All she just managed to do is insure her griefing will continue for a couple more months with this post.
You wanted to get the message out about how bad griefing/harassment in game can be?
Contact a stratics reporter and either ask them to make such a post as an editorial type post, or ask them if they would post your story for you.. leaving your name FULLY out of it.

Personally, I got involved with a group of roleplayers years ago. My GM was a trouble maker and I just wasn't around to see most of what she did. She caused a mess then quit UO leaving me behind to deal with the fall out.

I have a vendor house as well, they blocked my recall spots.. tamed animals and left them all over blocking spots with horrid names.. picked up all my runes.. followed me around in game.. lured things on me.. came at me and said things I wouldn't say to someone out of game that I hated.
Hell, they even tried to cause real life issues between my then boyfriend, who also played, and me.

Point being..
I banned them from my shop.
Dropped runes for different areas around my shop instead of just one or two spots or gated.
Put them on ignore instantly when they came with a new char.
Didn't respond to any board posts or make my own about it.
Left a hunting location if they showed up and changed up some of my usual hunting locations.
Played less known characters or on other shards a bit.
Blocked them on icq.

Guess what? I didn't respond AT ALL.. and they all went away, even the worst of them, by the end of 2 months.

So no my picture wasn't pointless, She's playing for attention.
No one that wants to be left alone would post this big mess up on UHall under their own name and expect to make it get any better.


That being said going to law enforcement, you need more then in game proof even if you get videos. ICQ/AIM logs.. E-mails.. that span back at least half of the time you're saying this has happened. If they post your personal information on the web or you have proof they know your personal information (address etc), that would also be a way to get law enforcement involved.

Point being it appears by the multitude of posts that Jirel makes on this topic that she brings it upon herself. She's posted examples of things before and has been called out for instigating things and making up things.

If in fact Jirel is even a female to begin with or actually has a sister, which I personally question (just my opinion, of course).

The poster above is correct. Ignoring the problem would make it go away. Players on Jirel's shard (Legends, if I recall) obviously know they can get under her skin and it obviously makes her an easy target for this kind of behavior, especially since she instigates her own fair share of trouble.

Jirel, and I say this honestly... if I were you I'd either quit the game or invest in a name change and shard change token. You (and others posting throughout the years) have made it pretty clear that you are not beloved or endeared by the majority players on your shard. There is probably a reason for that. And perhaps a change might be in order.

Do you know why GM's hardly ever respond to harassment pages besides racist ones. Because you're suppose to take a little bit of personal responsibility for yourself. Avoid the pixel person! Oh no the ignore didn't work. Ignore the person yourself by NOT READING THE TEXT ON YOUR SCREEN.

This is what people do on there free time. Do you know what most friends do together? They make jokes hang out and act like snarky smart asses in good fun. You think that's not going to carry on through a video game? Where people usually don't even know each other?

This isn't the real world. If you want a mature conversation go outside away from the fantasy based video game. Stop being the worlds maturity police.

That is very well said, sorry Jirel but geez woman get a grip... We all know how the online world works people get a thrill harrassing people because, in my opinion, they need a vent from their own pathetic reality. Giving them the attention they so much desire is only continuing this problem. I ignore stupid on a regular basis because it seems to be regular in the online world, lol. Just curious, how do you handle reality? I don't think Napa is such a bad idea, lol!

Just ignore it, it's words on a screen from someone you've never met . . . sometimes that suggestion is the only answer.

Ok the ignore it thing I understand... but that doesnt mean that it should be allowed to happen or continue either way.
Many of us that play have children and some even have grandchildren, they may or may not play UO at all, but they will come across this type of harassment and bullying as they get older, whether its in some other game or RL. Teaching them to ignore it is one thing.. but by the community not doing anything, it also teaches them that this behavior is tolerated. No type of harassment or bullying should be tolerated whether its in a video game or RL.

Is a good point. And I do totally agree with responsibility. But people also need to remember that while a lot of us can ignore it or shrug it off (or claim to at least) doesn't mean it's easy for everyone else to do that. Everyone is different and reacts differently. An insult easily shruged off to me could have a much deeper effect on someone else. Saying it shouldn't offend her since it wouldn't offend us doesn't make it so. If everyone reacted the same we obviously wouldn't really be here debating this.

Ps. Not specifically talking about this one example here by the OP.

first I heard nothing presented that constituites harrasment.perhaps, you should explain more detail how this affects you. second I get a chuckle out of your impling gm's and the game doesnt ban vulgar of inapropriate speech. I have personally witnessed people get suspensions. And racial Slurs unless there aimed at elfs is also unacceptable and I have personally seen people go bye bye from this.I feel that perhaps you should either explain more in detail or just forget about it. and for the guy that said water barrels was blocking his house cause they were full of water is not correct, water barrels when filled with water can be walked thru. when empty they form a block.

i would put up pics but i tend to be the chick behind the camera. Last pic i found was from 2003 and i still had dyed red hair.

But if you play legends you know we are two different peeps.. talk similar but different.

As far as the whole freakin mess which i try to stay out of it.. there has been lot of tit for tat.

i know of one night i logged into game for what ever reason he was in general chat cussing about Jirel and such. Jirel was not in game. i dont think she had even gotten on the computer that day. i got a guild message from one the guild emissaries about it and that he been going on like that for 5 or 10 min already before i got in. i told the emisarry i wasnt going to respond him as it would just fuel the fire. The emisarry however did tell him shut up and ask why he was going off about someone not even in game at the moment?
