I had a house as of yesterday that was decaying, was at the "greatly" stage. So I reactivated the account that was attached to it yesterday afternoon. Logged in, recalled around, opened the doors (all the things I was told in the past that used to work to refresh a house, no idea if they actually do work), and the house didn't refresh.

As of today, the house is now "Owned by OSI".. I have no idea when the housing server refreshed why the house didn't stay with my account.

I called customer service, they can't help. I have been waiting for hours now for a GM, haven't moved up the que at all.

Can anyone please point me in the direction I need to go to get this fixed? This is a 12 year old account with loads of things in the house.

What can I do??

If the house was that important to you, you should have kept the account active.

From what I understand, once the house reaches "Greatly Worn", it is too late to save the house.

when you reactivate an account to save a house it takes a couple days for it to click in.

not sure why, something about the housing server and the account server talking at certain intervals or something.

at any rate, once the IDOC state hits a certain point there is just no was of stopping it.

BUT, what you can do is drop the house BEFORE it hits the end in a controlled manner.

cause you get a hold on that land for a certain window of time.
dosnt help for all the stuff you might have inside, but just think of it as spring cleaning day!
your house will be so clean and organised after this!

same thing happened to me before.
i have a account that i play lead frog with.
i have it on for a month.
then off for 2.
then on for one.
then off for 2.

its a house that i dont use very much but i dont wanna kill it off.

that way i have a good 1 month buffer between losing it due to IDOCing.

pack the house as best you can.
drop the house.
replace.
do it ASAP so that campers wont be there yet.

do houses usually say "owned by osi " before they fall ?

seems odd that it didn't fall ...

Not true.. I've seen someone on Origin log in to save a house that was less than an hour away from collapsing. I waited all night for the house to fall, was a big Luna plot.. had a friend wait all night with me.
The owner logged in and transfered the house to another account and it never fell.

As for OSI owning the house, only time I ever see that is when there are vendors still up.
You may need to PM Cal or Mesanna thru here and see if theres anything else you can do or they can do.

Transferring it to another account is a different story, and yes... that would have worked. In this case though, the account was reopened and once the house is greatly worn, reopening the account will not save the house. Once the house is "Owned by OSI" it is basically already IDOC'd and is only still there for owners of rented vendors to claim their inventory. I do not think that Cal or Mesanna will be able to help at this time... it is past the point on no return.

Thanks for all the info so far folks, I really appreciate it.

I just spoke with a GM who told me that he could see when I reactivated. And that I reactivated the account in time to save the house. But he could do nothing about it since it went to OSI.

Moral of the story, don't exploit the billing system - you will get burned eventually.

so did you have a friend keep an eye on your house? or are you running a second acct?

my point it, how can it be greatly if you are running the acct?

oh wait, ah, Like FishinFool says, your playing the 90 day game, ie pay one month in 3, and did you mess up?

looks like it to me

the house will go OSI if you have rented vendors with gold on them, a banned acct with dubious items inside, or if there is a dispute and billing issue

when it goes OSI, it is very doubtful you will get the house back, one of the reasons is as you have found out, who is OSI, nobody knows, part of the "system" that cannot be contacted!

lesson learnt i think, you will have to say goodbye

oh, and PAY LIKE THE REST OF US

Also, IF you are juggling the system to save money but keep discount storage I think you are playing with fire asking for help here, any housing issues like this will call in the wolves, and they are here waiting! this is your mistake, trying to exploit the system, an all to common trixck that usually fails in time, I have seen castle fall this way only for the owner to stand there and watch it get looted dry, or ask for items back, shocking i can well imagine

the house no longer belongs to you

I suggest an email explaining exactly what happened, including the reply you got from the GM (which should have been emailed to you) plus your account name, the shard, facet and coordinates of the house sent to [email protected] asking if there's any way to retrieve your belongings. Players can not help you at this stage.

I've seen a smaller house on LS stay standing for over 5 years owned by OSI.. didn't matter how many times I paged about it, it would never fall. Sometimes I had access and my co-owner access to the items inside.. sometimes the same character would be stuck/prevented from even stepping on the front stairs.. :\

If EA doesn't want people paying for their accounts every 90 days they can make houses start decaying 30 days after it goes inactive...or give us more than one house per account again....IMO...period.
I would do what Petra said, however I have to say that it did me no good and my house went poof while my account was active. I'm sorry you are having problems and I sincerely wish that they would fix houses to refresh properly....or at least do something to where i feel it's worth the $39.00/month I would have to pay for my accounts....

Anyways, good luck and I hope you get your belongings back.

If you are not to attached to the house or location you can always place another plot somewhere and move all your belongings. Then wait till you can place at the original spot again if you want the old spot back :)

Once a house starts the decay cycle there is no way to save it except by transferring it to another account. Even slightly worn is too late.

Not true. Actually if you catch it before IDOC it usually will refresh at the next server up.

That being said, if you like your house and it's contents why take the chance? There are server hic-ups, patches, and other various sundry errors that could cause a problem, so waiting until the decay cycle is unwise.

This is not correct. Usually, as Flutter stated, as long as you pay before it goes IDOC it will refresh at the next server up.

It's best to pay up the account immediately when it starts to decay.

Alright, I'm going to break this into two phases...

1. For those that chose to come by and give nothing but negative insight and opinions...go take a flying leap.. There are people that care.. Even if you don't.. Try living your life instead of trying to bring others down and you might be surprised as to what happens for yourself. Negativity breeds, and you are no help to the rest of us..

2. Ok, the good stuff.. My home is safe, my 10+ years are safe, things are being worked out. To those that gave me ideas and options to try..I thank you with every ounce of myself....THANK YOU. Home is still in limbo, but it has been held up from the chance of falling, and I think I'm in love with the team for doing so. :D What will my wonderful woman think??

I want to express my extreme gratitude to the stratics community for the positive thoughts and help that you have offered me. There are some amazing "people" around here.

The house should have refreshed even at "Greatly Worn" I for one am not on the game much right now due to personal stuff I have going on. I pay for only one account at a time....when i see one of my other houses go to greatly worn i activate that one and deactivate the one i was on. They have always refreshed.

OSI owned now means that you must of had vendors on it. It is unpredictable when it will fall at that point. You would have to prove to a GM you reactivated your house in time but im afraid that would be fruitless.

Your best option would be to get some friends and do a controlled drop and replace a house right away. Your friends can than help you pick up your belongings and place them in your house hopefully before greedy looters come along.

I am so glad you were able to get some great help from everyone.

The door opening use to be a few years ago, this day and age you open the house menu. This a GM told me once when a CC I was using decided I charged too many things to the same place(UO).hehe and skiped one house. I quickly caught it and qued and GM who gave me the same as flutter said open the house sign and wait for the next mantence if it doesnt reset after that call back. I did as he said and after the next mantence the house was fine.

You have 90 days but never wait that long to reopen your accounts. If you need to spred the time out go 60 days.
