, 73, 55 on my suit before imbuing resists. This includes fey leggings and night eyes.

My question is this: I can get 70, 86, 64, 73, 70 with 4 imbues. Is it better to just lose two more imbues and max out fire and cold?

Thanks,

Fairly certain it is the hair style choices.
Oh absolutely! I don't know where humans find their stylists, but elves, you see...

With an elf, you get nightsight and 20 extra mana for free. Which is less mods you have to imbue on your armor to get the same stats, or less strength or dex on your human character.

Humans can carry a bit more, and have a base 20 in all skills (if they are left at 0 that is).

I went elf, and my base int is 10, but with my suit I run 76 mana, and 191 stamina. The stamin is high enough that I don't have to put SSI on most of my weapons, which leaves more room for other mods I like better. The downside is only 126 hp, but I think the upsides far outweigh that. Of course, I'm missing out on a free 20 points on skills that are left at 0, but I can't think of a skill that I want 20 points in except spirit speak, magery, anatomy, meditation, focus and hiding, but they are all of dubious worth anyway.

As you probably know, in addition to a full set of imbued armor, you will need lots and lots and lots of weapons to fit certain things you will want to fight, and you will probably come up with new mod combinations you want to try out on your weapons, which means a whole bunch of imbuing. I would recommend you to train your mule to 120 imbuing before you start going hog wild on your sampire. It will cost you a lot less in the long run, and you can make weapons at your leisure, instead of begging favors/buying pre-imbued armor and weapons and working on someone else's timeframe.

As far as the suit goes, don't half-ass it. Get it built around the mace and shields, and use something else in the mean time until you can afford it.

Spellweaving:
Gift of Renewal- 0 Skill- Heal over time
Attunement- 0 Skill- Shield that absorbs melee damage
Nature's Fury- 0 Skill- 1 control slot minor EV type summons

I should have been more specific.

You might be better off remaking some pieces to get points in other places.

Keep in mind that Vampiric Embrace is -25 Fire Resist. So, if you are are 86, that would put you at 61. That's a little lower than I would be comfortable with.

I've never be comfortable with anything lower than 95 fire resist myself

If it has the book at the position of quest NPC, the quest of the race change (human to elf,elf to human)is very easy.
Both quest will be ended in about 15 minutes.
I also have the sampire who returned from human to elf and repeated human.
All my sampire is human.

It is attention because it is changed when making it to the color of a special hair!

It is one method to try both.

I am making a 2nd sampire and she'll be human.

One to test and see how I like JOAT on a sampire and two so I can farm Semidar easier. :D
